Story
Sweetie Pie lives up to his name.  He loves attention and appears to be crate trained.  He is one of those dogs that will run if given the chance.  So needs to be on a leash when outside or needs a secure fence.   Some of our dogs are adopted very quickly.  If you are truly interested in a dog fill out an application ASAP.  If you take the time to email a question someone will already be ahead of you with a completed application.  You can find all the information we have about a particular cat/dog at the link below as well.  Then click the adopt button to fill out an application. To be pre approved fill out an application at the link below.  You are welcome to come in anytime we are open to meet the cats and dogs.  If you are preapproved you can adopt on the same day.  We are open Monday-Saturday 1-4.  Closed on Thanksgiving and Christmas.  https://arfok.org/pages/adoption Adoption fee is $150 for all dogs over 6 months old, $200 for large breed puppies under 6 months, $250 for small breed puppies and some pure breed dogs.  All adoptions include, spay/neuter, vaccines, a heartworm test, and a free 1 year membership to our 5 acre ARF Park.  For other dog questions please email ARFdogs74006@gmail.com We do adopt out of state, but the adopter must travel to ARF to meet the dog they are looking to adopt.  They must have an approved application before traveling to meet the dog.  We do allow small dogs that are eligible to fly in the cabin of a plane.  We DO NOT allow dogs to travel in the cargo area of the plane under any circumstances.  Any dog that is adopted can of course go by personal vehicle.  We do not allow dogs to be transported "pony express style" where they are passed from driver to driver.   ##2877743##

Hi! I’m Stella, located in Virginia. Stella is a sweet 9-year-old Teddy Bear! (Bichon, Shih Tzu Mix) who weighs a perfect 10 pounds! This gentle little girl is a wonderful balance of independence and being social—she loves being right where the action is and hanging out beside her people! She is also perfectly content doing her own thing. Stella is house-trained at her foster home, walks beautifully on a leash, has an excellent appetite, and gets along wonderfully with other dogs. And, she never says no to a good nap! Because she can be a bit timid at first, she would thrive best in a home with older children who can give her just a little time to warm up and let her true, loving personality shine. Stella will require a home with a small, friendly resident dog already in place, or someone at home most of the time. Children in the home must be at least 10 years old. These requirements are not flexible, as they are essential to ensuring that Stella transitions safely, adjusts successfully, and thrives in her new environment. Is yours her furever home?!
