Story
1 and 1/2 year old Estrella is a Shepherd cross looking for a home. She weighs approximately 44 lbs. She is a gorgeous mixed breed dog - lean and sporty looking, with lovely colouring. Estrella and her litter of 5 were found near the SPCA Puerto Vallarta sanctuary in Mexico. Their mum Keisha was tied up and left blind after surviving being poisoned. The puppies were in very poor condition suffering from malnourishment at such a young age. Estrella is now in foster in Kelowna, BC with 2 dogs. She is good with dogs and cats, but can be timid to start. She enjoys walking with her siblings or other friends when exploring new areas. When she would walk with her blind mum she would guide her along and make sure she was safe. Estrella is doing well with the 2 dogs in her foster home, and cuddles up with them in gratitude for them kindly showing her her new world. Estrella is good with people. She'd like a home with a yard, in a non urban centre. She loves the beach, swimming and playing frisbee. If you think you might be a good fit for Estrella please email pvcaadoptions@gmail.com and tell us a little bit about yourself, and we can send you an application, or you can go directly to our application: https://forms.office.com/r/b1Fkq3u4zw See more here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8JIMJsXaANs

Story
⚔️He is no masked warrior, but this Zorro is a handsome rascal who's after your heart nonetheless! Zorro is a 3-year-old male terrier cross weighing 45 pounds. He answers to Sergeant Zorro, Sarg and Sergeant Scruffy 😉. 🐕With proper introductions, this pooch is doing great with his foster fur sibling and other dogs, but has taken issue with some overly dominant furry friends in the past. Careful introductions and supervision is key! Zorro has not had proper interactions with children, but has done well when meeting them in public. He is a perfect gentleman on leash, but can pull when interested in something! ☀️Play in the sun, have some fun, and then relax with you nearby is a perfect day for him! He is also mastering the game of fetch. Zorro soaks up the love and is one sweet boy. He loves cuddles, pets, affection, curling up in front of the fire and snuggles under the covers if welcome. As a former LA resident, he seeks heat wherever he can, including snuggling up to the resident pooch! ❤This guy is not one to contain! He does wonderfully when left loose in the house and is not destructive, but he will not go into his crate. He loves to sleep on his bed and will even come onto your bed for a morning cuddle if he's allowed! He is fully house trained. Zorro does show some marking behaviour when entering a new space but is receptive to correction. 🚨Of note: Zorro has a bad habit of sometimes getting laser focused on something. Things like a person or dog walking by or a strange noise he doesn't understand. When he's in that "fixation zone" please note: ➡️He can get reactive and is very hard to distract. ➡️It is best to use a leash to pull him away, versus grabbing his collar, as he will snap with collar pull. ➡️He will bolt after something in this state. Zorro has not been tested with cats or other small animals.

Story
📣 Calling all Southeast BC and Southwest AB friends! Everett is a 1 year old male husky, available for adoption through PIF but currently being fostered outside of our usual area. We are hoping there may be potential adopters near the East Kootenay region to allow for ease with meets etc. Everett also LOVES the snow, the mountains, and the cold - So he would be well suited to stay in the Rockies if possible! 🏔 Everett has a lot of traits that are typical of huskies - He is extremely smart, sweet, stubborn, and has a high level huskitude. He knows basic commands, but has the potential to learn so much more with proper training. Like his sled dog ancestors, Everett has a VERY strong pull drive. He is 70 solid pounds and puts his full weight against the leash (…and even more if he sees another dog), so his human will need a strong upper body - and also a strong desire to take him on outdoor adventures! Everett loves to run, play, and explore. He would be a great hiking, snowshoeing, or jogging buddy. He isn't the kind of husky who needs a marathon every day, but he does need more than just a walk around the block to keep him from going squirrelly. Everett has a beautiful off switch after he's had adequate attention and time outside. And like most huskies he sheds, a lot 😁 Everett is all heart when it comes to his people. He loves so hard, and is extremely loyal and affectionate towards the humans he knows and trusts. He follows his people everywhere, melts into a puddle of floof with belly and chest rubs, and is the happiest dog in the whole world if given the privilege of full-body-contact snuggles. However, when it comes to people Everett doesn't know or trust he can act unsettled and be quite protective of his yard/home/personal space. He appears to be most triggered by adult men of a large stature, and has air snapped at several men who reached or moved into his territory. Everett will need a home with a well fenced yard and without frequent visitors, where his social circle can remain limited and his human interactions be calm and controlled. He would thrive with a human who is is steady and confident, who is understanding of his breed, and who has experience with reactivity. Everett loves to roughhouse and would do very well with a young, energetic, large breed doggy sibling (though he can be a bit of an attention hog, so would also be content on his own!). Like most huskies he has a prey drive and should not be around cats, small dogs, chickens, or puppies. Homes with children of any age, including teenagers, will not be considered out of an abundance of caution. Everett is crate trained, house trained, and non-destructive when left alone inside. He is neutered and up-to-date on his vaccines, but potential adopters should be aware that Everett is suspected to have a condition called Zinc Responsive Dermatosis. Specific to northern breeds, Zinc Responsive Dermatosis causes Everett to be prone to ear infections, eye infections, and skin lesions around his mouth and muzzle. Everett's symptoms are well controlled with diet (nothing fancy, just a special kibble found online and in most pet stores that is high in the nutrients he needs), however he still experiences the occasional flare-up. Everett's current vet has established a great treatment protocol, so the frequency/severity of his symptom flare-ups is decreasing. This condition is lifelong though, so Everett will need a family who is comfortable with caring for the physical needs of a ‘dermatology dog' (if you've been there, you'll know…), and who is prepared for the additional costs associated with more frequent veterinary visits. So if your social life is small, your love of outdoor adventures is big, and your heart is shaped like a husky, we'd love to hear from you. Everett is such a good boy and he deserves a very good home.
