Sophie and Ashlynn are a bonded pair of adorable, senior Shih Tzus who are ready to fill your home with quiet loyalty, gentle affection, and plenty of snuggle time.  Sophie is a quiet little lady who prefers to stay close by your side. She isn't a big cuddler, but she will loyally follow you from room to room and nap nearby on a pillow while you relax or watch tv. She is very inquisitive and has a little anxiety which keeps her moving around, especially when her foster mom is out of sight. Due to her anxiety, Sophie does take a daily medication to manage it. Additionally, she does have some allergies and takes benadryl for that. Ashlynn (or Ashie for short) is the cuddlebug of the pair. She loves being held like a baby or snuggled up in your lap - maybe even on your pillow at night! She's a deep sleeper and loves a good nap, especially if it's near her favorite person. Like Sophie, Ashlynn would like to be wherever you are and wants to be the center of your world. Ashie is a bit more of a diva; while she gets along with other dogs, she doesn't like when they get in her face or between her and her cuddle time with their foster mom.  Both girls currently live with other dogs, but their hearts truly belong to their human. They will require a home with a fenced in yard and have not yet been cat tested. They're content lounging around together, following you throughout the house, or enjoying a quiet evening by your side. They are both potty pad trained and are used to having free roam of the house. If you have a calm, loving home and are ready for two devoted little shadows, Sophie and Ashie are the perfect pair!  Sophie and Ashlynn's adoption fee is $350 and includes their spay, microchip, current vaccinations and preventatives. They are seeking an indoor only home with adopters who have a history of keeping their pets as indoor animals, altered, and current on annual vaccinations and preventatives. Our adoption process includes a background check, home visit, and vet history check. Story
Meet Dusty, a handsome 9-year-old Shih Tzu who weighs 14 pounds and is ready to find a new family to love. Dusty came into rescue as a local owner surrender. His owner had him since he was just a puppy and cared for him throughout his life, but unfortunately, wasn't able to care for him any longer. Dusty has been well cared for his entire life, and it shows. At 9 years old, Dusty has moved past the puppy nonsense and has settled nicely into his favorite role: being with his people. He is happiest when he can be close to the humans he loves and included in whatever is happening around the house. Dusty does well with other dogs and is used to living with another dog, so having a canine companion is perfectly fine with him. But if Dusty had to choose his favorite thing in the world, it would be his people. He loves going for walks and is always happy to get out and explore with his people. Dusty is doing well at housetraining but needs to be watched and taken outside often. At his foster home, he is never kenneled. He is free to roam the house and enjoys the freedom to settle wherever he is most comfortable. He has proven to be a very easygoing little guy who simply enjoys being part of the household. If you're looking for a gentle companion who simply wants to be loved and included, Dusty might be your guy. Dusty is neutered, up to date on vaccinations, heartworm tested, and microchipped. If you'd like to meet Dusty, please fill out an adoption application at www.furfunrescue.org. If you have questions about Dusty you can email rox@furfunrescue.org or call 319-929-6657. Adopters must live within a two-hour radius of Cedar Rapids, IA. Indoor homes only. Adoption Fee: $400

Story
Marshall is a sweet, gentle boy with a calm and easygoing personality. This affectionate guy enjoys spending time with his people and is just as happy settling in for some quiet cuddles as he is heading out for a walk. He has a wonderful balance of playful energy and laid-back charm that makes him an easy dog to enjoy. Marshall came to AWF after his previous family began having trouble with marking inside the home and did not have the time needed to work through the behavior. This is something his new family should be prepared to continue addressing with patience, consistency, and a good routine. He is crate trained, keeps his kennel clean, knows how to sit, and walks on a leash, giving him a solid foundation to build on. Marshall is dog selective and also resource guards his food, so he will need thoughtful introductions with other dogs and a family that understands the importance of giving him space during meals. He has done well with children ages 7 and up and would be a great fit for a first-time owner who is willing to provide structure and continue working on his training. Once he trusts you, Marshall is a loving companion who enjoys being close to his people. He would happily curl up in your lap and spend some quiet time together after a walk. With his soft, fluffy ears, silky coat, and sweet personality, Marshall is ready for a family willing to give him the consistency and patience he needs to succeed.
