Meet Joy – Your Future Best Friend! Joy is a sweet, spirited 1-year-old Silky terrier mix who’s ready to fill your life with love, cuddles, and happiness. Weighing just 11.5 pounds, she’s the perfect size for snuggling on the couch or joining you on daily adventures. This adorable girl has a scruffy, black and tan coat that adds to her irresistible charm. Despite a rough start in life—her previous owner moved away and left her behind—Joy’s resilient spirit shines through. Thanks to a caring neighbor, she found her way to AFC, and now she’s eager to find a loving forever home where she can truly thrive. Joy is a bundle of affection who loves everyone she meets. She leans into hugs and snuggles, soaking up love and giving it right back. Her friendly, cheerful nature makes her an excellent candidate for therapy work—she has the potential to bring comfort and joy to many. She’s a quick learner, already using the doggie door and going potty outside on command. Joy is scheduled to be spayed and has been vaccinated, microchipped, flea-treated, and dewormed—she’s all set to become a beloved member of your family. Joy needs- A home where someone is with her most of the time, as she thrives on companionship and may cry if left alone. A home without crating, since she doesn’t do well confined. Lots of love, patience, and gentle guidance as she continues to settle in and learn her new routines. If we need to look something up later and you used a different email we are often not able to find it. 2. Adopt a Pet and Petfinders ask you to send us an enquiry. This always delays our response. (Why) a. Our biographies are always very detailed. Therefore sending an enquiry asking us to repeat what it says in the biography causes a lot more work and delays our response. b. We are a small non-profit and do not always have the help to answer as many enquiries as we get. c. Again our Biographies are very detailed and if you just click the link near the bottom of their bio you can fill out an application which we will respond to. 3. For the AFC website (scroll down to the bio at the bottom it says (apply to adopt today- click that link) www.animalfriendsconnect.org 4. For Petfinders ( scroll down to the biography then click the adoption link) http://animalfriendsconnect.org/adoption-application-dogs/ 5. For Adopt a Pet (scroll way down past “Ask about me”) you will see the biography and underneath that will be the adoption questionnaire link. Story
Lucky is a darling boy who is guessed to be a shih tzu/lhasa apso type mix. He is about 17lbs and thought to be around 9yrs old, however acts much younger! Lucky was found in poor condition. He was malnourished and appeared to have been suffering from a flea allergy which caused inflamed skin and missing coat on half his body. In just a few weeks of proper care and good nutrition, he is already looking so much better. His coat will continue to grow, and we know that will make him even cuter! He can be scared/nervous when adjusting to a new environment, so his adoptive home will have to have a little patience. After a few days, he shows his sweet and happy personality. Here are notes from his fostermom: This sweet boy is looking for a calm, loving home where he can feel safe and appreciated. Lucky does best with *older children* who can respect his space—he’s a gentle soul who just needs understanding and patience. Lucky is a total sweetheart who loves to cuddle and stay close to his humans. He enjoys playing with toys and is learning how to interact with other dogs; he may bark to get their attention, but he’s making progress every day! He’s *crate trained*, *potty trained*, and will bark or gently paw at you when he needs to go outside. Lucky also knows how to use a doggy door. He absolutely loves going on walks and greeting new people along the way. Lucky would thrive in a home with another *low- to mid-energy dog* or as the *only pet*. With love and stability, this affectionate boy will make a wonderful companion. If you’re looking for a loyal, cuddly friend who just wants to be near you, Lucky might be your perfect match! Please email right away if you would like to learn more about this dog......and visit our website www.siarescuers.org to learn more about our rescue group. Adoption fees range from $350-$475 for dogs. THE DOGS SHOWN ON THE SITE ARE IN FOSTERCARE - WE DO NOT HAVE A SHELTER TO VISIT. EMAIL is the best way to reach us. We are a volunteer run, very small organization - so please be patient when waiting for a response, but feel free to check back in if you haven't heard from us in a day or so - thank you so much for considering a rescued pooch!
