Story
Meet Rey! A one-year-old German Shepherd-Husky mix hailing from Gulfport, Mississippi. This sweet girl will travel anywhere for her loving family and is ready to embark on adventures wherever they may lead! Rey has quite a journey behind her. Rescued from harsh conditions, she endured abuse and neglect before being left to fend for herself. Despite her past, this resilient pup has not lost her zest for life! Her favorite pastimes include chewing on bones, playing with toys, and indulging in the occasional shoe (for dogs, of course!). Despite her tumultuous start, Rey has retained her loving and playful nature, showcasing resilience and an unwavering capacity for affection. While she may initially display signs of timidity, Rey is quick to warm up to those who show her kindness and patience. She does well with young children, enjoying the energy and playfulness they bring. She longs for a family who will provide her with the love and security she deserves, and she is ready to reciprocate that love! To ensure her happiness and safety, Rey requires a fenced-in yard where she can explore and play freely. She thrives in an environment filled with patience, understanding, and affection. Her ideal family will embrace her high energy and playful antics, providing her with the care and attention she needs to thrive. Ray, is a 50-pound bundle of energy and Husky spirit. She can be timid in public when encountering strangers but excels on the leash and tends to stick close to those she trusts. In the presence of strangers, she retreats to her kennel, remaining shy and quiet. Rey craves ample space, loves to run and play outdoors, and would be an excellent companion for running and hiking enthusiasts. She's particularly fond of chasing laser lights at night, which is a great way to burn off her excess energy. Despite her initial shyness, Ray is incredibly sweet and gentle, although she has a love for destroying toys and engaging in typical Husky behaviors such as digging and vocalizing. Rest assured, Rey is up-to-date on her vaccines, spayed, and microchipped, ready to embark on the next chapter of her life. Story
Meet Otto! A 2-year-old purebred German Shepherd hailing from North Palm Beach, FL, is eagerly seeking his next loving family, wherever they may be. This athletic canine is a sweet soul, deeply devoted to those he holds dear, showcasing remarkable obedience and an innate desire to bring joy to those around him. Whether he's frolicking in the yard or lounging in the sun, Otto's gentle spirit shines through in everything he does! One of Otto's greatest joys in life is riding shotgun in the car, his ears flapping in the breeze as he eagerly anticipates the adventures ahead. Trained both on and off leash, Otto is a shining example of canine obedience, effortlessly following commands like sit, down, stay, come, wait, drop it, place, and the ever-important "ok." Although Otto has a gentle soul, he has faced some behavioral challenges in the past. He has shown signs of aggression towards several individuals and has unfortunately bitten two people, likely due to fear. While his bites were not severe, Otto may bark and lunge when he feels threatened by certain people. Despite these challenges, Otto's resilience shines through when he's left alone for short periods. His crate serves as a cozy retreat, providing him with a sense of security and comfort in his solitude. With his playful demeanor and moderate energy levels, Otto makes for a delightful companion for families willing to provide him with the love and care he deserves. Otto will do best in a quieter home, with not a lot of people coming and going. While he does like many people, he gets nervous easily. To make sure that Otto has a great start with his new family, we have a canine behaviorist available for a free consultation. Vaccinated, neutered, and microchipped, Otto is ready to embark on his next chapter with a family who will cherish him as a beloved member of the pack. So, if you're ready to open your heart and home to this loyal and loving German Shepherd, reach out to adopt@joyfulpets.com for more information on how to make Otto a part of your family today!

Story
Hello, I'm Sampson. It's a delight to make your acquaintance. I hold the record for being the longest resident dog at Abandoned Pet Rescue. Spending five years in a shelter is quite a long time for a majestic 10 1/2-year-old German Shepherd like me. When I first arrived, I became protective of my kennel, and it takes me a while to trust new human friends. However, I have formed strong bonds with a few staff members and volunteers over the years who enjoy walking, training, and playing with me. I am in need of an experienced adopter who understands my quirks and protective, loyal nature, someone comfortable with my 100-pound size (that's a lot of charm!). I am seeking a soulmate in the South Florida area willing to invest time in getting to know me at the shelter before I transition to a new home. The shelter staff will demonstrate my leash-walking skills (I am even trained to wear a muzzle) and how quickly I pick up new tricks like speak, paw, and sit. I enjoy car rides and have recently discovered the delight of a Starbucks Puppuccino. My dream is to have a peaceful, calm home with a fenced yard and an abundance of squeaky toys (my favorite!). I am looking for a home without cats or kids, but I do enjoy the companionship of other dogs with a proper introduction. If you are interested in knowing more about me, please complete an adoption application at abandonedpetrescue.org. Kindly spread the word about me so I can find my perfect forever home.To meet this adoptable pet, please fill out an adoption application at www.abandonedpetrescue.org and a team member will contact you to schedule an appointment.
