Story
Gracie spent 5 years in a puppymill before coming to us. She wants so badly to trust, her little tail will wag, but she is terrified because she was not treated very kindly in the mill. She keeps her pen clean and I carry her outside to do her business and carry her back in. We tried giving her the run of the house but she spent all her time hiding under the couch. We moved her into a pen where we can bend down and pet her and she can get used to human touch means love, not hurt. Gracie is so sweet with the softest fur and cute pushed in nose. We love this girl and want the best for her. A loving, quiet, patient home where she can learn the joys of being loved. Please go to the website and fill out an application if you are interested in meeting her. www.susieqdogresq.com

Story
Hollie was born about February 16, 2005....yes 2005! and weighs about 8 pounds.    Another email begging for help from an overcrowded Southern shelter.  This time it's a tiny dog that has lived a horrible life for 19 years and then gets dumped at the shelter with her eyes matted shut. The only vet care Hollie had was in 2014 when she was taken to a vet with a 'Fetal membrane hanging from the vagina'  The Southern shelter does the very best they can and got her cleaned up and worked hard to get her out.  We know if we don't step up she will be euthanized never knowing love, happiness, and comfort.  So we agree to take her in.  Hollie has been in foster for a few weeks and is enjoying the feeling of safety and comfort.  She makes little gremlin noises when she feels like being held.  At first, she was only comfortable being held for a few minutes at a time but now she settles in her favorite human's lap for however long that human is sitting. Hollie's sight is limited to shadows and she can not hear.  Hollie can walk or should we say sashay? Hollies left front leg works at odd angles and we have to assume it was broken at one point in her life and healed as is. Her eyes require several drops a day but they no longer cause her pain.  So that's the story of Hollie.  She will stay in her foster home as a hospice case but at least we can sleep easier knowing this almost 20-year-old dog will have known peace and love before she crosses the bridge.   The Adoption Fee for this dog is N/A Adoptions fees vary based on adoptability. Story
Hi! I'm Mask! Intake type: Seized DOB: 10/24/23 I bet you're wondering how a handsome dude like me wound up in the shelter? Well, unfortunately the living conditions in my previous home were not the greatest. My home was no longer considered safe to live in, and I was removed for my own safety. That's all in the past now, and I'm ready to find my new forever home! I love spending time with my people, it brings me so much joy! I enjoy getting pets and attention from my people and would love to find a home that will love me just as much as I'll love you! My shelter family says I am in need of a very special home. You see, there were several other dogs in my previous home, and my previous owner stated that many of us had to be kept in separate rooms as we did not all get along. It is believed that I may have had a not-so-pleasant encounter with another one of the pups in the home at some point, resulting in me becoming reactive towards other dogs. That's why my shelter family is requiring that I go to a home without any other dogs. I also lived with kitties, so I may be open to sharing my new home with a feline friend as well. My shelter family thinks I'd likely do well with kiddos, but of course a meet and greet will be required if you have children in the home to be sure we can be the best of friends! It would be fantastic if my new home also had a fenced in yard where I could feel safe and secure when going out to do my business or when I just want to hang outside and spend sometime with my family soaking up the sunshine. My shelter family says I would really benefit from working with a trainer for my reactivity towards other pups as well as just incase I ever need to be in close proximity to another pup like at the vet office or while out on a walk! So, what do you think? Do you think your home may be a good fit for me? Submit an application today! https://www.hornellanimalshelter.org/Adoptionprocessandfees
