Story
Milo was obtained from Cedar Ridge Shibas as a pup in 2022. He is turning 4 on 15Mar26. Milo loves to laze around but also loves to walk outside in nice weather. A fenced yard would be nice to have but not required as Milo has lived in an apartment most of his life with just a balcony. A household with no other pets would be preferred as Milo likes to resource guard. Milo is very playful and will play tug-o-war for hours if allowed. Milo is very timid and is afraid of all inanimate objects like cardboard boxes and plastic bags

Story
My name is Foxy and I’m looking for my forever home. I used to have a home and special person, but she got very sick and had to move to a care facility. I was so scared, but SIRA brought me to my foster home here near St. Louis and promised me that it would be okay. I’m 10 y.o.- a gentle, easy-going, mellow girl with a playful side. I’m good in the house when my foster family is away. I don’t need to be crated and I don’t get into any trouble or have accidents. I get very excited when foster mom comes home and will give her my very best smile and wiggle-butt dance. I get the zoomies and love to play chase. I will grab a toy – or steal one of foster mom’s socks – and take it to my bed. I don’t chew the socks, but I do like to lick them. I also love pets and belly scratches. I’m learning new things here, like how to walk on a leash. My foster home doesn’t have a fenced yard, so I’ve had lots of practice. Wearing a harness and being attached to a human when I potty was weird at first. Sometimes I get spooked by a truck or a noise and it will take me a while to go potty. But foster mom says I’m doing great. I’m a healthy girl – spayed and vaccinated. There aren’t other dogs in my foster home, but I like seeing other dogs outside. There are cats here and I like them. Some like me and some are scared. If they run, I will chase – but only because I only want to play. I haven’t met any small kids so far here, but I’m a very gentle girl, so foster mom thinks I’d probably be okay with kids. I love routine and schedules – I will stare at the fridge if I don’t get my cheese cube after going potty. I’m shy at first, but once I know you, I’ll be a loving and loyal friend. It would be great if my foster home had a fenced yard, but it’s not required. All I need is a special human to love, a soft place to snooze, and a regular supply of cheese cubes! If you live in the Midwest and are interested in me, visit www.savingshibas.com/adopt to apply to become an approved SIRA adopter. Once approved, SIRA will introduce you to my foster mom, so we can meet!

Story
&#239&#187&#191 Please read up on his breed before considering adopting.  This cutie is a four-year-old Shiba Inu.  He was a breeder release when Needy Paws received him last year.  He is small even for a shiba at 19 lbs.   He is leashed trained and housebroke but is used to a doggie door.    He needs to be an only dog as he can be a bully.  He’s okay in a neutral environment for the most part with other dogs but becomes a resource guarder in a home environment.  He needs a secure fenced in yard as he is a flight risk and likes to lay in the sun out in the yard.  He is good with humans and is not a resource guarded with his toys or food with humans.   He loves to play fetch with his toys and loves squeaky toys, although he might tear them up. He does love attention and likes to lay next to you or in your lap.   He is pretty quiet in a home environment and would make a sweet affectionate companion.  Complete the  Adoption Application  on our website at  www.NeedyPaws.org  and we will contact you.  Adopters must live within an hour’s drive of St. Louis, MO. Kudsu’s adoption fee is $295.00, which includes up-to-date vaccinations, heartworm testing and preventative, spay/neuter and microchip. We are a 100% foster-based rescue and all of our dogs live in approved foster homes. We are dedicated to finding the best Forever Homes, and will perform home visits and conduct veterinarian and reference checks for each potential adopter. Story
My name is Paddington and I’m looking for my forever home! I’m one year old (as of April 19) and I am 25 lbs of high-octane LOVE! I came to my foster home here in Jonesburg, MO, as a baby from a commercial breeding facility. I apparently didn’t get the memo that Shibas are reserved and shy. Nope. Not me! I’m a big, friendly, exuberant boy! I think everyone is my best friend and must want to play with me. And when I play, I play hard! Because I’m a bit rough for some dogs, foster mom keeps an eye on me. There are cats who live here and when I was younger, I chased them. I didn’t mean any harm, but they ran when I tried to play. Foster mom thinks I’d be okay with a really dog-savvy cat, but I’m probably a bit much for most cats and small pets. I haven’t met any human kids, but I bet I’d like them. If they’re really little, I might knock them over accidentally since I like to jump up on people for attention. Okay - I do wind down eventually, and once I do, I love to snuggle and get all of the affection you have to give. My perfect forever home will be an active one with another young, energetic dog for me to play with and people to take me on walks and adventures. Senior pups likely aren’t a good match for me – I’d drive them bonkers! I am a smart boy who is learning big-boy manners, like not pulling too hard on leash. Foster mom says I’m doing pretty well. I’m a good boy when foster mom leaves the house. I am house trained and stay in my kennel to make sure I don’t get into anything I shouldn’t. I’m a healthy boy – neutered and vaccinated. The puppy mill where I was born suspected I had a heart murmur. But SIRA’s vet checked me out from head to toe and found absolutely nothing! They kept an eye on my hips too because they were aligned funny when I was little, but now that I’ve grown up big and strong, the vet says there are no issues! If you live in the Midwest and need more fun and play in your life, visit www.savingshibas.com/adopt to apply to become an approved SIRA adopter. The application process helps SIRA make sure we’ll be a good match. Once approved, they’ll introduce you to my foster mom so we can meet!!

Story
My name is Tina and I’m looking for my forever home! I’m 7 y.o. and tiny, just 14 lbs. I may be small, but my personality is large and IN CHARGE! When I first came to my foster home in Jonesburg, MO, I didn’t know what to think. I’d spent my life at a commercial breeding facility where people were not nice. I was terrified, so I decided to act fierce any time foster mom or dad came near. But they were so nice and patient! They gave me space. One morning, as foster mom let me out to go potty, it dawned on me– WAIT, I feel SAFE! I stopped, turned around, and ran right to my foster mom. I gave her my best airplane ears and jumped up on her legs to tell her that I was ready for some love! So, I don’t act fierce anymore. My goofy self shines! I’m a good girl - potty trained and I keep myself busy with toys when foster mom is out. I love toys! Especially removing squeakers. And I love attention. Every time foster mom lets me outside, I first have to get some loving. There are lots of dogs in my foster home, and foster mom says I come on too strong sometimes and don’t get the hint when another dog is done playing. Okay. Fair enough. And there’s one dog named Dixie that I do NOT trust. I think I saw her give me the stink-eye once, so I tell her off any chance I get. Foster mom says Dixie is sweet and would never hurt me. But I’m not sold. So I guess I'm “dog selective.” Whatever. Foster mom says I'd do best as the only dog in my forever home. There are cats here too and I don’t bug them so, see? I’m a nice girl! I am healthy too – spayed and vaccinated. My forever home should be adults-only. I haven’t met any kids, but I'm pretty sure that they’d scare me and act fierce again. I’d love a securely fenced yard to run in. My family should be careful around open doors because Shibas are escape artists. I’m still learning about leash walks. I’ve practiced in the yard and could be a pro in no time. If you live in the Midwest and would like a sweet, goofy, girl with a BIG personality, here I am! Visit www.savingshibas.com/adopt. The application process helps SIRA learn about you and your home environment to make sure we’ll be a good match. Once approved, SIRA will introduce you to my foster mom so we can meet!

Story
My name is Jewel, and I’m looking for my forever home. I’m a beautiful 6-y.o. I came to SIRA after the commercial breeding facility where I lived closed. I’m glad that hard life is behind me. When I first came to my foster home here in Jonesburg, MO, I was so scared! I had never been outside of the breeding facility. My biggest comfort is the other dogs here. They help me feel safe. Foster mom says I’m a very good girl – a perfect little Jewel! I never make any noise or trouble. There are cats here and I never bother them. When my foster family goes out, I’m fine on my own. Honestly, I prefer when the humans aren’t around. You see, the people where I used to live were not nice it’s hard for me to trust. But I do like it here. There is a big fenced yard where I play with the other dogs. I’ve started to chase them and when the humans aren’t looking, I’ll relax and act silly. I’m a healthy girl – 28 lbs, spayed and vaccinated. During my spay surgery, I had a bad reaction to the anesthesia and the vet recommends no future anesthesia if possible. My perfect forever home will need to be patient and understanding, because I may never be an affectionate or trusting dog. I’m truly happy when I’m with other dogs. I’ll need at least one nice dog to be my friend and help me feel safe. I’ll need a securely fenced yard too. Foster mom has tried and tried to get me to walk on a leash and I just freeze. A quiet adults-only home (no shared walls) will be best for me. No children – they scare me too much. Experience with shy/fearful dogs will help, and my forever family will need to guard against escapes and door bolting. If you live in the Midwest and can give me a place where I can relax and feel safe, visit www.savingshibas.com/adopt to become an approved SIRA adopter. The application process helps SIRA learn about you and your home so they can make sure we’ll be a good match. Once approved, they’ll introduce you to my foster mom so we can meet!
