Story
We have a transport leaving June 25th 2026 from where we are located in Southern California to NorCal, OR, and surrounding states as needed for our adopting families where we bring our dogs all the way to their homes 💗 For peace of mind we never ask for anything up front. The adoption fee along with your share of travel costs will be due the day we arrive in person ultimately finalizing the adoption then and there with you. We would love to add Winnie to our trip for the right family 😊 Winnie is a 1½ year old Shih Tzu/Poodle mix who weighs right around 10 pounds. She is full grown, naturally petite in stature, and has those long legs that seem to carry her effortlessly wherever life takes her. Her beautiful curly Poodle coat is soft as a cloud, completely hypoallergenic, and absolutely fluffs out into a gorgeous teddy bear look after a fresh grooming appointment. Winnie’s story is one we felt deserved to be shared because we know there is someone out there who is meant to be hers. When Winnie arrived in our care, she was suffering from double ear infections. One ear, in particular, showed signs of chronic untreated infections that had likely been causing discomfort for quite some time. Since joining us, she has been under the care of our veterinarian and has been receiving an array of antibiotics and steroid treatments. We have seen tremendous improvement, and while she is not completely healed yet, she is well on her way. We are committed to continuing her treatment until she is healthy and comfortable, and we know the right family will appreciate just how resilient and deserving this little girl truly is. What makes Winnie so special isn’t just her adorable appearance. It’s her heart. She genuinely loves everyone she meets. Children, adults, strangers, friends, it simply doesn’t matter. Winnie approaches life with an open heart and a gentle spirit. She does seem to have a particular fondness for men, which isn’t something we see every day, but her affection for women is just as strong. No matter who you are, if you have a heart ready to love and be loved, Winnie will be front and center, eager to return that love tenfold. She is house trained and will patiently stand by the back door when she needs to go outside. She doesn’t fuss or demand attention. She simply waits quietly for someone to notice her. Winnie is also crate trained and currently sleeps peacefully in her crate throughout the night. Truthfully, she’s not much of a morning person and would be perfectly content sleeping in while everyone else starts their day. If you enjoy slow mornings, coffee in hand, and a relaxed start to the day, Winnie will fit right in. She is leash trained and thoroughly enjoys her walks. Whether you’re strolling through the neighborhood or exploring somewhere new, she’s simply happy to be by your side. Winnie is the definition of a lap dog. If there’s an available lap, she would like to claim it. If you happen to stand up for a moment, don’t be surprised to find Winnie keeping your seat warm until you return. She loves being held, snuggled, and included in whatever her people are doing. She is wonderful at the groomer and genuinely enjoys being pampered. Spa days are among her favorite activities. She also rides beautifully in the car and is happy to accompany her family on adventures both big and small. Whether it’s a quick trip to the store or a long road trip, Winnie is simply grateful to be included. Perhaps one of the things we love most about Winnie is her temperament. She is not a barker. In fact, she is one of the calmest, most serene, and quiet dogs we have met in a very long time. She never feels overwhelming and never fades into the background. She simply has a peaceful presence about her. She’s the kind of companion who is content to share life exactly as it comes, whether that’s a busy day full of activity or a quiet afternoon curled up beside you. Winnie is the kind of dog who leaves a lasting imprint on your heart. The kind you’ll find yourself smiling about years from now because of the joy she brought into your life. She is truly a blessing, and after everything she has been through, she deserves a family who will cherish her for the rest of her days. Winnie will be spayed, current on her vaccinations, and microchipped prior to adoption. Her adoption fee is on our website at the bottom of her adoption listing at https://www.breadoflifek9refuge.org/post/winnie-2 This includes her spay, vaccinations, microchip, veterinary care, treatment of her ear infections, ongoing medications and follow-up care, as well as all of the love, care, socialization, training, and grooming she will have recieved while with us. We know her person is out there somewhere. We hope they find her soon. ❤️

We would love to add Nyx to our trip for the right family 😊 Nyx 💕 We decided to make an adoption listing just for Nyx outside of her conjoined adoption listing with her siblings so you can fall In love with HER 💞 Born 11/21/2025 Some dogs walk into your life loudly demanding attention. Nyx isn’t one of them. She doesn’t need to be the center of every moment to be noticed. There’s something about her that quietly pulls you in all on its own. The way she watches you before deciding to crawl into your lap. The way she follows behind you from room to room just to make sure she’s near. The way she can go from playful and silly one moment to completely melted into your arms the next. Nyx is the last of her siblings still waiting for a home of her own. Both of her siblings have already found wonderful families, and while we know Nyx’s person is out there too, we also know some dogs simply take a little longer because they are meant for someone very specific. And honestly… that feels true for her. Since her siblings left for their homes, Nyx has changed in such a sweet and beautiful way emotionally. While she still enjoys playing and being silly, she has become much more connected to her people and truly thrives on closeness and companionship now. She has really started leaning into being someone’s little shadow. She loves sleeping in bed with her person or curled up in a bed nearby where she can still see you and feel close. There is something incredibly comforting to her about simply being near the people she loves. Nyx is such a beautiful balance in personality. She has confidence without being overwhelming. She’s playful without being chaotic. Affectionate without being demanding. She has this easy, natural way about her that makes her fit into everyday life so effortlessly. She loves toys, enjoys exploring, and is always curious about what’s happening around her. But more than anything, she loves being included. She wants to know where you are, what you’re doing, and whether she can come too. And usually… she can. She is the kind of little companion who will happily follow you through your daily routine, curl up beside you while you work, nap quietly nearby while you relax, and then spring back to life the moment you ask if she wants to go for a ride. She travels beautifully and settles into new environments so nicely for a puppy her age. Nyx has been raised inside our home from the very beginning, never in a kennel environment. She has grown up underfoot in the middle of everyday life, learning structure, routine, handling, grooming, socialization, and what it means to be part of a family. Because of that, she is incredibly connected to people and very comfortable being loved on, carried, cuddled, and included. She is doing wonderfully with her house training and has really been learning to go outside to use the restroom consistently. She is smart, eager, and very capable of continuing her training with consistency and guidance in her adoptive home. She currently knows “stay” and has been working on “sit,” especially when treats are involved because food motivation definitely speaks her language 😅 We were told at the time of surrender that their mama is an Imperial Shih Tzu and their dad is a traditional Shih Tzu. As Nyx has matured, I do think there could possibly be a mix somewhere in there, though I could absolutely be wrong. I always prefer to share honestly what I observe as puppies grow and develop so families know exactly what we are seeing too. What I do know for certain is that she is absolutely precious, incredibly loving, and going to make someone a truly wonderful little companion. All of Nyx’s veterinary care has been completed through our vet. She has received four rounds of DA2PP vaccinations, her Bordetella vaccine, her one year rabies vaccine, has been microchipped, thoroughly examined, and cleared healthy. She will go home with her health certificate and medical records. A fecal test also showed one type of parasite, which she has been fully treated for through our veterinarian so she goes home healthy and cleared. Because of her age, Nyx will go home on a spay contract. We prefer allowing puppies the time to properly grow and develop before undergoing those procedures, as it can support healthier long term growth overall. Nyx’s adoption fee is on our website at the bottom of her adoption listing on our website at https://www.breadoflifek9refuge.org/post/__nyx This includes all veterinary care, vaccines, microchip and registration, deworming through our veterinarian, health certificate, as well as the countless hours of hands on care, grooming, training, socialization, structure, and love she has received while being raised inside our home. She is not just another puppy looking for somewhere to land. She is a tiny little soul who has been deeply loved from the very beginning, and we are waiting for the person who will continue loving her for the rest of her life. If Nyx feels like she may be the missing piece to your world, we would love to hear from you ❤️

We would love to add Luna to our trip for the right family 😊 There is something about Luna that you don’t fully understand until you’ve had her in your arms… and then suddenly, nothing else matters. Luna is the black-coated beauty of this trio, and while she may be small in size, weighing in right above 4 pounds mark at 2 years of age, her heart is expansive in a way that feels almost human. She is the true sweetheart. The one who leans in just a little closer, who watches you with soft, knowing eyes that feel like they’re truly seeing you. She doesn’t demand attention… she draws you in. Quietly. Naturally. The kind of presence that feels like peace. Luna came to us alongside her siblings after their previous owner made the incredibly difficult but loving decision to surrender them due to a demanding schedule that no longer allowed her to be present in the way these girls deserved. That love is something Luna has carried with her, and you can feel it in how deeply she bonds. She is wonderful with other dogs and does beautifully with cats as well. She is also very gentle with people, though she will need a patient and understanding home as she continues navigating life outside of her sisters—learning what it means to stand confidently on her own and build that one-on-one bond with her person. Luna is incredibly quiet by nature and not a barker. The only time you’ll hear her little voice is when she’s happy or excited—she has the sweetest way of “talking” in those moments that will absolutely melt you. She is great on road trips of any length and settles in beautifully, making her an easy companion whether it’s a quick errand or a long journey. She is also wonderful at the groomer and handles the process with ease. Luna is pad trained and does very well with consistency. Due to her tiny size, she is fully dependent on her person for outdoor time—including potty breaks—so a structured routine will be important if her adopter prefers transitioning her fully outside. She is crate trained, and for us that means she sleeps peacefully through the night in her crate without distress. She can also do very well in a small, safe, confined area if a crate is not preferred, as long as that space is secure and comforting for her. Luna is leash trained and LOVES her walks. Given her size, she is very easy to carry as well while she continues to build confidence and learns to enjoy the world from the ground up 💗 She is spayed and has received a full dental cleaning. She will also go home current on vaccines, microchipped, and with a full veterinary exam and health certificate. Her adoption fee is on our website at the bottom of her adoption listing at https://www.breadoflifek9refuge.org/post/_luna-3 reflecting the care and preparation she has received. Luna is not just looking for a home… she is looking for her person. The one she can quietly love with her whole heart.
