Story
Meet Moose – A Gentle Giant with a Heart of Gold! Moose is a one-year-old, neutered St. Bernard looking for his forever home. This incredibly sweet, lovable goofball has a personality as big as his heart! Moose has never met a stranger. He greets everyone like a long-lost friend, full of excitement and affection, yet he's gentle and respectful despite his size. One of Moose's most endearing habits is his love for stuffed animals. You'll rarely find him without a favorite stuffy proudly carried in his mouth! He also loves romping around in the field, playing with toys, going for car rides, enjoying treats, and, most of all, cuddling with his favorite humans. Moose is food-motivated and eager to please, making him a joy to work with. He's crate-trained, settles in nicely, and does well with grooming and baths, especially when there's a lick mat involved!  He gets along well with younger female dogs and would love a playful female companion who can match his energy and share in his adventures. Moose's Perfect Home:    Moose would thrive in a loving home with a little property where he can stretch his legs, explore, play, and simply enjoy being a dog. Although he enjoys outings, he can be reactive to other dogs while on leash. A home where he has room to exercise without relying on frequent neighborhood walks would be ideal. Moose has so much love to give! He's a loyal, affectionate, fun-loving boy who just needs the right family to share his big heart with. If you're looking for a devoted companion who will make you smile every day (and probably greet you with a stuffed toy in his mouth), Moose is ready to meet you!   Could you be Moose's happily ever after?   Please call Caitlin at 707-490-8869. Story
A dear friend of mine's family in Pennsylvania were moving to Hawaii and couldn't take Bentley with them. They said he was fine around cats. He is loving, listens well, food-driven to obey; but goes "ballistic" even hearing our cat down the hall where our cat has to live now :( We have tried most everything but the Vet says it's a "prey instinct" we can't change. Unfortunately our cat became very stressed and needed medical attention as he was licking his fur off his body and developing sores and is on medication. Bentley loves to go for walks and loves to swim in our pool. He doesn't play fetch but if trained he probably would. My husband and I are elderly and can only do so much. Our heart breaks for our situation and for our cat and Bentley. He cannot be in a home with cats. Please spread the work about this wonderful large, loving dog to find him a good fit soon. Thank you!

Story
Bailey is one Chill Dude! He is a big Velcro Dog. He pretty much just wants to sleep most of the day, as long as he knows where you are but loves a nice long walk too. He is great on leash, no pulling or reactivity. He is the epitome of a gentle giant. He loves his foster's Cal King bed. She said she probably should not have let him get on it BUT the lure of having a huge snuggle bunny in bed at night, was just too tempting. Now he is in heaven and rarely leaves the bed. Bailey came from the Stockton Shelter, he had a large mass on his spleen, and an enlarged prostate with 2 very large testicles swinging around. We were able to raise $5,000 to get all of his medical done - splenectomy, neuter and ears cleaned and treated) and now he is just perfect. Tumor was benign so he is ready to be your life size snuggle bunny, if you are ready. We have noticed slight resource guarding with human food (reason he should not be in the kitchen) and high value treats but it is not very bad and we are working on it using "trade up" or not allowing him to have items he feels he needs to guard. As far as other dogs, he really does not care about them. Same with cats, just sorta looks at them and then goes about his business. BUT, that does not mean there is no prey drive. We will be testing him. As far as children go, we have not had him around any of those yet, but will. I suspect he treats them just like everything else, checks it out and then moves on his way. He does have a special need. We are pretty sure he is deaf. While he was under for his operation they cleaned out his ears and treated them but he still does not really hear much. Might be why he is so chill. We will have the ears looked at next to see if there is anything more needed for him. He is ready for new foster home or adoption. We are willing to do a Foster to Adopt or just a foster if you are interested. We need him to get more interaction with other stimuli, the home he is in now is very quiet. Story
Big, handsome Samson, with a friendly, happy temperament. He has gone on day trips and to adoption events and has been praised by all as a very good boy!DAY TRIP REPORT:He was SUCH a good boy for us.He was a pro in the car...hopped right into the back seat and was happiest when he had his head right between us for scratches and attention. We walked around downtown Davis and UCD campus and he loved getting all the sniffs in. He is definitely strong, but is such a good walker. He was a very happy slobber monster on the way back.CAR SHOW/ADOPTION EVENT:He was a big attention grabber and had a lot of people coming up to say hello and learn about him.He was so gentle and calm around kids, didn't react to loud noises from the cars, and overall seemed so happy and content.OFFICE VISIT REPORT (see photos below):Samson is like a big Teddy bear who is sweet and friendly. We loved having him at the office and think he would be a great addition to any one's family.Only four-years-old, this big guy needs love and space. If you have it to give, please make an appointment at yoloshelter.org/dogs, or email adopt@yoloshelter.org.October 20, 2026, 2:31 am
