Meet Story! Story is a beautiful 4-year-old Mini Sheepadoodle weighing 30 pounds, whose heart is full of love, and who is searching for the right home where she can truly thrive. Story's journey to us comes with some sadness, but also an abundance of hope. Her family loves her deeply and has done everything they could to make things work. They sought guidance from a behavioralist and even explored medication, wanting nothing more than to keep her with them. But with a young toddler in the home and another baby on the way, it became clear that Story was feeling overwhelmed and struggling in ways that made family life too stressful for everyone involved. With heavy hearts, they made the selfless decision to find her a home better suited to her needs. Story is not broken or bad she simply needs an environment where she can feel safe, secure, and understood. Her young family has begun to grow, the changes are making her feel nervous and unsure. She has shown resource guarding behaviors around food and can be protective of her parents, which means she will need an adult-only home or one with older, dog-savvy teens, along with adopters who are committed to setting her up for success. In the right home, Story has so much love to give. She is a smart, loyal companion who bonds deeply with her people and will be happiest as a cherished member of a calm, structured household. Shes the kind of dog who wants to be close to you, sharing lifes quiet moments and offering unwavering devotion. Story is here at our shelter in New Hampshire, ready and waiting for her fresh start. She has already known love once, and now she deserves a second chance with someone who will see the wonderful dog she truly is. Because of her resource guarding, we believe Story would be her best self in a home with no other pets. New people can be a little intimidating for Love, and she may be shy when you first meet her, but with a little patience and kindness, she warms up surprisingly quickly and lets her sweet personality shine.Love truly enjoys the company of other calm, friendly dogs and would likely thrive with a respectful canine companion who can help boost her confidence. She`s happiest around easygoing friends and would love a home that matches her relaxed personality. Because she can be sensitive to new situations, Love is looking for an adult-only home where she can settle in without the hustle and bustle of young children. With slow, proper introductions, she may also do well with a dog-savvy cat.Like many Spaniels, Love arrived at the shelter with a double ear infection. While this may have simply been a one-time issue, her breed and those thick, floppy ears make her more prone to developing ear infections throughout her life. Her new family should be comfortable monitoring her ears, keeping them clean and dry, and working with their veterinarian if ear issues arise in the future.If you`re looking for a loyal companion who just needs a little time to trust, Love is ready to show you just how deserving of her name she is.
