Story
Meet Yin, an amazing girl who ended up on the streets of Los Angeles on the 4th of July. Scared by the fireworks, wondering the neighborhood she approached a family pulling into their driveway. Happy to join them in their home, these compassionate people were compelled to seek out her owners. Their efforts did not however pay off. Having seen Furcast Friday, they decided to reach out to Kim and ask for help. Yin was transported to Shelter Hope where she is being cared for and showered with love. Yin is a big, beautiful girl with a happy smile and happy-go-lucky temperament. She is a gentle giant and will need a homestead with plenty of space to move around.
More from her foster:
Yin is a sweet, gentle big girl who is really just looking for one thing: a family to love and call her own.
Since coming into our home, Yin has shown us what an amazing companion she can be. She’s potty trained, sleeps peacefully through the night on the floor, and is perfectly content lounging on a cozy rug or dog bed near you while you work from home. She’s independent but always happy to accept snuggles when they're offered.
Despite her size, Yin doesn't need a huge backyard or endless hours of exercise. She's more of a curious explorer than a zoomies kind of girl. She enjoys sniffing around and taking in the world at her own pace.
She's also been wonderful with our resident pets! She's gentle with our 25-pound dog and has shown no prey drive toward our cat. She loves our child, too, approaching with curiosity, giving space, and simply wanting to be part of the family. She may occasionally try to hop on the couch to keep up with our little dog, but she understands when she's reminded that the couch isn't for her.
Yin is still working on her leash skills, and there's one area where she'll need a little extra patience and understanding: vehicles. Loud trucks passing by can frighten her. We've found that simply stopping, giving her reassurance, and letting the noise pass helps her relax. She's already made noticeable progress in the short time we've had her, and we believe continued positive exposure, patience, and comfort will help build her confidence.
A few other things we love about Yin:
- She loves being brushed.
- She doesn't mind having her paws cleaned after outdoor adventures.
- She's happy just being near her people.
- She enjoys affection but is also comfortable doing her own thing.
- She's a gentle soul who wants to belong.
Yin isn't asking for much. She just needs a stable, loving home with people who understand that confidence takes time and that a little patience and compassion can make all the difference.
She's already showing us how special she is, and we know that with the right family, she'll continue to blossom.
