Story
Handsome, charming, and adventurous - Kodi is the perfect man! Kodi is estimated to be around 10 years old, but don't let his age fool you - he is a curious and active guy who lives for fun. His favorite part of his day is going for a long walk, and he would be a wonderful companion who needs an active sidekick to join them for lots of adventures. After a day of fun, he loves nothing more than curling up on the couch with his foster dad and enjoying some quality hangout time. Kodi weighs about 26lbs. Kodi was found as a stray and brought to a local shelter. We were all surprised when a family didn't claim him, but we were more than happy to add him to the rescue, and he has been thriving in his foster home ever since. Kodi is a confident, affectionate, and on-the-move guy who is eager to make friends with everyone he meets. He was a rockstar at a recent adoption event and did great meeting all the new people. Typically, Shiba Inus are aloof of new people, but Kodi loves socializing, especially if treats are involved. He is very food-motivated! Kodi appears to have learned basic commands before coming to us, but he is still working on not pulling on a leash, so he will need some work on that.  Kodi is the only animal in his foster home, but he seems eager to make friends with other dogs and may enjoy having a doggie playmate in his new home. He also wouldn't mind being your one and only, but would love playdates with other dogs. We haven't seen Kodi around cats, but he seems somewhat interested in chasing critters on walks, so he may not be a good fit to live with cats. Kodi has done very well meeting kids 10 years and older and could be a wonderful family dog for a family with older kids. Kodi appears housetrained and has been doing very well with his crate training. He will need some time to adjust to a new routine and environment, but he has very good house manners when settled in. Being a Shiba Inu, Kodi has a dense undercoat and sheds A LOT. His new family should be prepared for lots of fur and must be willing to take the time to brush him often to help when his coat blows out. Kodi is such a fabulous guy and deserves a family that can shower him with love and take him on lots of adventures. If you think that might be you, submit an application today!   Kodi's adoption fee is $400.   Apply to adopt here!  https://form.jotform.com/52017002013129/   Applications are also available on the website (www.yolospca.org)  It can take up to 3-5 business days to hear back once you have submitted an application. The Yolo County SPCA is a private, not-for-profit, foster home-based animal rescue organization and does not have a shelter. All our animals awaiting adoption are in foster homes. Our adoption fees help us cover the cost of spay/neuter surgery, microchip and registration, and rabies vaccination (if over 4 months of age at intake or spay/neuter) for all animals. Dogs are tested for heartworm, started on preventatives, and given a DAPP vaccination. Adult dogs are up to date on their vaccinations prior to adoption. Puppies will be current on the vaccinations appropriate to their age. The adopter is responsible for additional vaccinations as necessary after the adoption. For more information about an animal, please email dogs@yolospca.org. For more general questions, please see our website at www.yolospca.org. December 21, 2025, 5:53 pm
