Story
Hi, I’m Florence!! I’m 45 pounds of muscle, wiggles, and absolutely no understanding of personal space. Around here, I’ve earned the nickname “Pocket Pittie” because despite being a short, stocky little lady, I am fully convinced I belong in your lap. And if you’d like to carry me around? Well… I certainly won’t stop you. Hope you’ve been working out!
People are ‘My Love’, seriously. I love leaning in for hugs, climbing into laps, and occasionally standing up on my back legs just to get a little closer to you. I also provide my own little soundtrack of grunts and snorting noises wherever I go. It’s hard to describe and even harder not to laugh, apparently, I just have a lot to say.
In my kennel, you’ll usually find me curled up like a tiny cinnamon roll, until one of my favorite people walks by! Then my whole-body lights up and I can’t resist popping up to say hello, tail wagging and hoping you’ve brought some attention (or let’s be real, a treat). I can get a little enthusiastic about my greetings but ask me to sit and I’ll happily show you that I know how, especially if there’s a snack involved!
Outside, I love taking my time sniffing around the yard, breaking out the occasional zoomies, and showing off a good sploot when the mood strikes. I’m very food motivated, already know sit and I’m working hard on other commands and my leash manners. I’m a strong little thing and can still pull when I’m excited, but I’m learning! Give me an extra-tough chew when we’re done and I’ll be one happy girl, just don’t underestimate my ability to destroy anything softer.
As much as I adore people, I’ve decided I’d rather be the queen of my castle when it comes to animals. After several introductions, we’ve learned that I come on a little too strong with other dogs, and cats are much too interesting to me, so I’m looking for a home where I can be your one and only pet. Because of my strength and enthusiasm, I’d also be happiest with older kids rather than little ones.
Shelter life can make me a little antsy, and my potty habits here haven’t been perfect. My friends think a consistent home routine, patience, and plenty of opportunities to go outside may help me get on the right track, but my future family should be prepared to work with me while I adjust.
I may be a little powerhouse, but underneath it all, I’m an incredibly loving girl who wants nothing more than people of my own. Take me on an adventure, stroll around the neighborhood with me, or save me a spot on the couch (preferably directly on your lap). Whatever we’re doing, I just want to do it with you.
I’m more than ready for my Dog Days to be Over. If you think I could be your Cosmic Love, call 859.873.5491 to learn more about me or schedule an appointment to come meet me!
