Story
This sweet girl’s journey began on November 15, 2025, when a good Samaritan noticed her roaming the streets of her neighborhood. Frightened and unsure, she would not allow anyone to get close. Hoping she belonged nearby, the good Samaritan followed her, trying to lead her back home.
When she asked a neighbor if the dog was theirs, she was met with a heartbreaking response: they had witnessed a car drive by and throw the dog out of the window.
Despite her fear, she continued returning to the same area and was repeatedly seen on Ring camera footage. Over time, she began seeking refuge on a recliner chair on a front porch. After more than two weeks surviving on the streets, she was humanely trapped and brought indoors. Once safe, her true personality began to shine. She has proven to be incredibly gentle and affectionate, showing zero signs of aggression and allowing handling with ease.
Not long after, it became clear she was pregnant, likely either just before or shortly after being abandoned. Even while navigating fear, hunger, and uncertainty, she carried on.
Now lovingly named Ember, she is being fostered by the good Samaritan’s daughter, who has opened her home to give Ember the stability and care she deserves (and also nicknamed her Chicka). They reached out to our rescue for additional support, and we were more than happy to step in to ensure Ember has everything she needs.
Despite being discarded at her most vulnerable, Ember remains affectionate, trusting, and incredibly kind. She chose to trust again when given the chance, and her resilience is nothing short of remarkable.
We named her Ember because this sweet mama was wandering like a glowing ember: small but strong, searching for a safe place to land. Even after being abandoned, her spark never went out.
