Story
Goose needs a foster or adopter.   This isn't the update we were hoping to share.   Many of you may remember Goose (formerly Koda), who was saved from euthanasia by heart stick in Arkansas. He spent the last year in a Denkai foster home, where he proved to be a sweet, affectionate boy. He did well with kids, got along with other dogs, loved his people, and was simply an overall good boy.   Like many dogs with difficult pasts, Goose had a few quirks. He was hesitant about walking down hallways, squeezing between parked cars, and exploring new rooms in the house. With patience and reassurance, he continued to build confidence and made great progress.   Goose was finally adopted in February, but unfortunately, it has not been the right match.   His adopter has reported that Goose has become increasingly fearful and unpredictable. He has gone from playing appropriately with the resident dogs to suddenly attacking one without obvious warning. He is reactive toward neighbor dogs, cats, and people from behind the fence (though he has never crossed it), is very fearful of men, and becomes anxious around young children. While Goose used to be content relaxing in his crate, he now becomes anxious and paces when confined. He still loves to snuggle, has no food aggression, and has so many wonderful qualities—but his current home is no longer the right environment for him.   We truly believe Goose's behaviors are rooted in fear and past trauma, not malice. He wants to be brave. We believe that with the right foster or adopter—someone experienced, patient, and willing to help him continue building confidence—Goose has every chance to succeed.   Because of the behaviors he's currently displaying, we're looking for an adult-only home with an experienced adopter or foster. A calm environment and thoughtful introductions to other dogs will be important as we learn more about what Goose needs to thrive.   If you've ever opened your heart to a dog who just needed someone to believe in them, Goose may be waiting for you.   Please help us give this deserving boy another chance.   To foster or adopt Goose, please visit www.denkaisanctuary.org or reach out to us with any questions. Even if you can't take him in, sharing this post could help him find the person he's been waiting for. ##2312979##
