Buckaroo is a neutered male Smooth Fox Terrier mix, born about May, 2024. He is loving, bright and adores attention. Fox Terriers are smart and trainable and require some daily exercise to live their best lives. Buckaroo weighs about 14 lbs, is neutered, and is healthy. He’s from a former breeder who passed away, but while they look like purebred Smooth Fox Terriers, we don’t have any paperwork and so they could be a mixed breed. Buckaroo will make a loving and lovable companion who also happens to be adorable.  $125 This covers the cost of spay/neuter, DHPP, Rabies, Flea, tick, heart worm check, worm treatment, and microchip. To adopt, you need to first fill out an application. Go to: https://rutherfordcountyhumanesociety.org/dog-adoption-application/ We are located in Western North Carolina.     Optional transport is weekly.  After your application is approved, we will contact you regarding cost and delivery if you so desire.December 5, 2025, 1:43 pm

Meet Lorretta — the tiny legend who refuses to act her age!At 15 years young, this spry Jack Russell Terrier has more sparkle than most dogs half her age. Originally adopted from LHS in 2022, Lorretta recently returned to us through no fault of her own — her owner had to travel extensively for work and wanted her to have the stability and companionship she deserves.Lorretta is a professional snuggler and takes her job very seriously. If there’s a blanket, a lap, or a warm human nearby, she’s ready to clock in. But don’t let her senior status fool you — this girl still knows how to play, prance, and charm her way into your heart. She’s got that perfect blend of cozy-cuddly and spry-and-sassy.One important thing to know: Lorretta has been diagnosed with renal disease and will need to remain on a special kidney-supportive diet. Her new family will need to maintain a good, ongoing relationship with their veterinarian to ensure she stays comfortable and well-supported as she ages. She’s worth every bit of that extra love and care.Lorretta would prefer to be your one-and-only pet, soaking up all the attention, but may consider a home with other VERY mellow pets who will let her be on her own and give her space. She can do well with older, respectful, dog-savvy kids. Mostly, she wants a calm home, a comfy bed, someone to snuggle, and a family who appreciates the magic of a seasoned sweetheart.If you’re ready to open your heart to a senior girl with a whole lot of life left to love, Lorretta is waiting to meet you.Our shelter is open every day from 12-4, closed on Mondays.
