Meet Cher!
Cher is a beautiful 1-year-old, 30 lb Sheltie/Shepherd mix who came to us as a stray from an overcrowded shelter. She's a sensitive girl who is still learning that the world is a safe place and is looking for a patient home where she can decompress and grow at her own pace.
Cher's ideal home is a calm, quiet, adult-only household with adopters who understand herding breeds. She needs a standalone home with a securely fenced yard, as she is not yet comfortable walking on a leash, and a playful, confident resident dog who can help show her that people and new experiences aren't so scary.
While people are still intimidating to Cher, she absolutely lights up around other dogs. She matches their energy, takes cues from them, and clearly learns by watching them. A confident canine companion isn't just a bonus for Cher, it's one of the keys to helping her thrive. With her dog friends, her playful, active personality begins to shine.
As she settles in, her herding breed traits have started to emerge. Cher enjoys herding her dog buddies and can be a little bossy at times, so a dog-savvy home familiar with working breeds would be a great fit. Continued positive socialization, confidence-building, and training will help her continue to blossom.
Cher may not be the dog who greets you at the door on day one, but for someone willing to invest the time and patience she deserves, the reward will be watching a shy dog transform into a devoted companion. Cher is UTD on vaccinations, microchipped, and spayed. Her adoption fee is $500.
