Story
About Elsa:Elsa is a young husky mix with bright eyes and a sensitive soul. She hasn’t been with us long, and while we don’t know everything about her past, it’s clear that the big, wide world feels a little overwhelming to her right now. Elsa is a cautious girl who takes time to trust, but once she does, she forms a deep bond and likes to stay close to the person she feels safe with. Underneath the nerves is a sweet, intelligent dog who is still learning that life can be safe and good.Ideal Home:Elsa will need a very patient, understanding home willing to take things slow and help her build confidence at her own pace. At this time, we would recommend a quiet home without children or other pets so she can focus on feeling secure. An adopter who is interested in training and positive confidence-building would be a wonderful fit for her. Elsa can be nervous around men and seems uncomfortable around female dogs, so thoughtful introductions and calm environments are important.Training and Skills:Elsa is still learning about the world and would benefit greatly from continued training to help her grow in confidence. Her crate is currently her safe space where she feels secure and able to relax. With time, patience, and consistency, Elsa has the potential to make incredible progress.Favourites:• Being close to the person she trusts• Quiet environments• Her crate, where she feels safe• Gentle, calm interactionsDislikes:• Loud or overwhelming situations• Fast introductions to new people• Living with other pets at this timeHow to Adopt:If you’re interested in adopting, please visit us at 107 McLaughlin Road, Lindsay, Tuesday to Sunday 11 am–6 pm, contact us by email info@hskl.ca or phone at 705-878-4618. You can also fill out an application by following the link https://hskl.ca/adopt/dog-application.html and we will contact you shortly.Keep in mind some of our dogs are in foster care and an appointment will need to be made for meet and greets.Elsa is the kind of dog who will need someone willing to believe in her before she fully believes in the world. Dogs like her can take time, patience, and compassion—but watching them slowly come out of their shell and learn to trust is one of the most rewarding journeys a person can take with an animal.
