Meet Nellie
Nellie is a resilient, loving girl who has overcome more than her fair share of challenges and is ready to find the peaceful retirement home she deserves.
While she was originally estimated to be younger, Nellie appears to be closer to 10 years old—a sweet senior girl looking for a soft place to land and a family to cherish her through her golden years.
Nellie was found on the side of the road in Houston, underweight and suffering from painful wounds. Despite everything she had endured, she never lost her gentle spirit. Since then, she has received the care she desperately needed, including surgery to remove a mass and a much-needed dental procedure. She has healed beautifully and continues to show everyone she meets just how special she is.
Nellie loves people and thrives on affection. She enjoys leisurely walks, relaxing in the sunshine, and spending quiet time with her favorite humans. She is potty trained, walks nicely on a leash, and is happiest when she can simply be near the people she loves.
As Nellie has settled into foster care, we've learned that she is likely experiencing vision loss and is also managing arthritis pain. Because of these challenges, she has become uncomfortable living with other dogs in the home. While she may have tolerated canine companions in the past, Nellie is telling us that she would be happiest as the only pet, where she can enjoy a predictable environment and receive all the love, care, and attention she deserves.
Nellie isn't asking for much—just a comfortable bed, a gentle routine, and someone to love. After everything she's been through, we'd love nothing more than to see this deserving senior spend her golden years feeling safe, cherished, and finally home.
