Story
Meet Pipkin! Pipkin is a 3-year-old, 15-lb Shih Tzu/Maltipoo mix with a soft white-and-tan coat and an even softer heart. He’s a happy, peppy little guy with an energetic yet submissive personality who’s always excited to be part of whatever is going on. Pipkin loves food, cuddles, playing with other dogs, running around, and being near his people. One of his foster family’s favorite things about him is the way he smiles when he greets you—his whole face lights up when he’s excited, and it’s impossible not to smile back. He does well with dogs of all sizes and enjoys their company. Loud noises aren’t his favorite, but otherwise he’s an easygoing pup who settles in nicely. Pipkin is crate trained and currently working on house training. He’s doing well but may occasionally have an accident indoors, so continued consistency and patience will help him succeed in his forever home. Pipkin walks well on a leash, is not a big barker, and doesn’t dig or chew. He would be a great match even for a first-time dog owner. Overall, Pipkin is a joyful, affectionate little companion who would fit into many types of homes. He’s ready to bring smiles, cuddles, and a whole lot of happiness to his forever family. He is neutered, microchipped and current on vaccines. Contact us today at adopt@carolinapaws.com to make Pipkin part of your family. Please note we do not accept applications outside of the greater Charlotte, NC area and immediate surrounding counties.

Story
Thank you for your interest in dog who needs a new home.  Adoption can be one of the most fulfilling experiences in your life and especially in the life of your new canine companion. A note to those looking at CPR.  We have no perfect dogs - but many of our dogs have proven to be perfect for a certain someone.  Our job is to find those someone's.  Our most successful adopters come to CPR not because they want a dog.  They come to us because they want to give a dog a home.  We urge all of our potential adopters not to fall in love with a picture.  While we like to know what you like in looks, a dog is more than a pretty face.  Our goal is to match you with the best possible pet for you and your home.  We want to create furever families.  Our descriptions contain all that we know about this dog today.  We'll update as more information is known.  Are you looking to adopt within the next 30 days?  If so please visit our webpage at www.carolinapoodlerescue.org and complete the application.  You'll find it in the menu on the left hand side.  You'll also find a total listing of all our dogs available.  Just browsing but interested in poodles and poodle mixes?  Please drop a note to applications@carolinapoodlerescue.org with your name, address and phone # and email.  We'll add you to our mailing list. thanks the CPR Adoption team   Date into Rescue: 01/28/2026 Reason for being in rescue: Dexter was abandoned at a shelter in New Mexico. Carolina Poodle Rescue pulled him from the shelter. Foster location: Dreamweaver Farms, Pacolet SC Special Needs? Dexter is neutered, up to date on vaccines and heartworm negative. On 02/05/2026 he had a dental with extractions. We have no history on Dexter pre-rescue. He is a fluffy, mixed breed dog. Only a DNA test will confirm his true heritage. We cannot guarantee that he is hypoallergenic or that he won't shed. Weight: 10.50 lbs Height: 12 in Spayed/Neutered: Yes Adoption Fee: $399 Fence needed? No What kind of home would be best for me? Dexter is a distinguished, mature gentleman who is searching for a cozy lap and a soft bed to call his own. He truly enjoys his naps and appreciates all the comforts that come with a peaceful, loving home. He enjoys meeting new canine friends and spending time alongside them, making him a lovely companion in a multi-dog home. With a little time to settle in, Dexter will make a wonderful, easygoing companion for someone looking to share their home with a calm, loving senior who still has plenty of life left to enjoy. What is my personality like? Dexter says age is number and he's here to provide it. He is surprisingly spry and full of quiet joy. When it’s time to go outside, he lights up and happily dances his way to the door, eager to enjoy the fresh air. Dexter remains playful in his own gentle way and finds comfort in the company of other dogs. While much of pet life is familiar to him, he will still need some guidance with basic skills such as leash walking and settling into household routines as he adjusts to a new environment.  Affectionate and sweet, Dexter enjoys being close to his people but also values his independence. He’s not demanding of constant attention and is perfectly content relaxing nearby, soaking up love when it’s offered. How do I act when I first meet new people? Dexter love meeting new people, but really, he is drawn to his doggy friends more so. Offer him a good soft bed and a buddy and he is all yours! Other tips and tidbits: We have no history on Dexter pre-rescue. Based on his overall health and condition he is estimated at 11 years old. We celebrate his birthday 01/28/2015. House trained? Dogs can be house trained if they are in the right environment and are allowed to follow a schedule as long as a physical reason doesn't keep them from being trained.  A dog house trained in my home may not be in yours. We will help you teach your new dog this necessary skill and based on your schedule. Please note - we do not ship dogs.  If you are interested in adopting, please take a look at the distance between the foster home location and your location and make sure you are willing to make that trip.  Most of our dogs are at our farm in Pacolet, South Carolina.   To apply, please visit our webpage at www.carolinapoodlerescue.org and visit the tab on the left that directions you to the online application. Please note that when screening applications, we look at the entire home and then make suggestions based on what would be a good fit for your home.   You are not being screened for a specific dog although we are looking to see what type of dog interests you - poodles or non poodles, color, age, etc.  Others here may be a better fit for you.  It is very difficult to get to know a living animal from a picture and a short description.  Since we are constantly getting in new dogs, this may be a  dog not in our listings yet.  We want you to be very happy with your new companion and will make suggestions based on what you tell us about you. Thank you for considering CPR. February 12, 2026, 11:23 am

Story
Meet Chance and Mister, a gentle 15-year-old bonded pair of Shih Tzu mixes who are seeking a loving home together. We will not separate them. Chance was adopted from Homeward Bound Pet Rescue 14 years ago, and he and his loyal companion Mister have been inseparable ever since. Due to their previous owner’s declining health, these sweet seniors are now looking for a new family to cherish them. Despite their age, both Chance and Mister are in good health, enjoying life’s simple pleasures and sharing their affection freely. They are loving, easygoing, and thrive on companionship—perfect for someone who can offer them a peaceful and caring environment. Chance is afraid of thunder and fireworks. If you’re ready to open your heart and home to a devoted duo, Chance and Mister would love to become your newest family members. Story
Hi, I’m Suzie.I’m a very gentle, easygoing girl who’s just looking for a calm place to land and someone to love me. I’m almost blind, but that doesn’t slow me down much. If there’s a light on, I can find my way toward it, and if not, I happily explore the world by sniffing my way around. I’m quiet, peaceful, and completely harmless.I don’t bark at all—I don’t really have a voice—but I will softly whimper when I need to go outside. I’m fully housetrained and very well-mannered. I love my crate and see it as a cozy, safe place to relax. Most of my day is spent sleeping, resting, and enjoying a calm environment.I’m friendly with everyone I meet—men, women, and children of all ages—and I don’t react to other dogs, birds, or squirrels. I’m gentle at feeding time, take treats nicely, and never tear up toys or belongings. Outside, I’m content to sit quietly and watch the world go by.I don’t have many teeth left, just a few on the bottom, so I eat mostly canned food and do very well with it. I enjoy my meals and have no trouble eating. I don’t know tricks, don’t pull on a leash, and don’t need much excitement—just patience, kindness, and love.If you’re looking for a sweet, quiet companion who asks for very little and gives gentle affection in return, I might be the perfect match for you. All I really need is a soft place to rest and someone who will love me just the way I am.My adoption fee includes up-to-date vaccinations, dewormer, and heartworm/flea prevention. Plus, a microchip that is already registered to you!
