Meet Oreo! A Sweet Senior! Oreo is a 14-year-old Shorkie (Shih Tzu/Yorkshire Terrier mix) weighing 21 pounds, and this sweet boy is hoping his next home will be the one where he can finally settle in for good. Oreo came to Fur Fun Rescue from our friends at the Iowa City shelter after a string of changes he certainly didn't ask for. His original owner surrendered him in December 2025 because they could no longer afford to care for him. He was adopted that December but returned in January because he had a hard time settling quietly in his kennel. He found another home in February, but sadly, his owner later became homeless and could no longer keep him. Oreo has been through more changes than any dog should have to endure. At 14, he deserves a safe, comfortable home where he can relax, enjoy his people, and never have to worry about where he'll sleep next. The good news is that Oreo is a sweet little guy who gets along well with other dogs and cats. He also has a bit of a stubborn streak, so don't expect him to agree with every suggestion you make. He's 14, after all, and he's earned the right to have a few opinions! Oreo is working on getting back to a healthier weight. He gained 6 pounds at his last home, but he's already lost four pounds on his diet and has another five to go. He's making progress, and we'll help him keep moving in the right direction! Oreo is a hypoallergenic dog and will require regular grooming. He also requires a physically fenced yard to keep him safe Oreo isn't asking for anything fancy. He just needs someone willing to give an older dog a chance, a soft place to land, and the security of knowing he's home for good. A little patience for his stubborn moments wouldn't hurt, either! Let's make sure Oreo never has to wonder where he belongs again. Oreo is neutered, up to date on vaccinations, heartworm tested, and microchipped. He just had blood work done and a dental cleaning. Meet Bella. She is a 2.5 year old Shih Tzu mix that came to us when her owner could no longer keep her. She is a little shy at first, but slowly coming out of her shell. She is deaf, so she will need a patient owner that understands how to deal with a dog that can’t hear. She is said to be good with other dogs, cats, and kids. She is spayed, current on vaccines, negative for heartworm, and microchipped.

Chico is a sweet Shih Tzu boy, less than a year old, with a whole lot of heart. He's super loyal and always eager to please. Wherever you are, that's where Chico wants to be. He came from a family breeder in California and has been with us since he was little. Between life, work, and ministry, our schedule keeps us busy, and Chico deserves someone who can give him more time and attention than we can right now. To be upfront: Chico was vaccinated, but we lost the paperwork. His potty training is a work in progress, and he still uses doggy diapers. He's got the idea and just needs a little more consistency to get there. The ideal home for Chico is someone who's around often, can be patient with training, and wants a loyal little companion who'll stick by their side. ***The first step in the adoption process is to complete the application at www.emmetcountyanimalshelter.org*** This cutie patootie is Shelby! She and her stout brother (clearly not biological!) Scooby love each other and have so much fun playing together that we are looking for a new forever home that is ready and capable of welcoming them both! Scooby is about 5 years old, very outgoing and energetic. Seems to love everyone and everything but can be a bit of an escape artist (he's naughty like that!) so a fenced yard is best! But the cool thing is that Shelby adores being outside a lot so a fenced yard for her to run and play and then lounge and sunbathe would be ideal indeed! Shelby is about 15 months and a sweet super silly girl that loves people, other dogs and cats. They will be a fantastic duo for the right home. Their mom loved them very much so we are doing our best to get them a wonderful home where they can be happy, safe and loved. Both dogs are fixed, vaccinated and microchipped. This 13-pound ball of energy is ready to show everyone what a wonderful little girl she is!Pearl is off to a great start in her foster home! She’s doing wonderfully with her potty training, has excellent recall, walks well on leash with her pack, and has already mastered her “kennel-up” command. She also sleeps quietly in her kennel all night!Pearl is friendly with both male and female dogs and loves every human she meets. This energetic little girl can jump a 4½-foot fence, so a home with a secure 6-foot fence is requested to help keep her safe.Pearl is ready to find her perfect home, and we think her new family will discover just how perfect this little girl can be!
