Story
Red is a handsome 10-year-old German Shepherd weighing in at 91 pounds of pure loyalty and heart. A true gentleman in his golden years, Red lives for his ball—toss it once and you’ve got his full attention and a happy tail to match. He’s also very snack-motivated, which makes him a joy to engage with and a great candidate for gentle enrichment and continued learning.
Red really shines when he has a steady, predictable routine. Knowing what to expect helps him feel secure and confident, and he thrives when his days are filled with familiar walks, playtime, and well-earned rest. He’s the kind of dog who appreciates the simple things: consistency, companionship, and a good treat after a job well done.
If you’re looking for a loyal, ball-loving companion who’s ready to enjoy his golden years with grace (and snacks), Red is your guy
Because the shelter environment isn’t ideal for fully assessing behavior, we aren’t able to accurately determine how Red would do with other dogs, cats, or children. A quieter home with patient adopters who are willing to go at his pace would suit him best.
If you’re looking for a loyal companion with an old-soul personality, a love of routine, and just the right amount of grumpy charm, Red may be your perfect match.
Since many of our adoptable dogs are in foster homes, appointments are highly recommended to ensure the animal you are interested in is currently at the shelter. Please call or e-mail the shelter to set up an appointment to meet and adopt!
Our adoption fees include the following: all of our dogs/puppies are current on vaccinations (DHPP and Rabies if over 3 months of age) at the point of adoption, dewormed, heartworm tested and current on preventative, microchipped, treated for fleas/ticks and are spayed or neutered. Our large dog adoption fee is generally $175 + tax. Our small dog and puppy adoption fee is generally $300+ tax. Adoption fees may vary in special circumstances. Due to space limitations, we do not hold dogs.
Because we are on a busy street, we require that all dogs leaving the shelter be in a carrier or on leash. All pets remain up for adoption until an approved application is processed and their adoption fee paid.
