Story
You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website.Meet Mabel! Mabel is a beautiful 4-year-old tan and white Shih Tzu who is a puppy mill survivor. Since coming into rescue, she has made wonderful progress and is beginning to enjoy the comforts and security of life in a loving home. Like many mill dogs, Mabel is still gaining confidence every day. She is doing well with housetraining when kept on a consistent schedule and is learning to walk on a leash. She enjoys riding in the car and especially loves spending time with her person. Watching her personality continue to blossom has been incredibly rewarding. Mabel gets along well with other dogs and must have a companion dog of similar size and energy to help her continue building confidence. She also requires a secure, physically fenced yard, as she is still learning that the world is a safe place. Because of her puppy mill background, Mabel will do best with an experienced owner who understands that patience, consistency, and positive reinforcement are the keys to helping her continue to thrive. She is looking for a family that will allow her to progress at her own pace and celebrate each new milestone along the way. Mabel would do best in a home with no children under the age of five. She also requires a strong veterinary reference. If you have another friendly small dog, a securely fenced yard, and the patience to help a deserving little girl continue her journey, Mabel may be the perfect addition to your family. Mabel's adoption donation is $550 and she is being fostered in Athens, Ohio. She has been spayed, microchipped, received her rabies, distemper/parvo, bivalent canine influenza, and Bordetella vaccines, tested negative for heartworms and started on monthly heartworm prevention, is on flea prevention, and has also had a dental cleaning.Visit this organization's web site to see any additional information available about this pet.PLEASE NOTE:   If you are viewing this biography on a website other than the Ohio Fuzzy Pawz website like Petfinder, Adopt-a-Pet, or another search engine (the OFP website is www.ohiofuzzypawz.com), not all information transfers to partner websites in some instances.  If you go to the  individual webpage of our dogs , you will be able to get more information each dog. Visual breed identification in dogs can be unreliable so, in many cases, we are only guessing at the predominant breed or breed mix.  We get to know each dog as an individual and will do our best to describe each of our dogs based on personality, not by breed label. Our Adoption Process The adoption process has several steps involved. Please review prior to submitting an application. Our adoption process is detailed here:  http://www.ohiofuzzypawz.com/info/adoption Our volunteers work very diligently to process each application and we try to ensure that we are making the best match possible for each dog.  We do not schedule meetings with dogs until an application has been approved.  It can take up to a few weeks to process an application or as little time as a few days, from the time you submit an application, please be prepared to adopt as we cannot hold dogs. Special Requirements Some dogs may have special requirements (for example, medications, a fence) -- if you apply for a dog, please be sure to read over the biography completely to see if there are any special needs and if you're home would be suitable.  If we indicate on the dog's biography that a fence is required, this means your home must have a physical fence.  Other dogs may require a "strong vet reference" which indicates that we are looking for a home that has a documented history of veterinary care with previous pets.  The first step in our process is to submit an online adoption application at www.ohiofuzzypawz.com/forms.  The application MUST include the personal references and veterinary, grooming, and landlord references (if applicable) and their respective contact information.  If you do not include the references and the contact information, your application will be delayed as it CANNOT be processed.  Once the references have been successfully completed, a home visit is then scheduled when a rescue representative can meet all members of the family or residents of the home.  No application is approved prior to the home visit being done.   At that point, the Directors will discuss any and all applications on a foster dog and make a selection--in many cases, there are multiple applications for each dog, so please be understanding that our only priority is the successful placement of each of our foster dogs. Out of State Adoptions We do adopt out of state to outstanding applicants, however, our process requires a home visit, so out of state adoptions can take longer.  We do not ship our dogs, adopters should be prepared to pick up the dog in Central Ohio.  August 16, 2026, 9:40 am

Story
You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website.Meet Esme — a precious puppy mill momma discovering the joy of being cherished Esme is a sweet puppy mill momma who is finally getting the chance to experience life at her own pace. After a past that didn’t always put her needs first, she’s now learning how wonderful warm blankets, gentle voices, and full tummies can be—and she’s doing a great job. This calm little lady has perfected the art of cozy naps and can usually be found snoozing in the warmest spot she can find. Esme loves treats (seriously, treats are her love language!) and has discovered that they pair quite nicely with gentle belly rubs. She does well settling into a crate, rides nicely in the car, and is slowly warming up to spending time outside, even joining the other dogs for short adventures and the occasional happy dash. Esme has a low energy level and enjoys a peaceful, low-key lifestyle. She does best when kept on a consistent routine, with the understanding that there will always be a transition period as she adjusts to a new home. She gets along well with other dogs and would benefit from a calm canine companion to help guide her. As a mill momma, Esme is still learning that human touch is kind and safe. Loud noises can startle her, so a quieter home with a patient, mill-dog-experienced adopter would be ideal. She is comfortable being alone for short periods, making her a good match for someone with a relaxed or part-time schedule. Given time, patience, and lots of love, this deserving momma will continue to blossom into the sweet companion she was always meant to be. If you have a gentle heart, a warm blanket, and a little extra patience, Esme is ready to meet you. Esme’s adoption donation is $475, and she is being fostered in Cleveland area. She is fully vetted and ready for her forever home — she has been spayed, microchipped, and is up to date on her vaccines, including rabies, distemper/parvo, bivalent canine influenza, and Bordetella. She has tested negative for heartworm and has been started on heartworm and flea/tick prevention, and she has also had a dental cleaningVisit this organization's web site to see any additional information available about this pet.PLEASE NOTE:   If you are viewing this biography on a website other than the Ohio Fuzzy Pawz website like Petfinder, Adopt-a-Pet, or another search engine (the OFP website is www.ohiofuzzypawz.com), not all information transfers to partner websites in some instances.  If you go to the  individual webpage of our dogs , you will be able to get more information each dog. Story
You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website.Jovie is a beautiful young girl whose sweet personality is beginning to shine brighter every single day. Like many puppy mill survivors, she is still learning that the world can be a safe, loving place — and watching her confidence grow is incredibly rewarding. This adorable little sweetheart absolutely loves toys, stuffies, chew bones, and playing with her foster dog siblings. One of Jovie’s favorite things is curling up in a cozy dog bed after a fun play session with her canine friends. While she has a lower energy level overall, she still enjoys playful bursts of fun and is starting to discover how exciting life outside the puppy mill can truly be. Jovie can be shy when meeting new people and needs a patient family willing to let her build trust at her own pace. Once she feels comfortable, her curious and gentle personality starts to emerge more and more each day. She has especially begun bonding with the women in her foster home and enjoys quietly hanging out nearby, watching the world around her. She also does wonderfully with other dogs and enjoys children, even showing curiosity and gentleness around her young foster sibling. A confident companion dog in her forever home will be very important for Jovie’s continued progress. She truly blossoms around other dogs and looks to them for comfort, confidence, and guidance. Because of this, she will require a home with another playful, friendly dog who can continue teaching her the ropes of being a cherished family member. A securely fenced yard is also required for her safety and comfort. Jovie is currently working hard on her house-training skills and is making progress with a consistent routine. She’s also beginning leash training as she learns that walks and outdoor adventures can actually be fun. Like many Shih Tzu girls, she has decided cold weather is absolutely not her favorite thing, and she would much rather stay cozy indoors when temperatures drop. Her perfect forever home will be patient, loving, and understanding — one that celebrates the little victories as Jovie continues to grow in confidence and discover just how wonderful life can be. In return, this precious girl will reward her forever family with quiet companionship, sweet affection, and the joy of watching her blossom into the dog she was always meant to be. Jovie’s adoption donation is $525. She is fully vetted including spay, microchip, dental cleaning, current vaccinations, negative heartworm test, and she is current on heartworm and flea prevention. Jovie is ready to find the forever family who will give her the love, patience, and security she deserves.Visit this organization's web site to see any additional information available about this pet.PLEASE NOTE:   If you are viewing this biography on a website other than the Ohio Fuzzy Pawz website like Petfinder, Adopt-a-Pet, or another search engine (the OFP website is www.ohiofuzzypawz.com), not all information transfers to partner websites in some instances.  If you go to the  individual webpage of our dogs , you will be able to get more information each dog.
