Twice the two had to be told to calm down, but both took the direction to chill. 7/12/24 Foster Feedback: We organized a play date tonight and I think it went very well! Peppermint Pixie Queen (PPQ) barked at another dog while he was on the other side of the fence, but we gave her cheese and once he was inside the fence there were no issues. The other dog was pretty submissive and PPQ actually didn't push him, she loves to play so I expected full body wrestling but she did a good job not irritating or overpowering him. They did do some running and posed for some pics, overall they had very good interactions. The next dog (Lotus) gave PPQ a run for her money! The girls ran and played and took turns getting drinks. Lotus was still high energy and PPQ was on the ground exhausted. We brought them inside and Lotus was so cute, kept coming back to PPQ to check on her as she was panting on the floor. The girls started wrestling inside and the energy was too much for indoor play, so we gave them a break and called it a night. I was pleased to see that PPQ played well with others, and was not out of control or aggressive at all. She can be a bit much for my kitty and doesn't always listen when kittenface scolds her, so I was a bit worried that she would be too much for another dog. I'm glad to say all three did great.  07/02/2024 Foster Feedback: PPQ is learning to snuggle with my kitty, but still wants to play rough sometimes. I think she would be so happy in a house with another young, big dog to rassle with. She has my whole heart, she is as sweet as pie. She still has a loud alert bark and drools, and lunges on the leash when startled but is very good at redirecting and calmly sitting to regroup. Her leg is getting stronger!  Her favorite toy is a ball, just to chew on and maybe chase 3 times for fetch. She's an inexpensive gal as she doesn't play with toys still and doesn't chew bones.    03/25/2024 Foster Feedback:  Hey everyone! Meet Peppermint Pixie Queen - a beautiful, energetic, and sweet boxer who is looking for her forever home! She's the perfect snuggle buddy who loves to sleep in bed and might even snore a little, ok maybe a lot...and loud. She can be a bit shy when new people enter the room without me, but once she knows she isn't in danger, she'll shower you with slobbery kisses!  This lovable boxer is still learning about toys and bones, but she absolutely adores peanut butter! Peppermint Pixie Queen is incredibly tolerant and is learning when to dial back her playfulness with kitties. She's recovering well from hip surgery and is using her leg about 90% of the time. We still do her stretches and she doesn't mind them but gently let's me know when she has had enough.    Just a heads up, Peppermint Pixie Queen can be a bit messy when she drinks, but that's part of her charm! She's a social butterfly who loves being around people and will let you know if anyone gets too close to her house with her alert barks. On walks, she's friendly but might pull on the leash if there are too many exciting things around, so night walks might be the best time for her adventures.    If you're looking for a loyal and affectionate companion, this boxer is the one for you! Let's help her find her forever home by sharing her story far and wide.    Peppermint Pixie Queen is potty trained and has had zero accidents.  She is kennel trained but will escape if put in there 3x in one day. She's only been around cats with me and she has learned to play more gently, ignore the cat, and stop when she's getting too rough.  Peppermint Pixie Queen is an absolutely fantastic car rider! We are working on leash manners such as pulling and darting behaviors.     Peppermint Pixie Queen loves sunshine, watching traffic and people, all of the people. She does get scared if you have a stick or broom in your hand and will cower and run away. She has a loud bark that rattles the windows, but stops as soon as I come to see what's upsetting her.  She is very polite and doesn't get into things that don't belong to her. Some vehicles (fire engines with lights and sirens off, postal vans, and some random cars) set her off and she does jerk on the leash and jump to chase them. Once she feels resistance on the leash, she stops but her ears are laid back and it clearly makes her nervous. I haven't figured out what the trigger is yet but she is super strong and will pull someone down if they aren't ready for her to leap out of the blue.   Peppermint Pixie Queen would do well with space to move around.  She does like to burn off energy, so a fenced yard would be great.    To view additional dogs available for adoption, please see our website: www.4luvofdog.org July 26, 2024, 3:14 pm
