Story
Please give a big warm welcome to MARLOWE 🐾 Marlowe is a 1-year-old, 12-pound Yorkie mix who, along with Baxter, was found roaming a side street between I-95 and Philips Hwy for several days. After seeing a second post about them days later, we took them in while making attempts to locate an owner. In the meantime, we shaved them both down due to extensive matting to help alleviate the discomfort and get them cleaned up. After a week, we started the process of getting them vetted. Although skittish and very unsure of new people, once he gets comfortable with you, he is your best friend — front and center — needing to get ALL of the lovings, attention, and FOOD (“JP” for Jealous Pig would have been an appropriate name for him). And boy, can this kid jump high to try to get whatever may be in your hands! Despite his rough start, Marlowe is learning that good things happen. Like any terrier, he has to be in control of things. If he sees another dog getting a little too wild or crazy, he feels the need to correct them — even though he himself can be a little too wild and crazy at times. Marlowe is going to need someone patient who will help him learn that the world isn’t such a scary place. When he first came in, even a football game on TV was too visually stimulating for him. Since then, we keep DOG TV on throughout the day to help with that. Training — both obedience and potty — will help him become a more confident little adventure buddy. Now the big ask: why are we not adopting them out as a bonded pair? Because they don’t have to be. And because they are both going to need a good amount of training to help them be brave and confident — and training one dog is enough for most folks. Plus, Marlowe is a jealous pig, and poor Baxter gets pushed aside. That’s just not very fair. What’s this? You’re looking for an Adventure Buddy? Guess what?? So is Marlowe!! A buddy to bond with, to love, to teach trust, and to give you a reason to seize each day. To be considered, please submit an application: https://www.shelterluv.com/embed/animal/PPFL-A-4049 Our adoption radius is 150 miles from Jacksonville, FL. Story
My dad passed away a year ago. Kelly is a super sweet little chihuahua and even at 9 years old he is full of puppy-like energy! He can sometimes be a little anxious but overall he is calm and likes being on your lap or underfoot which is why he wears a cat bell. He loves to cuddle and is quite the charmer. He has a diet of dry food daily ...1/4 c in the morning and 1/4 c in the evening and as a treat wet food on Fridays. He can be a picky eater so I wouldnt change it. He likes looking dapper so he will wear a sweater or a tie if you want to dress him. He is also not a barker overall. He will bark if someone is near the house but he settles down quickly. Kelly is not properly housetrained. My dad was very elderly and could not walk him often so Kelly got in the habit of making in the house even after a walk -he also marks so we keep a belly band on him. My daughter and I were in an accident and my husband is the only one caring for us. We just cant keep him anymore
