We would love to add Lillie to our trip for the right family 😊 Meet Lillie, our beautiful little Maltipoo girl, who at just a year and a half old is quite possibly one of the sweetest little souls you could ever have the pleasure of knowing. 🩷 She is naturally small and petite, with a beautiful white coat kissed with the softest hints of apricot, and a personality that makes you wish you could somehow bottle up all the love she has to give and carry it with you everywhere you go. If I could describe Lillie in the simplest way possible, I would tell you to imagine your favorite slice of pie, freshly baked and served warm from your grandmother’s oven. You know that feeling? The comfort, the sweetness, the familiarity, and the happiness that comes with something made entirely out of love? Well, that is Lillie, served up fresh and warm every single moment of every single day! 🩷 She is sweetness in its purest form, wrapped up in four tiny paws and a heart that seems to have been made for the sole purpose of loving someone. Lillie is, without question, a people dog. She absolutely adores human companionship, and there is nowhere in this world she would rather be than right beside the person she loves. Whether that means curled up in your arms, resting comfortably beside you, accompanying you around the house, or simply keeping you company while you go about your day, she finds her greatest happiness in being included. She isn’t demanding in the sense that she needs you to entertain her every waking moment. In fact, she is quite content to go about her day while you tend to the responsibilities of yours. She will happily settle into a comfortable spot, enjoy one of her favorite toys, or lounge nearby while you work. But every so often, you’ll catch her checking to make sure you’re still close, as though she’s simply reassuring herself that her favorite person hasn’t wandered too far away. And when she realizes you have a moment to spare? Well, she will happily accept every bit of affection you’re willing to offer! She loves being held, snuggled, carried, and loved on. She has such a naturally affectionate personality and seems to find genuine comfort in physical closeness. There is something incredibly sweet about how completely content she becomes when she’s nestled in your arms, as though the entire world could keep turning around her and she wouldn’t have a single concern as long as she was right there with you. Because companionship means so much to Lillie, I would especially love to see her in a home with someone who is retired, works from home, has a flexible daily schedule, or perhaps even has the opportunity to bring her along to the office. She would make an absolutely wonderful little companion for someone whose lifestyle allows her to be included in much of their day. And when I say included, I really do mean included! 😂 Lillie has already shown us that she is perfectly happy accompanying us in a doggy carrier when we’re out and about. If your lifestyle allows for a little companion to tag along on errands or outings where pets are welcome, she would absolutely embrace that opportunity. She is small enough to make carrying her convenient, and she seems to think that being tucked into her carrier while remaining close to her person is a pretty wonderful arrangement. Of course, we understand that there will always be times when our dogs simply cannot come along, and Lillie has been learning that those moments are perfectly okay, too. We have been very intentional about helping her feel comfortable and secure when we need to step away from home. Before leaving, we make sure she has her favorite bed, a cozy blanket, familiar toys, and a few treats to enjoy while we’re gone. It’s become our little compromise with her. She may not get to accompany us on every outing, but she gets to settle into a familiar, comfortable space with some of her favorite things until we return. And she has done well with this routine. While I don’t believe Lillie would be happiest in a home where she is left alone for long stretches of the day, she certainly doesn’t require someone to be physically holding her every moment. She simply thrives on companionship, consistency, and knowing that the people she loves are part of her everyday life. She is not a high-energy dog whatsoever, which makes her such a lovely companion for someone looking for a peaceful, affectionate little friend to share their days with. She enjoys being involved in whatever is happening, but she doesn’t need constant activity to feel fulfilled. A comfortable place to rest, a little time to play, a nice walk, and plenty of opportunities for affection are the kinds of things that make her world complete. And if you’ve been going through your days feeling as though something is missing, I have a pretty good feeling that what you need is a little dose of Lillie! 🙃🩷 She also has the most adorable playful side, and I absolutely love seeing it come to life. Lillie has a special fondness for soft plush toys and genuinely enjoys entertaining herself with them. Watching her become silly and playful is such a joy because she seems to put her whole little heart into those moments. She has this beautiful way of finding happiness in the simplest things, and her playful personality brings such a wonderful balance to her otherwise calm, affectionate nature. Lillie is also wonderful with other animals and would happily welcome the opportunity to become a little sister to another dog or even a cat. She is comfortable sharing her space and enjoys the companionship of other furry friends. However, she certainly doesn’t need another animal in her life to be happy. If her future home consisted of just Lillie and her person, I truly believe her heart would be every bit as full. For her, it’s not about how many companions she has, but rather the love and connection she shares with them. She is house trained and has done beautifully with the routine we have established here. When we ask her to go outside to use the restroom, she understands what we’re asking and does very well. There is one little thing about her potty routine that I think is especially endearing, and that is her preference for having someone nearby while she’s outside. Lillie doesn’t particularly enjoy being left outdoors by herself, and thankfully, she doesn’t take very long to do her business. We simply accompany her outside or remain close to the door so we can welcome her back in as soon as she’s finished. She seems to genuinely appreciate knowing someone is there waiting for her, and it’s such a small gesture that means so much to her. I would love for her future family to continue offering her that same reassurance, especially while she is becoming familiar with her new home and surroundings. She is crate trained as well, although we have discovered that she much prefers sleeping in a comfortable little bed of her own. So, naturally, we came to an agreement! 😂 Lillie gets to sleep in her bed beside ours at night, and she has been very happy with this arrangement. She gets the comfort of knowing we’re close while still having her own cozy space to rest. I believe she would absolutely love to continue sleeping beside her future family in a bed of her own. Now, if you’re someone who enjoys having your dog sleep in bed with you, I have no doubt Lillie would consider that the ultimate expression of love. Being invited to snuggle up beside her favorite person all night would probably be her idea of heaven! But I do have to offer one little word of advice: if you invite this girl into your bed, make sure it’s an arrangement you’re prepared to love for years to come, because I have a feeling once she discovers just how wonderful that is, she won’t be volunteering to sleep anywhere else! 😎🩷 Lillie does beautifully on leash and genuinely enjoys going for walks. She is such a pleasant little companion to have beside you, and I would love to see her continue enjoying regular outings with her future family. She also does wonderfully on car rides and has been a great companion during our trips around town. Whether she’s accompanying us on a little drive or heading out for an afternoon adventure, she seems happiest simply knowing she’s been invited along. She also enjoys her grooming appointments and does very well with our groomer during her spa days. When Lillie first came into our care, she had some matting throughout her coat that required us to have her clipped shorter than we ordinarily would have preferred. Her comfort and the health of her skin were our priority, so we made sure those areas were properly addressed. As her beautiful coat grows back, she’ll begin to regain that soft, fluffy Maltipoo appearance, and I can only imagine how adorable she’ll be with a little more length to her hair. Although, truthfully, I think she’s absolutely beautiful just as she is right now. Another lovely quality about Lillie is that she is not a habitual barker. She is generally quiet and content, but she is also incredibly smart and has learned how to communicate her needs with us. If she needs to go outside or notices that her water bowl needs to be refilled, she has her own little ways of letting us know. She pays attention to the people around her and is wonderfully engaging, making it easy to understand what she’s trying to tell us once you become familiar with her personality. There is a genuine intelligence behind that sweet little face, and I think her future family will have so much fun discovering all the little ways she communicates and connects with them. Lillie’s story before coming to us is one that truly pulls at the heart. Her previous owner loved her very much, but unfortunately became seriously ill and found herself needing to spend significant amounts of time in and out of the hospital receiving medical treatments. With no family or friends available to help care for Lillie during those absences, she was faced with an incredibly difficult situation. She loved her little girl and wanted nothing more than to keep her close, but her health had reached a point where she could no longer provide the companionship and daily care that Lillie needed. With each hospital stay, Lillie was spending more time alone, and her owner could see how much that was affecting a dog who simply wanted to be near the person she loved. Rather than allowing that to become Lillie’s everyday life, she made the heartbreaking decision to put her little girl’s happiness and well-being first. She reached out to us and asked if we would welcome Lillie into our care and help find her a home where she could once again enjoy the companionship, security, and affection she so deeply craved. And that is how this beautiful little soul found her way to our family. 🩷 Since coming to Bread of Life K9 Refuge, Lillie has been surrounded by love, companionship, and the daily routines that help her feel secure. We have had the opportunity to learn her preferences, continue building on her training, encourage her independence when necessary, and discover all the wonderful little things that make her who she is. She has reminded us that sometimes a dog’s greatest wish isn’t a big backyard, endless toys, or a life filled with extravagant adventures. Sometimes, all they truly want is someone to share the ordinary moments with. Someone to sit beside while they work, someone to accompany on a walk, someone to snuggle with at the end of the day, and someone whose presence makes everything feel right in the world. Lillie’s veterinary care is scheduled to be completed within the coming week, prior to her adoption. She will be spayed, brought current on her yearly vaccinations, microchipped, and receive a thorough veterinary examination to ensure she is healthy and ready for her next chapter. Her adoption listing will be updated once those appointments have been completed, including any additional findings or treatments recommended by our veterinarian, such as a dental cleaning if one is determined to be necessary. We believe in making sure our dogs receive the care they need before beginning their new lives, and Lillie will be no exception. What I hope most for this little girl is that she finds someone who has been wishing for exactly the kind of love she has to offer. Someone who looks forward to having a little shadow following them from room to room. Someone who doesn’t mind pausing what they’re doing to scoop her up for a cuddle. Someone who will smile when they see her happily entertaining herself with a plush toy, appreciate the way she checks to make sure they’re nearby, and understand that being included in everyday life is what makes her happiest. She doesn’t need someone to keep her entertained from morning until night, and she doesn’t need a life where every day is filled with something exciting. She simply needs a person who enjoys companionship as much as she does, someone who will welcome her into their routine and give her the opportunity to be the affectionate, devoted little girl she was always meant to be. Lillie has already experienced what it feels like to miss someone she loves, and I would be so happy to see her find a home where those long, lonely days become a thing of the past. We would love to add Macey to our trip for the right family 😊 Meet Macey, our beautiful one-year-old Maltese and Yorkshire Terrier mix, with a heart full of happiness, a gentle little spirit, and a personality that makes loving her feel like the easiest thing in the world. 🩷 There are some dogs who need a little time to figure out where they belong, and then there are dogs like Macey, who seem to have been born with the understanding that wherever love is waiting, that’s exactly where they’re meant to be. Macey is one of those incredibly special little girls who can walk into your life and make herself a part of it so naturally that before you know it, you’ll find yourself wondering how she wasn’t there from the very beginning. She doesn’t need an elaborate introduction, weeks of convincing, or a grand invitation to become your friend. She simply meets you, decides that you’re someone worth loving, and begins sharing that beautiful little heart of hers as though you’ve been part of her world forever. And what a wonderful heart she has. 🩷 Macey is naturally sweet, affectionate, and wonderfully easygoing. She has such a calm, gentle nature about her, but don’t mistake that peaceful personality for a lack of happiness or enthusiasm! This little girl has enough wiggles and tail wags to brighten even the longest of days. She has the most endearing way of expressing her excitement, her entire little body joining in whenever she’s especially happy to see someone or realizes she’s about to be included in something wonderful. She can find just as much joy in a quiet afternoon spent lounging near her person as she can in an outing to somewhere new. She doesn’t need the world to revolve around her, but she absolutely loves being part of yours. Whether your days are filled with activity, errands, walks, family time, or peaceful evenings at home, Macey has a beautiful ability to settle into the rhythm of whatever life looks like around her. I truly believe she will make someone an extraordinary everyday companion because she brings such a lovely balance of affection, playfulness, and contentment into everything she does. She is wonderfully social and enjoys meeting new people, making friends wherever she goes. She has an inviting, cheerful personality that makes it easy for others to fall in love with her, and she seems just as delighted to make their acquaintance. She is comfortable sharing her space with furry companions and has shown us how beautifully she can coexist with them. I could easily see her joining a family with existing pets and becoming a wonderful little sister, but I also believe she would be perfectly happy being someone’s one and only. She has so much affection to offer that either arrangement could be incredibly fulfilling for her, provided she has the companionship and love she deserves. One of the things I appreciate most about Macey is how naturally she adapts to the daily routines of our home. She is a very smart little girl who pays attention to what is happening around her and seems genuinely interested in understanding what is expected of her. She is house trained and does wonderfully with our established potty schedule. We take her outside every couple of hours throughout the day, and when asked to go out and use the restroom, she understands what we’re asking and happily follows along. Because she is still young, I would encourage her future family to continue with a consistent routine as she becomes familiar with her new home. Even dogs with wonderful house-training habits benefit from a little extra guidance when their surroundings, schedules, and expectations change. Macey has been so responsive to the structure we provide that I believe she will have a lovely foundation to build upon as she settles into her next chapter. She is crate trained as well and is comfortable sleeping in her crate at night if that is the arrangement her future family prefers. However, I will tell you that Macey absolutely enjoys being close to the people she loves, and if given the choice, I have a feeling she would happily select a cozy little bed of her own right beside yours. There’s something so sweet about a dog who doesn’t necessarily need to be held every moment but simply finds comfort in knowing you’re nearby. Macey has that beautiful quality. She enjoys companionship without being overly demanding, and I could easily imagine her curling up in her own little bed at the end of the day, completely content just knowing that her favorite person is close enough to share the peacefulness of the evening with her. She is also leash trained and genuinely enjoys going for daily walks. She loves having the opportunity to venture out, explore her surroundings, and experience the world alongside us. Her social personality makes these outings especially enjoyable, as she is always happy to make a new friend along the way. Macey does wonderfully on car rides and has been a fantastic little travel companion. She takes our outings in stride and seems to genuinely enjoy the experience of going somewhere together. Whether it’s a short drive around town or a longer adventure, she is happy to come along and be included. She is equally wonderful during her grooming appointments and does beautifully with our groomer. Macey has a gorgeous coat that leans much more toward her Maltese heritage, with a naturally straighter texture and beautiful length. Her coat is non-shedding in our experience, making her a lovely possibility for families who appreciate a lower-shedding companion, although no dog is completely allergen-free. And one of the best things about Macey is that she actually enjoys being brushed! 🩷 For anyone who loves the beautiful, flowing appearance of a Maltese-type coat, this is such a wonderful quality. Regular brushing and professional grooming will still be important to keeping her hair healthy, comfortable, and free of tangles, but Macey’s enjoyment of that one-on-one attention makes maintaining her coat a lovely opportunity for bonding rather than simply another responsibility. She is such a pretty little girl, and with her beautiful hair, cheerful expression, and naturally sweet personality, she has a way of making everyone around her smile. Macey is not a habitual barker, which is another quality that makes her such a pleasant companion to share a home with. She has a peaceful nature and doesn’t feel the need to announce every little sound or movement around her. She is happy to observe what is happening, enjoy the company of those around her, and go about her day without creating unnecessary commotion. But she certainly knows how to have fun! Macey loves to play and has a wonderfully cheerful, playful side that comes to life when she’s enjoying herself. She can happily engage with her person, enjoy time with other dogs, or entertain herself when everyone is busy tending to their own responsibilities. I love that about her because she doesn’t need constant direction or attention to find something enjoyable about her day. She is comfortable simply being herself, whether that means playing, exploring, resting, or sharing affection. Her story before coming to us is one that reminds us how quickly life circumstances can change, even when the love we have for our animals remains exactly the same. Macey’s previous owner lived in an apartment and loved her little girl dearly. Unfortunately, when her work hours were reduced, the decrease in income made it increasingly difficult to keep up with the financial responsibilities of having a dog, particularly the additional pet fees associated with her apartment. As she looked ahead, she began to worry not only about those immediate expenses but also about the everyday things Macey needed to continue living a happy, healthy life. Regular grooming, a quality diet, veterinary care, and all the little necessities that come with responsible pet ownership were becoming harder to afford. She didn’t want to wait until Macey began going without. She loved her too much to allow her own financial difficulties to affect the quality of life this beautiful girl deserved. And while the decision to let her go was incredibly difficult, she recognized that Macey had her whole life ahead of her and deserved the opportunity to enjoy it without those uncertainties. So she reached out to us and asked if we would welcome Macey into our care and help find her the very best home possible. A home where she would continue receiving the love, stability, companionship, and care that every dog deserves, and where her future could be filled with all the wonderful things her previous owner had hoped to provide. And that is how our beautiful Macey became part of our family here at Bread of Life K9 Refuge. 🩷 Since joining us, she has been such a joy to have around. Her naturally happy personality, gentle temperament, and wonderful social skills have made it easy to welcome her into our everyday lives. She has continued enjoying the companionship of other animals, building on her training, participating in our daily routines, and receiving the hands-on care and attention that help prepare our dogs for their forever homes. She has a beautiful way of making herself at home without asking for very much in return. A little affection, a comfortable place to rest, some time to play, and the opportunity to be included in whatever is happening around her seem to be the ingredients for a perfectly wonderful day in Macey’s world. Her veterinary care has been completed, and she has received a wonderful report from our veterinarian. Macey has been spayed, is current on her vaccinations, and has been microchipped. She also underwent a thorough veterinary examination and was cleared by our veterinarian to begin looking for a home of her own. She is ready to begin this next chapter with a wonderful foundation of care, companionship, and training already established. When I think about the kind of home I would love for Macey, I don’t necessarily picture one particular lifestyle or family arrangement. That’s part of what makes her so special. I could see her being a wonderful companion for someone who enjoys quiet mornings, peaceful evenings, and the simple happiness of having a little friend by their side. I could just as easily envision her joining a family whose days are full of activity, laughter, outings, and opportunities for her to be involved. She is adaptable, affectionate, social, and so naturally content with life that I believe she has the ability to fit beautifully into many different homes. What matters most is that she is loved, included, and appreciated for the wonderful little girl she is. I hope her future family will cherish those enthusiastic tail wags, the happy little wiggles that come with her greetings, her willingness to accompany them wherever the day may lead, and the gentle companionship she offers during life’s quieter moments. Because sometimes the greatest friendships aren’t the ones that require us to change our entire lives. Sometimes they are the ones that slip so naturally into the life we already have that everything simply feels a little more complete.
