Story
Meet Hamol! He is the sweetest boyl! He is a 2 year old that was rescued from a dog meat farm in South Korea.  We have partners we work with there that pull these dogs from the worst horrors imaginable.  Many of these dogs start off in horiffic puppy mill type facilities on tiny rabbit cage size wire crates in complete filth.  If they are not sold at 6 or 8 weeks then they either stay for a couple years to be used to breed more and then are sold off to the meat trade, or they are sold off right away.  Jindo's and Tosa's are the most common meat type dogs, and are very commonly bred specifically for their meat and the meat farms also act as breeding farms until they reach a good age and weight. South Korea is one of the only countries that actually farms dogs for their meat.   Restaurants will serve a dish called " bosintang ", which stands for "dog meat soup". It's a popular dish in South  Korea,  and is said to act as an aphrodisiac for men.    Little dogs are used for elixirs and potions.  The younger generation is mostly against this practice and many choose to not eat them, and we can only hope in time with education and generations of change that an end will come to this horrific trade.  Hamo and some of his family and friends have been flown here for a chance at a future and a real life.  These are miracle dogs that they are alive today.  Our adoption fee is $600 which helps offset some of the flight costs.  If you are interested in adopting, please fill out an application form at  https://form.jotform.com/oscarlucy/dog-adoption-app January 21, 2026, 5:38 pm

Story
We received Kenzo from our niece in Nevada - so we drove him home as a 2-month old puppy. He will be 2 years old in February 2026. We realize he is now spending more time at the doggie day care than he is here at home. He is an active dog, who really likes to play and run around. With our full time jobs and small child, he is beyond what we can continue to sustain. He lives indoors, and is able to communicate when he needs to go out. He is crate trained, which is useful when needed. If Kenzo is able to have a yard and nearby park, he will do well. He is used to a play session to stimulate his BM and does enjoy play time with other dogs - although he does not seem to care for cats or possums much! 😅 He has never attacked one, but he will follow them and bark at them. Great dog - just not the right season of life for us.

Story
All of our dogs are spayed/neutered, shots current (DHPP, Bordetella and Rabies where applicable), dewormed, flea and tick treated, and microchipped.  * If you are interested in a dog, please first read the biography on the dog (keep scrolling down for the bio!) and then go to our website, www.dpsrescue.com for an application. Our adoption fees vary. Each biography will specifically list the adoption fee. This dog will be at the Palo Alto Pet Food Express on Saturday, January 24th from 12-3pm unless adopted prior to the event. To be considered for adoption, pls submit an application in advance.   Adoption fee: $700 Meet Skippy & Jif  Skippy and Jif are 10–12 week old Shiba mix puppies, each weighing about 9 lbs, who came to our rescue from a trusted Southern California partner. While they share a peanut butter–themed beginning, we are seeking separate homes where each puppy can truly shine as the center of attention. Both are sweet, affectionate babies with that ideal puppy balance of loving calm moments and playful bursts of energy. They are the kind of puppies who happily cuddle one minute and enthusiastically play the next. Named after the iconic peanut butter brands, Skippy and Jif fit their names perfectly, though in very different and equally charming ways. Jif Jif is the smooth peanut butter of the pair. He is comforting, gentle, and quietly affectionate. He has a stocky little puppy build, an adorably round belly, and deep, soulful eyes that immediately pull you in. Jif loves curling up in a lap, soaking in attention, and staying close to his people. He enjoys playtime and wrestling, but once the excitement winds down, he is the first to settle in for cuddles. He has a naturally calm presence for such a young puppy and brings a steady, sweet energy wherever he goes. Skippy Skippy is the crunchy peanut butter. She is confident, curious, and full of sparkle. Her rust-gold coat catches the light beautifully, and her striking hazel eyes are impossible to miss. Skippy loves to explore, initiate play, and proudly show off her toys. She is playful and spirited, but still very people-oriented and affectionate. After she has burned off her puppy energy, she happily checks back in for snuggles and reassurance. Daily Routine Their day usually starts around 7am with happy wiggles, excited whines, and mild disbelief that bedtime ever ended. After a potty break, it is breakfast time. Kibble is available throughout the day, but they tend to eat on a puppy schedule in the morning, around midday, and again in the early evening. Once fueled up, they dive into playtime both indoors and outside, usually romping for about an hour at a time. When playtime winds down, they gravitate toward their foster’s lap for cuddles. That is followed by another potty break and a nap in their pen or crate. They typically nap for 60 to 75 minutes before waking up ready to start the cycle again. By around 9pm, they settle in for the night, with an optional late potty break if needed. Play & Personality When playing together, Skippy and Jif put on a full puppy performance. There is wrestling, chasing, playful growling, and the occasional dramatic tumble. When squeaky toys appear, they instantly become allies and team up for epic tug-of-war sessions. They are also just beginning to understand fetch and will sometimes bring the ball back, usually so they can grab it and run off again. Both puppies are affectionate and very people-focused. When given space to explore, they choose to stay close to their humans rather than wander off. They are vocal in sweet, age-appropriate ways, greeting people with happy sounds and briefly protesting when confined, though they settle quickly. Training & Home Life Training has just begun, and treats are a powerful motivator. They are learning to sit and are eager to please. They get daily collar and leash time in the driveway, which they are still adjusting to. Potty pads are used reliably overnight, while daytime potty training is still a work in progress, which is completely normal for their age. They have not been on formal walks yet but do well with respectful children ages 12 and 15. They tolerate gentle handling well and have medium puppy energy. They are playful and active without being overwhelming. The Perfect Fit Skippy and Jif would each thrive in a loving home ready for puppy joy, cuddles, and a little chaos. They are happy, affectionate babies who are eager to bond deeply with their people and become someone’s very best companion. Whether you lean smooth or crunchy, each puppy is ready to stick to your heart.January 21, 2026, 2:17 pm

📌 Important Adoption Information: All of our dogs are currently living in private shelters or foster homes in South Korea. Once an adoption is approved, dogs will travel to the United States through legal and approved international transport procedures. Video calls are available prior to adoption, and adopters can communicate with our rescue team in real time through our official organization and app-based messaging channels throughout the process. • Rescue Story: Meet Ellong 👋 Ellong was found on the streets of South Korea in 2018 and rescued just moments before euthanasia. Against the odds, she survived—and in 2021, she finally found what we all believed was her forever home. Sadly, after four years of being part of a family, Ellong was returned to the shelter. We were heartbroken and confused to hear that she was said not to coexist well with another dog—after four years together. Despite this painful chapter, Ellong remains one of the most well-behaved and gentle dogs at the shelter. She carries no bitterness, only quiet hope. We truly wish for Ellong to find a real forever home this time—one that will stand by her, cherish her, and never abandon her again💛 • Personality: Affectionate, Gentle, Friendly Ellong is full of affection and loves people. She adapts quickly to new places. Energy level is mid-low. • Affinity with - Dogs: Does well around other dogs - Cats: Not tested - Adults/Kids: Great with all people / Hasn't experienced kids, but we believe she would be fine with calm older kids. • Housetrained: Uses pee-pads indoors and the bathroom outdoors. • Walking Manners: Loves sniffing around on walks. • Bathing/Brushing: Good with both • Separation Anxiety: None. • Barks/Howls: Quiet • Car Rides: Good with car rides. • Appetite/Food Allergies: No food allergies found so far • Likes/Dislikes: Loves belly rubs the most! • Shedding level (1~10): 6-7 • Health: Ellong is suspected to have grade 1.5 patellar luxation. Maintaining a healthy weight and engaging in regular exercise are recommended to help preserve her current condition. Otherwise, she is a healthy, happy pup ready for her forever family! 💙 Adoption Fee Information The adoption fee already includes all major expenses, such as: International transportation, Customs and export documentation, Medical care (spay surgery, vaccinations, health certificate, deworming, etc.) For this reason, we kindly ask that you refrain from requesting a breakdown or negotiation of the adoption fee. Your support directly helps us continue rescuing and caring for dogs in need, and we sincerely appreciate your understanding.
