AMY, age 8, shitzu.  This little gal is well-mannered in the house, smiley and playful with other dogs ; we don't know about cats and we do not recommend kids. Amy is good on a leash, easy going and low key but she does need an adopter who can manage her separation anxiety and some health issues. Amy's trachea is deformed which causes a condition known as collapsing trachea. As a result she snores loudly, and needs to be walked on a harness (tightly fastened) not a collar and leash. This does not affect her quality of life and she has lived with this for many years. Amy has bonded with both of her foster parents but prefers the company of her foster Dad. She will follow you around but does not like to be held, so she is not a lap dog. Her foster writes, "Amy loves to be near her person or at least be able to see them. She does suffer from separation anxiety and will bark if she can’t see you. She doesn’t like to be alone. She is very vocal when it comes to food and demands to eat whatever you are eating so we are working on changing this!" Amy loves other dogs and would do best with at least one other dog, male or female, in the home. Her foster says, " She is quite laid back but enjoys going for daily walks. She is not overly affectionate and doesn’t like to be held much. But she will follow you around like a shadow and will lay near you at all times. Mosey has been in our family for just over 5 wonderful years. She was purchased from a purebred breeder in Little River, SC. For the first 3 years of Mosey’s life, she was our “only child”. We spoiled her beyond belief and brought her everywhere we could. She was so kind and loving, and like most Shih Tzu’s, she just wanted to sit on or near your lap and relax whenever possible. Nearly three years ago, we welcomed our first child into our home and now have a second who is just over 7 months. Unfortunately, our attention can no longer be as focused on Mosey as anyone would like (herself included). She has regrettably not taken too well to our young kids, and has snapped at them a few times. Most recently, my two year old put his head on her belly unexpectedly, and she shockingly bit him in the forehead. We love Mosey and want her to go to a great home with either older kids or no kids at all. She will love you unconditionally and just wants some attention like the old days.
