Meet Tank, a handsome 1-year-old Husky mix with the most piercing blue eyes and a sweet, sensitive soul to match. Tank weighs 30 + pounds and is looking for a patient family who will give him the time and encouragement he needs to discover his confidence.Tank and his brother, Brownie, were surrendered to the shelter after their owners lost their housing. The shelter environment has been especially overwhelming for Tank, and he is shyer and more reserved than his brother. He can be nervous when meeting new people and experiencing unfamiliar things, but underneath that initial shyness is a very sweet boy who is slowly learning that people can be trusted. Tank is the kind of pup who may need you to say, “No pressure, buddy. Take your time!” Once he feels comfortable, we expect that his true personality will begin to shine. With patience, positive reinforcement, and plenty of encouragement, Tank has so much potential to blossom into a happy, playful, and affectionate companion.Like many young Huskies, Tank will likely have plenty of energy and curiosity once he settles into a home. He would benefit from general training to help build his confidence, socialize him, and teach him how to walk nicely on a leash. His ideal family will be active but patient—people who are ready to take Tank on adventures, introduce him to new experiences at his own pace, and show him that the world isn`t nearly as scary as it seems. And let`s be honest…with those gorgeous blue eyes, Tank is going to have a pretty easy time convincing you that he deserves just one more treat.Tank is dog friendly, and a meet-and-greet is required. His compatibility with cats and children is unknown.Tank is also available through our Foster-to-Adopt Program, which means you can welcome him into your home now while he finishes his veterinary care with the shelter. During this time, he`ll receive his vaccines, neuter, microchip, and heartworm testing—everything he needs to begin his next chapter safe, healthy, and loved. Tank may be a little more hesitant than his brother right now, but we believe there is a whole lot of love, fun, and personality waiting to come out once he feels safe.
