Meet this adorable 6-month-old Shih Tzu/yorkie boy, a black-and-white sweetheart with a gentle spirit and a soft, soulful way of taking in the world. He’s a bit shy when meeting new people or exploring new places, but you can see his curiosity peek through as he quietly observes everything around him. Once he feels safe, his true personality blossoms — sweet, cuddly, and incredibly affectionate with the people he trusts. He’s not a big fan of being picked up, preferring to keep all four paws on the ground while he gets to know you at his own pace. He’s also not your typical bouncy, extroverted puppy; instead, he’s a calmer, more sensitive little guy who thrives in a relaxed environment. If you’re looking for a soft-hearted companion who gives the sweetest snuggles once he feels secure, this little Shih Tzu may be your perfect match. Since many of our adoptable dogs are in foster homes, appointments are highly recommended to ensure the animal you are interested in is currently at the shelter. Please call or e-mail the shelter to set up an appointment to meet and adopt! Our adoption fees include the following: all of our dogs/puppies are current on vaccinations (DHPP and Rabies if over 3 months of age) at the point of adoption, dewormed, heartworm tested and current on preventative, microchipped, treated for fleas/ticks and are spayed or neutered. Our large dog adoption fee is generally $175 + tax. Our small dog and puppy adoption fee is generally $275+ tax. Adoption fees may vary in special circumstances. Due to space limitations, we do not hold dogs. Because we are on a busy street, we require that all dogs leaving the shelter be in a carrier or on leash. All pets remain up for adoption until an approved application is processed and their adoption fee paid.

At 11 years old, Jackson is absolutely a senior, but he is so incredibly sweet that everyone who meets him falls in love instantly. He may not see the world anymore, but he hears just fine and follows the sound of your voice with the sweetest earnestness. Jackson is blind and has a collapsed trachea, so you’ll sometimes hear him give a little cough, especially when he’s adjusting to new surroundings. He just needs a few days to learn the layout and gain confidence in a new home—but once he does, he settles beautifully. His foster can’t say enough wonderful things about him. He’s calm, gentle, and seems to be housetrained. Best of all? Jackson LOVES to snuggle in bed at night, nestling in like he’s been your dog forever.

I came to Heartland with my siblings, Poochy and Chase. Poochy already found her happily-ever-after, so now it’s just me and Chase waiting for our turn to shine! I’m a gentle, friendly girl who adores my humans. I am shy at first, but once I realize you’re a friend, I turn into a total cuddle bug. I’m the perfect blend of sweet and spirited — ready to follow you anywhere life takes you. ✨ My Favorite Things: Car rides (shotgun partner reporting for duty!) Fill out the form by clicking on the picture of the computer screen with our logo on it. Nettie was pretty shy when she arrived at her foster home. She has gotten much braver. She gets excited and does her dance now when she knows her foster mom is going to pick her up. She does great with the other dogs and is working on her potty training. Nettie does need a fenced yard to keep her safe.  Nettie is about 8 years old and weighs about 12 pounds.
