Butch aka Butchy aka Toby lol Butch is 4-5 years old and 16 pounds. His name is Butch, that is the name he came with however, for some reason, he really looks like a Toby to me and I always accidentally call him Toby or Toby Tobe , so now he knows both 😂 Butch’s mom had to be put in hospice care and he came to the rescue . He was an obese 20 pounds when he came here but now is down to 16.5 , 13-15 would be a good weight for him. Butch is scared of everything. He is afraid of his own shadow. He was terrified when he first got here but never aggressive. You can pick him up but he does not ask for it nor does he has for attention or bid for your love. He hides most days under a shelf on a bed we made him and he lets you pet him but he just freezes when you do, although recently when I pet him he is at-least less stiff and maybe in 2-3 more weeks he will actually pretend to enjoy it . Poor Butch had a sheltered life and was under socialized, but that was the only life he knew, so coming here he was very shut down. But recently, when we’re not watching him and we spy on him through the window, he does lay with the other dogs and kind of princes around and seems pretty relaxed. he likes to go outside, but does not really want to be out there with you. He basically acts like a feral dog, but never shows any sign of aggression and he is very much like having a cat. He will use the pee pads or go outside. He must have a fenced yard. He does not understand walking on a leash. He also does not actually run from you. He will just sit there and freeze and let you pick him up but sometimes he will nervous pee if he does not know the person picking him up .. it took him about two weeks with me to stop peeing on me, but he did, thankfully. He never barks or fusses or whines or cries. We have never heard a peep from him. He will tolerate baths and nails and ears but does not enjoy it, again he just freezes terrified. He sun bathes with his friends when it is warm. He sleeps a lot. He is a cat dog. But I do think once he is in a home and gets used to that new home with his new people, he will relax a lot, and will be a loving part of the family. It is just going to take a lot of time and patience. He has beautiful eyes and a beautiful rare chocolate Merle coat. He needs a patient and loving adopter that will just give him the time he needs to grieve, acclimate, and adjust. Gentle hands and soft voices. He is great with all other animals and he has never met kids but I think would be fine with older kids, he has zero aggression, but would be terrified of a toddler. He just needs time. I believe in him and I hope someone else out there will too. 💜

Churro is a very pretty girl, 6 years and 9.5 pounds. Churro has stranger danger, which is a shame because after 24 hours strangers are no longer strangers and after 48 hours she is basically a perfect dog. After the initial decompression time, Churro walks on leash, has good potty manners, is super loving, cuddly, enjoys being held, loves attention and is an all around wonderful companion. When she first got to the ranch she was darting around, would not allow us to pick her up or hold her, she growled, snapped, showed her teeth, when we would try to corner her to pick her up. Never tried to attack or lunge, just would run away. You can imagine our surprise when on day two she was jumping in our laps and trying to french kiss us 😂😂😂😂 it was a fast turn around . Churro is not a huge fan of change. She needs a patient , loving and steady family. Once she knows you, she walks on a leash and harness you can get her changed in several different outfits. You can kiss her face. You can take her on car rides. She is perfectly fine. It’s just that initial getting to know somebody that she has a hard time with. She is great with all other animals We will say no kids for now mostly put of caution and to cover our own butts but she came from a home with kids and she has also met two kids here and really liked them.

Emmett is approximately 2 to 3 years old and 8 1/2 pounds. He is a gorgeous charcoal color boy. Emmett was rescued from a terrible hoarding situation and it has taken him a long time to come around. He has been with us since November 2025 He is great with other dogs. He loves to play. He barks at the cats but would not hurt the cats. He still does not come to us for attention or really want us to pick him up or per him. We can corner him and pick him up without him biting, and we can bathe him do his nails give him his monthly prevention, etc. he just recently stopped running out of the room every time we entered and he does sit and wait now for his breakfast and treats and we’ll take chicken out of my hand. He follows us around and seems to start enjoying seeing us, but still is very weary of human interaction he is kind of more cat like than dog like. We are hoping in the right home that Emmett will blossom and start to enjoy human attention and interaction, but he is not there yet. He does, however really love other dogs and must have a playmate in the home. No small children. And he must have an extremely well fenced in yard. It would help if the dogs in the home are very social and friendly as he definitely mimics what other dogs are doing and is quite the little shadow . He is a work in progress, certainly a project dog, but we believe there is someone for everyone out there and Emmett is fine here at the rescue for however long it takes to find his someone :)
