Story
Meet Stacy 🐾 Stacy is a 1.5 year old Husky/Shepherd mix with the most stunning eyes — one bright blue and one warm brown that make her even more unforgettable. She’s a very gentle, sweet soul who can be a little shy at first, but underneath that soft personality is a silly, loving girl just waiting to blossom. She does wonderful with kids, cats, and other dogs, especially calm and gentle dogs that help her feel safe and comfortable. Stacy loves to play, has a goofy side once she settles in, and is eager to learn and please her people. She’s both crate trained and housebroken, too! Stacy will thrive with a loving family that can continue helping her build confidence and show her how loved she truly is. With a little reassurance and kindness, she’s going to make an absolutely incredible companion for one very lucky family. She’s spayed, fully vaccinated, and ready to find her forever home 💛

Introducing Cayenne 🌶️🤍 Cayenne is a beautiful 2 year old Shepherd/Husky mix with the perfect balance of playful energy and snuggly sweetness. She’s incredibly smart and picks up on things quickly, always eager to learn and impress. With her adorable looks and fun, goofy personality, she’s the kind of dog that keeps you smiling every single day. She has a moderate energy level, so she’s happy to run around and play, but just as content curling up beside you for some quality cuddle time. Cayenne is crate trained and doing really well with house training, making her an easy addition to a home ready for a loyal companion. She does great with kids and other dogs, but would do best in a home without cats. Cayenne is spayed, fully vaccinated, and ready to find her forever home where she can be loved as much as she loves in return 🐾

Story
ABOUT SARAH Who doesn't love a snuggly shepherd?! Sarah is a 3-year-old German Shepherd looking for a fresh start. She came to HAP from a high-intake shelter in Georgia when they no longer had space for her. There, Sarah had six beautiful babies, but all were at risk of euthanasia due to lack of space. We knew we could help Sarah and her pups, so they made the venture to Delaware! Shortly after arriving, Sarah let us know that she was over her puppies shark teeth and needed some TLC for herself. Since giving her kids up for adoption, Sarah has been happier than ever! While she is a friendly girl, she is true to her breed. The more time you spend with her, the more snuggly and loving she becomes. When she's not melting into someone's lap, Sarah is happy to explore outside. She loves going for long walks, learning new tricks, and making friends. Sarah has done well meeting other adult dogs, though we'd recommend dogs that can keep up with her size and energy! If you are interested in adopting this dog, please submit an adoption questionnaire! Our adoption process is on a first-come, best-match basis and we are not able to hold animals. If you are interested in this specific dog but it ends up not being the best fit upon meeting, our adoption counselors will work with you to help find a match! All household members, including children and other dogs, must come along for the meeting to make sure it's a good fit. If a match is made, we encourage same-day adoptions! Our adoption fees include the animals' spay/neuter, microchip, age-appropriate vaccinations and preventatives, fecal testing, heartworm testing, and a small bag of food to get you started.

Story
ABOUT LUNA Meet princess Luna, a 4-year-old Husky mix seeking a patient, experienced owner who understands her unique personality. Luna arrived at HAP, scared and unsure of the world around her. While we don’t know her full history, it’s clear she has endured some hardships. It took her a while to trust us, so she may need patience at your first meeting, but once she feels safe, her true self shines through! Luna is a sweet, playful, and wonderfully goofy girl with a classic Husky sassiness. She’s vocal about her feelings, loves playing with toys of all kinds, and enjoys chasing tennis balls. She thrives spending time outside sniffing, running, and playing. Once inside, she loves to curl up on her fluffy blankets and chew on her bones. Luna has a “less is more” quality, she’ll leave you wanting more, and she appreciates a slower, respectful approach when first meeting new people. While Luna has been able to pass other dogs with redirection, she hasn’t made any canine friends yet and may do best as the only pet in a home where she can be the pampered princess. Once she feels comfortable, she seeks out and enjoys affection, but she communicates her boundaries clearly and may escalate if her space isn’t respected. For this reason, Luna would thrive with older, respectful family members who understand and honor her communication style. With patience, love, and understanding, Luna will grow into a loyal and loving companion who brings joy, laughter, and a touch of Husky mischief into your home! **If interested in adopting Luna, please reach out to our trainer, Ben Touchton, at btouchton@hapde.org Our adoption process is on a first-come, best-match basis and we are not able to hold animals. Story
Auri is a full-grown, TINY (45 lb) GSD (possible mix) She had a rough past prior to her adoption but has grown into strong, happy pup. She is definitely a complicated lady who is working through some baggage but she has come a long way and will be a loyal, loving companion to the right adopters! Auri is an anxious and reactive pup. She can get pretty excited when she sees other dogs and gets upset around strangers, particularly in her house. She will nip at people if she feels threatened but has learned bite inhibition. All that having been said, she has come a LOOONG way since we adopted her and I believe she can continue to grow with the right training and the right home situation. Auri would do well in a home with a fairly predictable schedule with humans that can take her for long walks and play with her and her toys. She is an absolute sweetheart who likes cuddles and licks noses. She is housetrained and not much of a barker (whining on the other hand...)
