Story
Cocoa is a sweet, fun, loving, and gentle, yet strong, five-year-old, 77-pound, female chocolate Newfoundland/Poodle-mix with warm brown eyes looking for a loving guardian. Cocoa is a cuddler, perfectly housebroken, good in the car, loves walks, loves to run in fenced areas, and is well-behaved with other dogs in doggie daycare. Cocoa is looking for a true big-dog loving home. She’s tall so counter-surfing comes with the territory. For this reason, she is baby-gated out of the kitchen because she lives with small kids and steals their food. She would love to be the center of attention for someone, a couple, or family with older children, who are outdoorsy and enjoy being active. Cocoa is a regular at all her family’s sporting events. She loves children, but they tend to leave doors and gates open and she bolts! She is an escape risk. Cocoa is perfectly housebroken, well-behaved in the home, and just loves everyone and everything. She has been professionally trained and knows a bunch of commands. She is extremely healthy, fecal-tested and dewormed, spayed, up-to-date on rabies, distemper and bordetella vaccines, heartworm-tested and on monthly preventative, and microchipped. If you are interested in meeting and possibly adopting Cocoa, please fill out an adoption application at https://friendsofpetraits.com/dog-adoption-application/ and follow up to meet her by e-mailing friendsofpetraits@gmail.com Her adoption fee of $500 benefits the Friends of Petraits Rescue. She comes with absolutely everything you need to care for her: food, leash, bowls, collar, toys, etc. She is being fostered in Chicago.

Story
Sundae is a standard poodle puppy born 9/15/24 . He is a spirited little guy who will start out a bit shy. He was born in a commercial breeding facility and dogs not have the same puppy experiences a dog might have that was born in your home. He wasn't exposed to the same things at an early age. That being said, he is learning and adjusting well now that he is with us but he will need a patient family to go slowly and let him gain his trust.. He will blossom with time and patience. Sundae needs a home with a secure fenced in yard for his potty place, He is not a dog for an apartment or condo setting. He must have a home with another dog buddy to show him the ropes and give him confidence, Dogs born in commercial breeding facilities understand dogs better than people, A respectful adult dog will give him a lead to follow, He loves to play with his mate. He will need house training and regular training like any puppy would. Like all puppies, he will need structure and a patient, loving home. We recommend training for all puppies—not only to give Marshmallow important learning skills, but because you and your puppy will create a stronger bond just by going through the training together. Sundae is fully vetted. He has been neutered, received age-appropriate vaccines, and is microchipped. Subsequent vaccines will be at the expense of his adopter. His adoption donation is $1200.00. He is on the hunt for his own completely committed family. Dogs can live to be 20+ years old, so Sundae wants to be sure his family is all in for better or for worse! IF INTERESTED IN A PUPPY (UNDER 12 MONTHS): You must have a very flexible work schedule or someone home all day. Puppies need to be let out to potty often. They need socialization, bonding, and training (housetraining and behavioral training). If you work long hours, have a busy social schedule, or are not financially secure, then a puppy is not for you. We adopt in and to the local Chicago metro area. We require home visits. If you would like to apply to be considered as an adoption candidate, please fill out an application for adoption on our website at: https://www.rescuetailsanimalwelfare.org/info/adoption We are all volunteers with full-time jobs. Story
Amy's journey is nothing short of remarkable. She arrived at our rescue as an X-Puppymill Mom, along with three other standard poodles, in April 2023. On their first day, they stood frozen in the kitchen, huddled together, a poignant reminder of their past life at the mill. Three months later, they've made remarkable progress, learning how to embrace their new roles as cherished companions. However, it's essential to understand that when Amy transitions to her adoptive home, she may initially feel unsafe due to her shy nature. Amy has been gradually coming out of her shell, but she's still working on her potty skills. Therefore, her ideal home would be with someone who can provide frequent bathroom breaks every couple of hours. What's crucial is that Amy needs a patient and caring owner who is willing to let her set her own pace. In just a couple of months in her new home, we believe Amy will begin to feel safe and fully relax into the household routine. Amy is expected to thrive in a home with either a gentle, respectful dog or someone who is willing to spend a significant amount of time with her. This companionship will help her feel more secure as she continues to adjust to her new environment. She must also have a fenced-in and gated yard for her safety, given her shyer disposition. It's worth noting that once Amy does feel safe, she'll delight you with her charming poodle personality. She adores being pet, particularly on her head, and she'll happily sit next to you for hours, a testament to the affectionate and loving companion she's destined to become. Amy is 2-1/2 years old and fully vetted, She has been spayed, received age-appropriate vaccines, microchipped, and is heartworm negative, Subsequent vaccines are at the expense of her adopter Her adoption donation is $600.00. She is on the hunt for her own completely committed family, Dogs can live to be 20 years old so she wants to be sure her family is all in for better or for worse! Story
**This is a bonded pair that must be adopted together and remain together for life** Rascal and Tristan have only ever known one home, one person, and one life filled with love. But at 18 and 14 years old, everything they knew was suddenly taken away. The world they trusted has changed, and now they find themselves at Famous Fido Rescue, waiting for someone to open their heart to them in their golden years. Rascal, a gentle 18-year-old miniature poodle, may have a cataract in his left eye and struggle with incontinence, but his spirit is intact. He still enjoys the occasional burst of zoomies and carries a quiet presence that speaks to a lifetime of devotion. Tristan, at 14 years old, is a Poodle-Bichon mix who finds comfort in the joy of a tennis ball. He's found joy in many games of fetch through the years. Senior dogs experience heartbreak in a way few can truly understand. They don't know why their person isn't coming back. They don't know why their safe, warm home has been replaced with unfamiliar walls. All they know is that they're waiting - waiting for kindness, waiting for love, waiting to be chosen again.

Story
Cosmo is a 3-year-old Toy Poodle mix who is looking for a patient and understanding guardian to give him the loving home he deserves. He was rescued from an open-door shelter where he struggled to find interest from adopters, leaving him in a dire situation. While Cosmo is a sweet and affectionate companion, he does have some possessiveness over food, so he needs a home that can manage this with care and consistency. He enjoys his walks, does well crossing paths with other dogs, but would prefer to be the only dog in the home where he can receive undivided attention. Cosmo may have a few challenges, but he is just as deserving of love, stability, and a family who won’t give up on him.
