Story
**WALTER IS ADOPTED!** Are you an adventurous soul seeking a four-legged friend to join your adventures? Look no further than Walter, an energetic and playful pup who is always up for a good time! This curious and intelligent 8-month-old Standard Poodle is eager to explore the world and won't rest until he's sniffed out every secret spot on your next camping trip. Walter found his way to Pal's Place after being surrendered to a local veterinary clinic when his previous guardians realized they weren't prepared to handle the commitment that comes with caring for a young puppy. An untreated skin infection he developed as a very young pup has left some superficial scarring on his face, and we are unsure if those areas will ever re-grow fur. Walter doesn't seem to mind one bit, though, and he actually thinks the scarring makes him look cool and gives him some street cred. Walter is a social butterfly who loves meeting new people and dogs and is always up for a game of fetch or a good old-fashioned belly rub. He's an outgoing, fun-loving goofball with a heart of gold and an endless supply of enthusiasm. He's the perfect companion for those who want an active and curious buddy to join them on hikes, runs, bike rides, or even just a trip to the park. With his boundless energy and playful spirit, Walter will keep you on your toes and bring endless laughter into your life. He loves other dogs and thrives in their company. He will do best in a home with at least one other playful dog as a companion. Walter likes to use his voice and can be a chatty Cathy at times, so no apartments, condos, or units that share walls with neighbors. We love to hear his stories and all about his day, but your neighbors may not. Walter is still working on his basic obedience and manners, as he'd much rather goof off and enjoy life than pay attention in his training sessions. His ideal guardians will be willing, prepared, and expectant of continuing his obedience education. Puppy shenanigans are still a regular occurrence with Walt. Guardians with a sense of humor and a bit of patience are a must! He is crate-trained and does well with his house training when taken out regularly. If you're seeking a loyal and affectionate adventure buddy, Walter is your dog. Come and meet him today, and let the adventures begin! Walter is being fostered in Chicago and a meeting can be arranged by appointment once an application has been submitted and approved for adoption. His adoption fee to the rescue is $475. Story
Sundae is a standard poodle puppy born 9/15/24 . He is a spirited little guy who will start out a bit shy. He was born in a commercial breeding facility and dogs not have the same puppy experiences a dog might have that was born in your home. He wasn't exposed to the same things at an early age. That being said, he is learning and adjusting well now that he is with us but he will need a patient family to go slowly and let him gain his trust.. He will blossom with time and patience. Sundae needs a home with a secure fenced in yard for his potty place, He is not a dog for an apartment or condo setting. He must have a home with another dog buddy to show him the ropes and give him confidence, Dogs born in commercial breeding facilities understand dogs better than people, A respectful adult dog will give him a lead to follow, He loves to play with his mate. He will need house training and regular training like any puppy would. Like all puppies, he will need structure and a patient, loving home. We recommend training for all puppies—not only to give Marshmallow important learning skills, but because you and your puppy will create a stronger bond just by going through the training together. Sundae is fully vetted. He has been neutered, received age-appropriate vaccines, and is microchipped. Subsequent vaccines will be at the expense of his adopter. His adoption donation is $1200.00. He is on the hunt for his own completely committed family. Dogs can live to be 20+ years old, so Sundae wants to be sure his family is all in for better or for worse! IF INTERESTED IN A PUPPY (UNDER 12 MONTHS): You must have a very flexible work schedule or someone home all day. Puppies need to be let out to potty often. They need socialization, bonding, and training (housetraining and behavioral training). If you work long hours, have a busy social schedule, or are not financially secure, then a puppy is not for you. We adopt in and to the local Chicago metro area. We require home visits. Story
Amy's journey is nothing short of remarkable. She arrived at our rescue as an X-Puppymill Mom, along with three other standard poodles, in April 2023. On their first day, they stood frozen in the kitchen, huddled together, a poignant reminder of their past life at the mill. Three months later, they've made remarkable progress, learning how to embrace their new roles as cherished companions. However, it's essential to understand that when Amy transitions to her adoptive home, she may initially feel unsafe due to her shy nature. Amy has been gradually coming out of her shell, but she's still working on her potty skills. Therefore, her ideal home would be with someone who can provide frequent bathroom breaks every couple of hours. What's crucial is that Amy needs a patient and caring owner who is willing to let her set her own pace. In just a couple of months in her new home, we believe Amy will begin to feel safe and fully relax into the household routine. Amy is expected to thrive in a home with either a gentle, respectful dog or someone who is willing to spend a significant amount of time with her. This companionship will help her feel more secure as she continues to adjust to her new environment. She must also have a fenced-in and gated yard for her safety, given her shyer disposition. It's worth noting that once Amy does feel safe, she'll delight you with her charming poodle personality. She adores being pet, particularly on her head, and she'll happily sit next to you for hours, a testament to the affectionate and loving companion she's destined to become. Amy is 2-1/2 years old and fully vetted, She has been spayed, received age-appropriate vaccines, microchipped, and is heartworm negative, Subsequent vaccines are at the expense of her adopter Her adoption donation is $600.00.
