Story
Bobbie is the kind of dog who forms a deep bond with his person and never wants to leave their side.
When I first saw him at the shelter, the odds were stacked against him. He was a pit bull mix, heartworm positive, and completely out of time at a very high kill shelter in Tulsa. Three strikes against him before anyone even gave him a chance.
But Bobbie made it out alive.
Since then, he has completed heartworm treatment and has tested negative, so he is officially healthy and ready for a real home.
Bobbie is incredibly human-focused and loyal. He follows me everywhere, walks beautifully on leash, does well in a crate, and genuinely just wants to be near his person at all times. He asks for affection constantly and has the kind of personality that makes him feel more like a companion than “just a dog.”
When he first arrived at the rescue, he was overwhelmed by all the dogs rushing up to greet him at once. Coming from the streets of Tulsa where he likely had to fend for himself, he was unsure and gave warning growls when crowded. But once he realized the other dogs here were not a threat, he settled in beautifully and now does exceptionally well with all of them, including tiny Chihuahuas.
That said, Bobbie honestly couldn’t care less about being part of a dog pack. He would much rather focus on his human. He wants connection, attention, companionship, and someone to follow through life.
Dog parks or chaotic environments with unfamiliar dogs rushing him probably are not the best fit for him. But walks, adventures, errands, lounging at home, and everyday life with his person? That is exactly where he shines.
