Story
At 2 years old, Cody has spent his entire life in rescue waiting for the right person to see him for who he really is: a deeply loyal, goofy, affectionate dog with so much love to give. Missing a back leg has never slowed Cody down. He is fully mobile, full of life, and happiest when he’s chasing a ball, exploring on walks, or climbing directly into your lap for cuddles. His zoomies are elite, his kisses are endless, and if you sit down near him, there’s a very good chance he’ll decide your lap belongs to him. Cody is incredibly smart and loves learning with his people. He already knows sit, down, stay, heel, center, and wait/take it, and he thrives with structure, consistency, and someone he trusts by his side. Cody isn’t a dog who shows his best self in loud adoption events or busy, chaotic environments. The world can sometimes feel like a lot to him, especially around unfamiliar people and dogs, so he needs time and space to feel safe. Once he knows you and realizes you’re part of his circle, though, you get to see the Cody his foster family knows and loves — silly, affectionate, playful, and incredibly devoted to his people. Cody is looking for a calm, lower-traffic home where he can settle into a predictable routine and be the center of someone’s world. He would do best as the only pet and with someone who understands that trust doesn’t always happen overnight. He needs a person willing to give him the time and space to build a relationship at his own pace. Cody may not be the right dog for every home, and that’s okay. He doesn’t need every home. He just needs one person to give him a chance. For that person, Cody has an incredible amount of love waiting to give.
