Story
Hareln was so lucky to get to go on an adventure with some amazing volunteers. This is what they had to say about him.About Harlan:Harlan is likely an Anatolian Shepard/Black Mouth Cur Mix, and man oh man, whoever adopts this handsome boy is lucky indeed, as he is very near perfect for a young adolescent dog. Truly RUN, don`t walk to adopt this amazing dog. I can`t tell you how many times we turned to one another and just said, `Gosh, he is SO good.`Harlan is a super sweet, affectionate boy who just wants to connect and bond with his `pack.` He gives lots of sweet kisses, and we think he would be great with kids. He is extremely smart and highly trainable. He isn`t like some dogs that are strong-willed and don`t listen. Harlan is quite submissive and just needs structure and a benevolent alpha to set the boundaries and make him feel safe. He will do SO GREAT with that structure. After just two days, we made great strides on house training him (got about 75% there) and teaching him how to go up and down stairs. He did so well!! Another amazing thing about Harlan is that he is an absolute angel in the car, which makes him the ideal road trip dog! He doesn`t appear to have much separation anxiety either when left in a car for short periods of time or in the house. We ran some errands, testing out his behavior in a car, and he fell right asleep in the back. Other dogs might become destructive, but not Harlan. When we were driving for several hours, he also quietly snoozed in the back seat. We were in awe, honestly. For being an adolescent (still some puppy aspects), he is exceedingly mellow!!After two days, we didn`t observe ANY behaviors that were concerning or signaling trauma. He hasn`t picked up any bad behaviors, which is another reason to go get him today! He doesn`t bite, bark aggressively, growl at other dogs or people, or display any food possessiveness. We encountered a few dogs and people on our adventures, and he was really good with everyone we met! He was very confused about encountering his reflection in a mirror, which made us laugh so hard!! He is so adorable. He is great on walks, no pulling, and truly just a curious guy! True to his mix breed, he has a prey drive and definitely wants to get at those squirrels, so if you have small animals or cats, keep your wits about you! We are pretty confident that he would be great off-leash with some training, as he stuck right at our side for every walk. He i
