Story
Dorito is a little over a year old and one seriously lovable guy! Found as a stray in Southern Illinois, he is now neutered, potty trained, crate trained, and ready to find his forever family.
Dorito LOVES his people and is incredibly affectionate. If you let him, he'll happily jump into your lap for snuggles and cover you with kisses. If you're not in the mood? No worries, he'll go lie down and take one of his very serious naps.
But say the word "walk" and Dorito is ready to GO! He loves exploring, sniffing everything, and stalking rabbits. He gets very excited about walks and may run circles around his foster family when it's time to go. Once home, though, he settles nicely and is happy to relax. He could make a great walking or running buddy and might even enjoy nose work or agility.
Dorito enjoys car rides, peanut butter, salmon treats, and being wherever his foster family is. He's not particularly interested in toys yet, although he's recently started chewing on a rope toy and stuffie. He's also food-motivated and doesn't seem interested in stealing people food—he's more of a grazer when it comes to his meals.
He's still learning his manners and doesn't appear to know many commands yet, but he's young, treat-motivated, and very trainable. When excited, he may mouth your hands (but doesn't nip) and sometimes jumps up to greet people. He's been gentle with children, but older kids may be the better fit because of his enthusiastic greetings.
Dorito is still learning about other dogs and may bark at dogs who bark at him or at larger dogs he sees on walks. He may benefit from a confident dog friend who can help show him the ropes, with proper introductions and continued socialization.
Dorito would do well with a single person, couple, or family. He especially enjoys the company of men.
This sweet boy is the perfect combination of snuggly couch potato and enthusiastic adventure buddy. If you're looking for a dog who will happily follow you around, go for a long walk, come home for a nap, and then climb into your lap for kisses, Dorito might just be your guy!
