Story
NOTE: At this time we are only interested in meeting with potential adopters who live within an hour or so of the Tri-Cities TN/SW VA area. Miss Stevie is a beautiful, blue-eyed, talkative Siamese mix who showed up at our house last year with her kittens. She loves snuggles and being talked to and she does know how to use a litter box. She is fixed, has her shots, and is microchipped. Now for the bad news: we wanted to introduce her to our 4 inside cats but unfortunately she is extremely territorial with other cats, especially at feeding time. She is mean to our little feral cat that we care for and any other cats that come onto our porch. Stevie is so sweet with people and deserves to find a home where she can get all the love and attention she needs. She is not kid tested but I do not think she would be good in households with small children, nor would she make a good "emotional support" animal as she needs lots of attention herself.

Story
Puppies 6 months and under are typically $200 and dogs from 7 months to 6 years are typically $100.00. The adoption fee may be higher or lower than stated however, and is dependent on many factors including age, behavior, medical condition and demand. All dogs 7 years and older are free under our Saving Seniors program. We frequently run discount specials and occasionally a dog will be more than the stated fee. Most cats and kittens are $35.00, however there may be instances in which the fee is higher or lower, due to age, behavior, medical condition or demand. With felines, we always have an "Adopt one, bring another one home for free" adoption special!

Story
Monkey is extremely shy and cautious with people, but gets along well with other cats. He does not seem to be aggressive at all and does play with toys. His foster says that he will stay in the room with her, but doesn't come to her for pets yet. He comes when food is involved, so he knows his name and will play in the room when his foster is present. Monkey would do best in a quieter home with a loving and patient person. His foster home is a busy environment with many cats. We feel that in a quieter environment, Monkey will feel safe and soon come into his own and learn to trust his person as well. DOB: 6/3/25 Monkey has had his FVRCP and rabies vaccines, and is neutered. Story
Jazmine was brought to me from a situation where she had been bred most of her life. She was so scared when she first entered our rescue. After getting her evaluated we were informed that she had absorbed her last set of kittens and was at risk for sepsis. Jazmine had a full hysterectomy with a cut from the top of her abdomen all the way down. This has not stopped her from being one of the most loving girls that is out there! She is thankful to just being able to be herself.

Story
Whopper Jr was trapped for TNVR (trap, neuter, vaccinate, release) at a Burger King parking lot where a caregiver feeds a colony of cats.  When we got him TNV'd, we discovered he was friendly so we kept him. and he no longer has to live the where-is-my-next-meal-and-will-I-freeze-to-death life of an unowned community cat.  He is shy, especially at first, so his home will need to be pretty calm with no young children or yapping dogs.  He enjoys being pet and after a couple days, he began giving me head butts.  He hasn't done that in a little bit and now that he is not in a cage, he is a little anxious about being picked up, but he has so much potential.  You can see him relax more each day.  After only 2 days loose in my home office, he cautiously approaches for pets.  Get ourt a wand toy and he is ready to play!  He really likes his roommate, Seagram; they were best friends at first sight, so he would love to stay with her or go to a home with another playful, young cat.     Meet Whopper Jr by completing our online adoption application.  All cats are spayed/neutered, current on age-appropriate vaccines, microchipped, FELV/FIV tested, dewormed and started on monthly flea preventative. All Mountain Pet Rescue (Asheville) animals are up-to-date on vaccinations, spayed/neutered and micro-chipped before adoption. Contact the foster parent or Mountain Pet Rescue at pets@mpravl.org for more information. Please note that visual breed identification of companion animals has been proven to be unreliable, so for most of our animals we provide a best guess at predominant breed or breed mix. We get to know each of our animals as an individual and do our best to describe and place pets based on personality not breed label. Mountain Pet Rescue is a 501(c)(3) non-profit tax deductible charity (EIN 82-3039637) located in Asheville, NC. May 25, 2026, 1:37 am
