Story
Toffee: •Shar Pei/Labrador Retriever mix •6 months old •35lbs •Spayed female •Dog friendly •Working on potty and crate training •So wrinkly and cute! Toffee is a chill, cuddly, affectionate 6 month old Shar Pei/Labrador Retriever mix who loves being pet, playing, and chilling around the house with you! Her default position is sitting next to you waiting for pets, no matter where you are. Toffee is a petite girl at only 35lbs and she's not expected to get much bigger (50lbs max)! Toffee was found as a stray and taken to our local high kill shelter where she (somehow) landed on the euthanasia list for space and lack of adoption interest. We're not sure why no one paid her any attention, as she's obviously got the cutest wrinkles and sweet face! With the shelter being so overcrowded, dogs usually don't get very long to find placement and Toffee was put on the euthanasia list not long after arriving at the shelter. Luckily, we were able to save her and she's been the best little rescue guest ever! Toffee is more of the shy side when she first meets new people, but she seems to warm up pretty quickly. She likely didn't have a great life before coming to us (as is the case with most of our pups), and she is pretty timid and shrinks back at sudden movements due to this. She is gaining more confidence each day and is steadily coming out of her shell, but she will need a patient adopter who is understanding of her shy nature and is willing to work with her to build up her confidence. Once she gets used to you and her surroundings, Toffee is a rather calm girl who would rather nap at your feet than partake in the usual puppy shenanigans that come with her age. She enjoys playing with other dogs but is more people and affection oriented than anything. She tends to be more on the dominant side with other dogs but gives and takes corrections well. She's a pretty easy girl to get along with! Toffee is working on her crate and potty training and is doing well in her progress with each. She's a smart little cookie who can learn a lot with the right training! Toffee is located in Houston TX but can be transported to most US states for adoption.

Story
Meet Khaleesi! Before she knew love, Khaleesi knew pain. This 3-year-old, 33 lb Chow/Shiba Inu mix came to us after surviving entropion, a painful eye condition that left her eyelids scraping against her eyeballs. Her eyes were often sealed shut, and even meds couldn’t ease the discomfort. Then came heartworm treatment—and more weeks of recovery. All in all, Khaleesi has spent months healing. First at the Victoria Animal Shelter, and then 12 weeks in our program. She’s overcome more than most dogs ever should. But she’s still standing. And she’s finally ready. Now? She’s healthy. She’s happy. She can see clearly—and she’s SO full of love to give. Khaleesi is dog, cat, kid, AND chicken-friendly! She is goofy, gentle, and loves to wrestle with other pups. Although a little shy at first, she is incredibly affectionate and goofy once she warms up!Khaleesi is dreaming of an active home with fur siblings to play with. She’s been through the hard part. Now she just needs her forever people. To have your home considered for adoption, read about our adoption process or fees, and find out about interstate transport (dogs only), please visit our website.https://longwayhome.org/apply ❤ Long Way Home makes no guarantees on breed--most animals we receive from shelters are mixed breeds. As long as they need rescue, that's what is most important to us.

Story
Winter (aka Winnie) is a 4-year-old Bull Terrier that was rescued from the streets of Houston, Tx and is now living the foster dog life in NW Arkansas - she is just missing her forever humans! She's crate trained, knows "sit" and will hucklebutt with joy before walks. Fluffy toys and beds? Consider them destroyed. Plastic toys? Keep' em hidden--she will eat them. She's got a high prey drive (mice are trophies!) and needs a home with no other pets or kids under 10. Winter is spayed, vaccinated, microchipped, and full of love and laughs. Entertainment level: 100%. Experienced adopters preferred as she is a Bull Terrier through and through. She needs someone that will understand and cater to her goofiness.
