Story
Meet Kitsu (Kit) If you've ever dreamed of sharing your life with a little fox, you'll need to meet Kit, a 5 year old male Shiba Inu who comes in at only 16 lbs. Kit spent the first part of his life with a commercial breeder, so the world is still full of new experiences for him. Because of his past, he will need a patient, understanding family that will let him learn at his own pace. A big perk would be joining a home with a confident and kind resident dog. Kit is also an excellent copy cat! Trust doesn't happen overnight, but every small step he takes is a huge victory, and what better way to keep learning than from another furry pal. Kit is a gentle soul with the cutest fox-like face and a heart that's ready to discover what it means to be loved. He may be shy at first, but with kindness, consistency, and lots of encouragement, he will continue to blossom into the dog he’s meant to be. Kit is kid approved, but because he’s a bit skittish yet, it’s probably best to not have wild toddlers in the home to scare him. Kit is already crate trained and potty trained. Kit is still unsure about car rides but has recently learned to enjoy neighborhood walks on a leash. He will need continued basic dog training and time to build extra confidence in these areas but these tricks all come in time. We can tell Kit is a smart boy who is ready to continue enjoying this newfound freedom. He will require a secure fully fenced in yard.  If you're ready to open your heart and home to a truly rewarding experience, apply for Kit! He is neutered, fully vetted and vaccinated, had a dental cleaning with teeth pulled, and is on heartworm prevention. His adoption donation is $400. Please apply on our website directly in the dropdown menu at: https://havenanimalrescuenebraska.org PLEASE SUBMIT AN APPLICATION AT: https://havenanimalrescuenebraska.org/adoption-application We do not have a facility. All of our animals are in volunteer foster homes. Once an application is pre-approved (contingent upon a home check) we will contact applicants that are a good match and set up a time for a meet. At that time we are happy to answer all of your questions. No inquiries prior to that please. All of our animals are spayed/neutered, examined by a vet, up-to-date on vaccinations, on heartworm and flea/tick preventatives, and microchipped. We adopt our animals as strictly inside companion pets. We will do a veterinarian reference check and a home safety check. We are located in Omaha, NE and we do not ship our animals. We are all volunteers so please be patient with us. Our requested adoption fees help go towards medical expenses, food, transportation, toys, and other supplies for our animals. We are a state licensed, 501c3 nonprofit rescue and the adoption donation may be tax deductible for you.  Thank you for choosing adoption!! August 28, 2026, 9:19 am

Story
Sylvie Shiba Inu-Siberian husky mix Spayed female 3 years old, 39 lbs. Sylvie is a mix of breeds (Shiba Inu, Siberian husky and possibly German shepherd), but we can speak with more confidence regarding her sweet temperament and sharp mind. She is house trained, knows basic commands and thrives on spending time with her people.   Sylvie enjoys relaxing and exploring in the yard and appreciates a balance of activity and downtime. At just 39 pounds, she walks well on a leash and is eager to continue learning with people who will provide consistency and positive reinforcement to grow her confidence when encountering other animals. She has lived with other dogs before, but would probably do best in a home without cats and small children. Sylvie is a bright, affectionate dog and forms strong bonds with those she trusts. While she generally enjoys her walks, she can become overstimulated by bicycles, motorcycles, squirrels and rabbits, and will benefit from an adopter who will help her practice leash manners. With patience, structure and love, Sylvie will make a loyal and devoted companion. Sylvie is looking for a forever home where she can flourish and share her affectionate nature. If you're seeking a smart, loving companion that enjoys time outdoors and values being part of the family, Sylvie may be the perfect addition to your home.   Adoption form available at: nebraskanokill.org Suggested adoption donation: $300.00    August 18, 2026, 2:24 pm
