Hey there folks! Looking for big sass in a little package? A character with big dog attitude? Rocky here with Santa and I just told him that what I really want for Christmas is a furever home. My story: One day I was in this nice home, and then my owner couldn't take care of me any longer and I was surrendered to a local shelter. Lucky for me, Hatton Animal Rescue swooped in and rescued me. I am a good little boy, but I am a bit intimidated by other dogs, especially big ones (hence my sassiness towards them!). I will bark at the little ones too, but generally will calm down around the little ones. I think that I would prefer to be your one and only, as I love human attention once I get to know you. (I will bark at you too, until I feel comfortable around you.) Possibly, I'd settle in with another dog, but I definitely like the small ones better. I am crate trained, house trained (I use the outdoors, but also know how to use pee pads indoors if necessary) and hardly bark except when I hear a sound outside or see another dog I need to talk to! I am absolutely adorable with one blue eye and one brown. If you are looking for a cute companion, complete an application today! Meet Jim, aka Jimothy - the Shih Tzu sensation! Jim’s story didn’t start with sunshine and rainbows. He came from a home so bad he had to be seized by animal control, but this brave little guy hasn’t looked back since. Despite all the chaos and trauma he’s endured, Jim is pure hope wrapped in fluff. You can just feel that he wants to love and be loved. And love, he does! Jim arrived full of joy, ready to party and start his new life. From transport to volunteers to his foster family, everyone fell for him immediately (the rumors are true ~ Jim’s an absolute babe). He loves: - Taking walks (he has stamina and is ready to help you get your steps in!) - Exploring the yard - Making new friends - Playing with toys - Snuggling on the couch - Keeping the world safe from squirrels - Being told he's the overall best boy (because he is) Jim's got moves, he’s got heart, and he’s working on building an epic toy collection. A social butterfly who makes friends with every dog and human he meets, he would love a home with another canine sibling to pal around with. Meet Ember! This heartthrob has a goofy smile, the manners of a gentleman, and a heart of gold. This fragile soul spent WEEKS in a crowded shelter after being found wandering alone as a stray, wondering what had happened to him. He has no collar, no microchip and no one ever came looking for him. He waited, and waited. By the time we got the call, Ember had nearly given up hope and so had the shelter. Seniors like him often never get their second chance. But we said yes, and now this gentle, grateful little man is not only safe at Miri’s Haven - he's coming back to life. The second he stepped through our door, he completely lit up. Within hours, he was following his foster like a tiny flickering shadow ~ smiling, tail wagging, tongue peeking out when he woke from naps. His foster mom says he's so well-behaved and so happy to finally be included in a family. And after being stuck in the shelter, he can't get enough of being outside and exploring his surroundings. He's also winning over everyone he meets - and we mean everyone. His foster sibling, alumni Bonnie, always sleeps in bed with her parents, so they were shocked when she chose to start sleeping in Ember's bed with him instead. And honestly, we can't blame her...just look at this face! After everything he’s been through, Ember still believes people will choose him. He's so ready to finally have someone to give all of his love to - could it be you? Ember is approximately 12 years old and 16 lbs. More details to follow as we get to know him better. Story
Furby is a fun, charming, fuzzy doggo. He has been enjoying his time in a foster home, but is hoping to find a home for the holidays. He has lots of opinions. So far, here's what he's let his foster know about his likes and dislikes: Furby loves snacks (preferably delivered with reverence), gentle strolls (exercise but make it elegant), lap time (where he absorbs your secrets), scritches, and plush beds (plural… he has declared several thrones already). Furby does not enjoy snow or rain. He does not love clothes, although he does look super handsome in a preppy sweater. Furby also does not seem to love car rides (perhaps because they mostly involve the V E T); he fares best if he’s in the back seat with a human companion. Furby arrived with cataracts, glaucoma, and ulcers on his eyes. Following several weeks of unsuccessful treatment, it was determined that Furby would fare better without his peepers (which weren't doing their job anyway). He is adjusting very well and does not let his blindness stop him from anything. He walks with confidence and can handle a couple of small steps, as well as curbs. If there are multiple or steep steps, he’s happy to be carried up and down them instead. He is a great eater and a champion lap sitter. Furby gets along well with other dogs, big or small, and cats. He loves people and is very curious about the world. He enjoys plenty of grass-sniffing time and checking out every inch of the house for possible stray crumbs. He is housetrained, although if he isn’t taken out after a few polite requests, he may engage in some self-help. He does fine left home alone for reasonable periods of time and is always excited when someone comes to take him out for a potty break. Overall, he is a charming, friendly boy. Even the things he doesn’t like he will tolerate, especially if bribed with a treat or two. He has plenty to say about the world and can’t wait to share it with you.
