Story
My name is Danny and I’m looking for my forever home. I’m one year old and came to my foster home here in St. Louis from a commercial breeding facility where I was born. Foster mom calls me a goof-ball. I love running around and tossing my toys in the air. Toys are my jam. I love chew toys and Kongs with yummy stuff frozen inside for me to lick. I love de-stuffing stuffed animals and even stealing socks. I like to hang out with my toys in the evenings, but if I’m left on my own for too long, I make my own fun doing something I shouldn’t, like shredding a dog bed. Another thing I love is going for walks. I’m very curious, which sometimes outweighs my shyness and fear of all of the people and sounds. I love meeting other dogs and taking my sweet-ol’ time to do my business. Loud noises like big trucks and school buses still spook me, but I’m getting used to meeting new people - I used to get so scared, Once I get to know you and trust you, I love attention and petting. I’ll give you kisses and if you stop petting me, I’ll poke you with my paw. Foster mom says I am smart. I’m getting the hang of potty training and I know commands like Paw, High-Five, and Wait. My perfect forever home would have patient people who will spend time with me and offer gentle reassurance as I adapt to a new environment. Experience with Shibas or shy/fearful dogs would be great. Small kids are probably not a great match, since they can be loud and unpredictable. I haven’t met any cats, but I chase birds and squirrels, so they might not be the best match for me. I live in a busy apartment complex now and foster mom thinks that I’d thrive in a quieter setting with a securely fenced yard. I’m good with other dogs and I’d love so much to have another dog-friend to play with help show me the ropes. I’m a healthy boy – neutered, vaccinated, and weighing around 30 lbs. If you live in the Midwest and are interested in a sweet, shy, goofy boy like me, visit www.savingshibas.com/adopt to apply to become an approved SIRA adopter. Applying helps SIRA learn more about you and your home so they can make sure we'll be a good match. Once approved, they'll introduce you to my foster mom so we can meet!
