Story
Meet Forrest! ðŸ\x90¾At just 1½ years old, Forrest is a handsome German Shepherd with a heart of gold and enough energy to keep you smiling every day. If you’re looking for a hiking buddy, adventure partner, or a dog who’s always ready to play, Forrest is your guy!He absolutely loves other dogs and would happily spend his day wrestling with canine friends or carrying his favorite toy around the yard. He’s a busy boy through and through—don’t expect him to be the kind of dog who spends all afternoon snoozing on the couch. Forrest thrives when he has a job to do, room to explore, and an active family to keep up with.Forrest can make a big first impression. When meeting new people, he tends to bark loudly, which can be intimidating if you don’t know him. The truth is, no one ever taught him how to politely greet strangers. Once he’s given the chance to say hello and gets a few pets, his tough-guy act disappears and he’s all about making new friends.Despite being only 1½ years old, Forrest has already been through four homes. Through no fault of his own, he’s never had the consistency he deserves. What he really needs is someone willing to give him structure, patience, and the time to let him settle in. In return, you’ll gain an incredibly loyal companion. He’s done wonderfully with leash training and already knows several commands including sit, down, come (here), and heel. He also has some adorable signature moves—he loves to offer his paw and give hugs! He’s kennel trained and settles in well, though if he hasn’t had enough physical and mental exercise, he’ll definitely let you know he’s ready to get back to having fun.Forrest would do best with an active family that understands the needs of a young German Shepherd and is excited to continue building his confidence and skills. Give this sweet boy the chance he’s been waiting for, and he’ll reward you with endless loyalty, love, and unforgettable adventures. Apply at www.foreverhomedogs.org to meet him!All adoptions are $300 per dog for puppies under 1 year, $250 for adults 1 - 9 years old and $150 for senior dogs which include spay/neuter, micro-chipped and up-to-date on required shots. Senior dogs, at our discretion, are adopted out at $150 per dog because we know they will have less time with your family and may eventually have more needs as they get older. But we feel these dogs deserve to live out the rest of their lives as part of a loving family.
