Story
Cooper is a Shih Tzu/Yorkie mix, born in 2022.  He’s looking for a new home with his canine brother, Bear (Havanese, born in 2023).  Their perfect home would be with older kids (age 6+) and with people that can give them love and then attention they deserve. Cooper’s SKILLS Leash trained and loves walks Crate trained Knows some commands House trained and will benefit from a refresher in his new environment Cooper’s PERSONALITY Sweet and calm most of the time Vocal at times – will let you know if there is another dog around or someone comes to the door Loves human companionship Protective of Bear and might growl at a passing dog Not comfortable around younger kids FAVORITE Things Cuddles, but also enjoys laying on blankets, the couch or bed (anything soft!) Loves to play with Bear Likes to be around people, but is not needy – he’s just happy knowing his people are nearby   The suggested adoption donation for both Cooper & Bear is $600, which includes a lifetime of free relationship-based training for any behavioral problems (not obedience training). Muddy Paws is a 501c3 non-profit organization meaning that part of your donation MAY be TAX DEDUCTIBLE. We are a 100% volunteer rescue committed to giving animals a second chance at life. All donations go toward that mission. Adoption fees are the primary source of funding for the cost of veterinary care for our animals. In 2022 alone, we provided animal Healthcare totaling over $399,000 covered mainly through adoption fees.  Information about the adoption process: All adoptions require a completed ADOPTION APPLICATION. Once your application has completed our prescreen steps, we will put you in touch with the animal’s foster to see if you and the pet are a good match. If so, we will arrange a meeting for you and the animal. The adoptions for all of our animals will take place in the Omaha, NE area and must be done by the adoptive family in person. We do not ship or deliver. Please Note: We are a RESCUE, which is different from a shelter. We conduct veterinary and personal reference checks, and a Home Visit (Virtual in some cases) during the application approval process. We always select the right applicant for each animal, based on the animal’s needs. If you and the animal are not a good match, we will help you select another animal, or we will keep your approved application on file for 6 months. To learn about Muddy Paws Last Chance Rescue or donate to our animals, please visit our website at MuddyPawsSecondChanceRescue.com or our Facebook Page Muddy Paws Second Chance Rescue Inc.  Please Note: A Courtesy Post designates that an animal is still in the home of its owner and not in a Muddy Paws foster. This means that our exposure to the animal is limited since we only assist the owner in finding a new home for their pet. From time to time, owners find a new furever home for their pets outside of Muddy Paws Last Chance Rescue, and there is a delay in removing them from our site. We apologize if the Courtesy Post you apply to adopt is unavailable for adoption. ##2717066##

Story
Charlie is a senior Shih Tzu/Yorkie mix, born in 2011.  He needs a new home only because his owner has health issues and it's difficult to care for Charlie.  He's looking for someone who will be home most of the time and not leave him for long hours to be kenneled.  Charlie is not on any medications and has no health issues at this time.  He doesn't see or hear as well anymore, but he is otherwise healthy. - The PERFECT Home -   Someone who is home most of the time Prefers a quiet environment Okay with visitors, but enjoys the peace and quiet again when they leave A female and perhaps an older woman (we're not discriminating - that's just what he's used to) Needs regular potty breaks (has started going outside more frequently) Regular grooming - TRAINING - Leash trained House trained - will let you know when he needs to go out usually by barking or whining He is used to going out the back door to do his 'business' and then enjoys the fresh air Crate trained - sleeps there at night and when his person leaves the house, he might even go in middle of the day for a nap Knows a few words - outside, bedtime, mailman, go for a ride - PERSONALITY - Friendly with strangers, maybe a little shy at first Usually calm Enjoys napping Enjoys spending time outside when it's nice (just put a blanket on the patio for him) We're not sure how he would do around other dogs, cats or young kids, but he's been okay with family and friends coming into his house.  He's curious about who is coming in, but we hold his leash as a precaution when people are at the front door. Help us find a Charlie his next senior living home!  Apply today if you would like to meet him. The suggested adoption donation for Charlie is $250, which includes a lifetime of free relationship-based training for any behavioral problems (not obedience training).  Muddy Paws is a 501c3 non-profit organization meaning that part of your donation MAY be TAX DEDUCTIBLE. Story
You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website.Looking for double the love and double the companionship? Sophie and Ashlynn are a bonded pair of adorable, senior Shih Tzus who are ready to fill your home with quiet loyalty, gentle affection, and plenty of snuggle time.  Sophie is a quiet little lady who prefers to stay close by your side. She isn't a big cuddler, but she will loyally follow you from room to room and nap nearby on a pillow while you relax or watch tv. She is very inquisitive and has a little anxiety which keeps her moving around, especially when her foster mom is out of sight. Due to her anxiety, Sophie does take a daily medication to manage it. Additionally, she does have some allergies and takes benadryl for that. Ashlynn (or Ashie for short) is the cuddlebug of the pair. She loves being held like a baby or snuggled up in your lap - maybe even on your pillow at night! She's a deep sleeper and loves a good nap, especially if it's near her favorite person. Like Sophie, Ashlynn would like to be wherever you are and wants to be the center of your world. Ashie is a bit more of a diva; while she gets along with other dogs, she doesn't like when they get in her face or between her and her cuddle time with their foster mom.  Both girls currently live with other dogs, but their hearts truly belong to their human. They will require a home with a fenced in yard and have not yet been cat tested. They're content lounging around together, following you throughout the house, or enjoying a quiet evening by your side. They are both potty pad trained and are used to having free roam of the house. If you have a calm, loving home and are ready for two devoted little shadows, Sophie and Ashie are the perfect pair!  Sophie and Ashlynn's adoption fee is $350 and includes their spay, microchip, current vaccinations and preventatives. They are seeking an indoor only home with adopters who have a history of keeping their pets as indoor animals, altered, and current on annual vaccinations and preventatives. Our adoption process includes a background check, home visit, and vet history check. If you would like to meet Sophie and Ashie, please fill out an adoption application on our website, adopthope.orgVisit this organization's web site to see any additional information available about this pet.March 9, 2026, 11:31 am
