Story
Hi! My name is Mr. Pixie and I am about 1 & 1/2 years old. I am a sweet boy who loves to play. You may see that I am marked as special needs, well I have a few things going on. Here is a medical note from the veterinarian: Mr. Pixie had retained testicles (cryptorchidism) . One of his testicles was removed from his abdomen; the other from outside of his body wall. He therefore has 2 incisional scars on his belly. He also has a green tattoo which indicates that he has indeed been altered. Mr. Pixie has curled pinnae (ear flaps) which is a trait specifically bred for in the Pixie Bob breed. It is a defect in the cartilage in his ears which makes keeping his ears clean an added grooming requirement. Unfortunately the defect causing the curl to his ears may also express itself in cartilage in other parts of his body (ribs, trachea, other joints).  Mr. Pixie was born with an abnormal right hip and thigh. There is no ball and socket joint for his right hip and his right thigh bone (femur) is shortened. This has resulted in his right leg being much shorter than his left. His kneecap is deviated to the outside of his knee. At this time, he does not seem to be in pain and is using his leg. Amputation was considered, but decided against because he has no tail to help him balance. (Tailessness is a breed selected trait of the Pixie Bob). His left rear leg and hip are normal. Radiographs are available for your veterinarian if requested. Because of his leg issue, it is very important that Mr. Pixie stay fit and trim. He has no exercise restrictions, but his meals need to be managed is portions and in content. An indoor cat formula food is best to help control Mr. Pixie's weight. Mr. Pixie has lived with another cat and got along well with him.  I am neutered, microchipped, and up to date on my vaccines. I am available for adoption at the Pet Pantry’s main facility, 26 Millersville Road, Lancaster. If you think I may be the purrfect match for your family please fill out an adoption application! Applications are available at our location as well as online at petpantrylc.org. From there, our adoption coordinator will be in touch! April 26, 2024, 1:26 pm
