Otter was rescued as a stray. She is currently in a foster home in Glastonbury with other cats, dogs, and kids, and loves them all! She is very playful, affectionate, friendly, and mischievous. She needs to have at least one other pet to play with in her new home, and would prefer a small or medium-sized dog. She is a beautiful tortie point Snowshoe Siamese with blue eyes. Otter is 3 months old, and has been spayed, microchipped, vaccinated for rabies/distemper, and tested negative for FIV/FeLV.

Story
Meet Loza – A Little Girl Who Sees the World Through Her Heart Beautiful Loza is an adorable 8-month-old female Snowshoe mix with Native Egyptian Mau heritage. She may have been born without sight, but she certainly hasn't let that stop her from enjoying life or giving love. Loza was born blind, and she has been examined by veterinarians on three separate visits, all confirming that her blindness is congenital and that she was born this way. Despite being blind, Loza is an amazing little girl who has learned to navigate her world with her other senses. She is fully litter-trained and knows exactly where her litter box is by its familiar scent. If her box is moved and she cannot locate it, she will simply meow until someone helps guide her back to it. Most importantly, Loza is an incredibly loving, sweet, and affectionate girl. She doesn't know that she's different—she simply knows that she loves people and wants to be loved in return. Loza would do best in a safe, predictable home where her litter box, food, water, and favorite resting places remain in consistent locations. With a little understanding and patience, a blind cat like Loza can live a happy, fulfilling, and deeply loving life. She may not be able to see you, but she will know your voice, your touch, and your love. And once Loza trusts you, you'll have a devoted little companion who will melt your heart. Loza is waiting for someone special to see what everyone else should see—a beautiful, loving little soul who deserves a forever home. Interested in adopting Loza? We are a rescue and get what we get in terms of cats in need of a home. In no way do we work with breeders or buy the cats from the Friday markets so we can put them up for adoption as a rescue. Native Mau Cats of Egypt are the oldest known descendants of Egyptian domesticated cats (which have provided a partial foundation for the recent Egyptian Mau cat breed), and they are one of only a few naturally occurring, small, spotted cats in the world. Adoptions are on a cost-recovery basis and by an approved application.   NVEcats aims to increase education in Egypt and around the world about these magnificent and intelligent cats. ADOPT AN EGYPTIAN LIVING ANTIQUITY! Bastet’s Cat Sanctuary Inc., a program of Nile Valley Egyptian Foundation Inc., rescues homeless, abandoned, and abused cats from Egypt and gives them the opportunity to find loving, permanent homes in the United States. Many of these beautiful cats are native Egyptian breeds and local cats whose ancestors have lived in Egypt for generations. In their homeland, street cats are often treated as vermin. We believe they deserve compassion, safety, and a family of their own. YOUR CAT WILL BE THOROUGHLY VETTED Our cats receive extensive medical preparation before traveling to the United States. All cats will receive: Spay or neuter surgery Flea treatment Deworming treatment Ear mite treatment Giardia testing and/or treatment as appropriate Microchipping Age-appropriate vaccinations Rabies titer performed by the Government of Egypt Agricultural Laboratory to confirm rabies protection Blood chemistry testing, including: CBC (Complete Blood Count) BUN/Creatinine for kidney health ALT/Bilirubin for liver health FIV/FeLV testing Toxoplasmosis testing Mycoplasma testing TWO HEALTH EXAMS BEFORE LEAVING EGYPT Every cat receives two health examinations prior to departure from Egypt. The first examination is performed by a private veterinarian, who evaluates the cat's health and issues the required Certificate of Veterinary Inspection (CVI). A second health examination is performed before the cat leaves Cairo for the United States. Upon arrival in the United States, the cats are subject to inspection by U.S. Customs and Border Protection and CDC authorities before they are released to their new families. OUR ADOPTION REQUIREMENTS We are looking for extraordinary adopters who understand that adopting one of our cats is a lifetime commitment. Applicants must: Be 21 years of age or older Complete our adoption application Provide a veterinarian reference so medical records can be transferred Be prepared to provide quality nutrition and appropriate veterinary care Commit to keeping their adopted cat safe, loved, and protected for life The adoption donation is cost-recovery, helping us continue rescuing and preparing more cats for their journey to loving homes.
