Story
Summer Breeze...makes me feel fine...blowing through the jasmine in my miiiiinnnd My foster mumsie sings that to me because she says I remind her of that song ....I'm like a warm Summer Breeze coming to bring you out of your winter woes. I make friends with all the dogs big and small, I like cats,I love kids, and I am gentle, wiggle butt of happiness all the time. My foster mumsie says another big bonus is that I'm like a shihtzu for someone on a budget... I have the cute squishy face and none of that long hair that has to be continuously groomed. Win-win! Summer is a wonderful little Shihtzu mix of some such. She is approx a year old and 14lbs grown. She is extremely easy, happy, and affectionate. She gets along with all of my dogs and fosters ,my cats, and the neighbor kids love her. They are at my door daily to see if she can come out and play. Summer recalls like a dream and doesn't run off if not on leash, but she also has great leash skills now. She is kennel trained and sleeps overnight in her kennel. She loves toys and to play, starting to learn fetch with little smaller 's. She is very gentle and would be perfect for a family even with small children. She is still working on her potty training, but is learning fast. She is maybe medium energy. While she does love to play and bounce around she also can just sit on your lap while watching a movie. Local adoption fee is $200 (in TX) Out of state adoption fee is $400 (includes transport to your area - $50 Temporary Fuel Charge will be added)

Story
Bunnie is a 2 year old pure bred shih tzu who was a breeder release. She has come a long way from when she first got to her foster home.  She used to pancake to the floor in fear and hide in a corner to feel safe.  She now runs around the backyard and in the house, loves to cuddle on the couch and has to be with her person.  Her favorite time of the day is breakfast and dinner - she gets so excited to eat and will stand on her hind legs.  She is crate trained and housebroken and has learned to walk on a leash.  Bunnie is still unsure of her two shih tzu foster sisters and doesn't know how to play with them, but she has started to lay with them.  She also has no interest in toys but we are working on that.  Bunnie will be ready to be adopted at the end of April.  If you are interested in meeting Bunnie, fill out an application today! NY AG/MKTS RR 363Bunnie is being fostered in BuffaloBunnie's adoption donation is $600

Story
Thank You DelleBovi Family! Flynn was born about October 4, 2014 and weighs about 22 lbs.  He is as cute as they come and was released from his puppy making days in a puppy mill in West Virginia.  The 'millers' made a call to the humane society and said they no longer needed the services of 29 dogs and would they take them.  The shelter is a kill shelter due to space and could not handle so many dogs and so they asked if we would take them.  How could we not!  So, we squeezed and adjusted and were able to take them all.  Sadly, Flynn has failed two adoptions as after a decent length of time they still could not touch him nor would he stay in the same room as them.  He is wonderful with the other dogs here and is now considered a Joyful Rescues Sanctuary pet.  He can seldom be touched and if he is it is not for long and when we must 'catch' him to be groomed we must use a towel to protect our hands because he will bite.  He does happily live inside the house with the humans who live and work here as long as they are not forcing themselves on him, which we do not unless absolutely necessary such as hair trimming.  It is felt Flynn is living his best life right where he is and is a very happy boy.  From Dr. Rasnake: There is mild pegmentary keratitis which is likely from hair rubbing on the surface of the eye.  This condition may be the result of improper hygiene/grooming.  His future family will need to be diligent to keep hair cut short around his eyes so this does not worsen.  He still can see, but there is some cloudiness.  Joyful Rescues has no funding except for our adoption fees and miscellaneous donations. Pet care and vet bills are expensive - you must be ready to take on this financial (as well as emotional) responsibility.   Can't Adopt Me?  SPONSOR ME Look for the Link 'Special Instructions to Seller' if you want to note a particular pet Before you seek to adopt a pet from Joyful Rescues, please read our Pet Adoption page http://www.joyfulrescues.org/pet_adoption.html. Chief was born around September 22, 2011 and weighs about 8 pounds.  Chief is with us because his human passed away unexpectedly at a very young age. You will have some potty training work to do but he has the basics down he just needs routine.  Chief received a much-needed dental on arrival and he has some age-related arthritis that would benefit from a Rimadyl type product from your vet.  He's rather active for a 13-year-old pup and gets around wonderfully!  Chief would like his next home to be his last.  A home that will cherish him for however long he has left and never let him feel heartbreak again.   The Adoption Fee for this dog is $250.00 Adoptions fees vary based on adoptability.
