Story
Introducing Tatum, a Shih Tzu, born appx July 2018.  Tatum is a sweet and loving boy who gets along with everyone!  He likes to play catch with a tennis ball and he LOVES food.  Tatum is looking for a loving home with his bestie, Tucker.  He is also a Shih Tzu, born 2017. They are both housebroken, crate trained and leash trained.  Tatum and Tucker get along with other dogs and cats.  They are friendly with new people they meet and kids of all ages.  Tatum will be ready for a nap on your lap after playing or exploring the back yard. The perfect home for this senior pair is with someone that will welcome into their home and give them lots of LOVE! The suggested adoption donation for both Tatum & Tucker is $550, which includes a lifetime of free relationship-based training for any behavioral problems (not obedience training).  Muddy Paws is a 501c3 non-profit organization meaning that part of your donation MAY be TAX DEDUCTIBLE. We are a 100% volunteer rescue committed to giving animals a second chance at life. All donations go toward that mission. Adoption fees are the primary source of funding for the cost of veterinary care for our animals. In 2022 alone, we provided animal Healthcare totaling over $399,000 covered mainly through adoption fees. Please Note:  A Courtesy Post designates that an animal is still in the home of its owner and not in a Muddy Paws foster. This means that our exposure to the animal is limited since we are only assisting the owner in finding a new home for their pet. From time to time, owners find a new furever home for their pets outside of Muddy Paws Second Chance Rescue and there is a delay in removing them from our site. We apologize if the Courtesy Post you apply to adopt is unavailable for adoption. Information about the adoption process:  All adoptions require a completed ADOPTION APPLICATION. Once your application has completed our prescreen steps, we will put you in touch with the animal’s foster to see if you and the pet are a good match. If so, we will arrange a meeting for you and the animal. The adoptions for all of our animals will take place in the Omaha, NE area and must be done by the adoptive family in person. We do not ship or deliver. Please Note:  We are a RESCUE, which is different from a shelter. We conduct veterinary and personal reference checks, and a Home Visit (Virtual in some cases) during the application approval process. We always select the right applicant for each animal, based on the animal’s needs. If you and the animal are not a good match, we will help you select another animal, or we will keep your approved application on file for 6 months. Story
***The first step in the adoption process is to complete the application at www.emmetcountyanimalshelter.org   Hello, My name is Fritz. I am looking for my best buddy or greatest gal pal.  I am potty trained and I will tell you when I need to go out. I am good with other fur friends, and humans but I am shy at first. However, when I open up you'll meet the goofiest goofball. I prefer to sleep in my own bed. I love the outside. Walks? Yes. Run in the yard? Yes. Play outside? Always yes. I love to be where you are. Cooking, cleaning, chores, watching tv, I want to be there too.    *DM me if you'd like to meet up.  Fritz.       (LMAO)   Notes that Fritz didn't mention in his bio.... he was abandoned by his previous owners. So please be ready to commit to his sweet fluffy face for another 15 years.  Also since joining us while waiting for his new forever family has been vaccinated and neutered.  He's cute and he knows it but we don't need any lil Fritzs!  Oh, he also has a microchip but he's really hoping he never needs to use it!  He would adore a fenced yard so he can hang out in the out and run around but if you wanted to go for walks and stuff he would be cool with that too.  His adoption fee is $300.00 If Fritz looks like someone you would want to swipe right for make sure to submit that app! January 10, 2026, 10:02 pm

Story
Meet Joey!Joey is a 2-year-old Shih Tzu mix that is around 10-15 pounds at full growth. Joey came to us as an owner surrender due to him not doing well with the children in the home. Because of this, he would do best in a home where there are no children. We were told that he has done well playing with larger dogs but with smaller dogs he may can be overwhelming to them as he has a hard time understanding that others need a break. He is not fully potty trained and would need help getting on a consistent schedule for potty training, but he has done well using papers at this time. Because he is still learning to trust, a home with a fence will be required at this time. He does have a hard time trusting people coming into his space, so he would do best in a home where there are no visitors or a home that would be comfortable kenneling him when new people come over. We are still learning more about him as he is still very unsure of his new surroundings and constant new people, that he would have to have a few meets in order for him to feel comfortable being handled. If you would like to know more information or would like to be considered for Joey, please feel free to fill out an adoption application online.

Story
You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website.Looking for double the love and double the companionship? Sophie and Ashlynn are a bonded pair of adorable, senior Shih Tzus who are ready to fill your home with quiet loyalty, gentle affection, and plenty of snuggle time.  Sophie is a quiet little lady who prefers to stay close by your side. She isn't a big cuddler, but she will loyally follow you from room to room and nap nearby on a pillow while you relax or watch tv. She is very inquisitive and has a little anxiety which keeps her moving around, especially when her foster mom is out of sight. Due to her anxiety, Sophie does take a daily medication to manage it. Additionally, she does have some allergies and takes benadryl for that. Ashlynn (or Ashie for short) is the cuddlebug of the pair. She loves being held like a baby or snuggled up in your lap - maybe even on your pillow at night! She's a deep sleeper and loves a good nap, especially if it's near her favorite person. Like Sophie, Ashlynn would like to be wherever you are and wants to be the center of your world. Ashie is a bit more of a diva; while she gets along with other dogs, she doesn't like when they get in her face or between her and her cuddle time with their foster mom.  Both girls currently live with other dogs, but their hearts truly belong to their human. They will require a home with a fenced in yard and have not yet been cat tested. They're content lounging around together, following you throughout the house, or enjoying a quiet evening by your side. They are both potty pad trained and are used to having free roam of the house. If you have a calm, loving home and are ready for two devoted little shadows, Sophie and Ashie are the perfect pair!  Sophie and Ashlynn's adoption fee is $350 and includes their spay, microchip, current vaccinations and preventatives. They are seeking an indoor only home with adopters who have a history of keeping their pets as indoor animals, altered, and current on annual vaccinations and preventatives. Our adoption process includes a background check, home visit, and vet history check. If you would like to meet Sophie and Ashie, please fill out an adoption application on our website, adopthope.orgVisit this organization's web site to see any additional information available about this pet.November 1, 2025, 1:07 pm
