Story
Meet the "L" pups! These absolutely adorable, fluffy babies arrived at our rescue partner as an owner surrender after momma got pregnant. Mom is a Great Pyrenees mix, and they definitely appear to be mixed with Saint Bernard!
Please note that we cannot guarantee breed and CANNOT GUARANTEE ADULT WEIGHT. These puppies could be anywhere from 60 to 120+ pounds at maturity!
We STRONGLY recommend doing breed research before considering adopting one of these pups. Great Pyrenees are an independent and highly intelligent livestock guardian breed. They do best in a home with a fenced in backyard and will bark to alert at a leaf blowing in the wind two blocks away. They are incredible dogs, but it is very important to make sure you understand the breed prior to adopting.
From her current foster: "She definitely is still too young to sleep through the night. It's so hard to remember that she's only three months old and a baby. We went to bed at like 10 and she woke up at 12:30, 3:30, and 6am. She's very good about crying to let you know she needs to potty and is also very good about using potty pads for pee, continuing to reinforce potty pads will be a nice bonus for adopter until she learns to go outside. True to her Great Pyrenees instincts, she is a digger which is so cute. Leilani also LOVES to be outside, including in the rain! She tends to cry for a couple of minutes when kenneled or left in a gated room, but she settles very nicely. She is a champ in the car and just sleeps the whole time. She seems to get attached very quickly, so there is potential for her to develop separation anxiety if her human isn't intentional about low drama departures and arrivals. She would be a sweet girl for any loving family!
From her amazing previous foster: "Everyone Leilani meets falls in love with her. As confirmed by every one that has been blessed by her company, she is very well-mannered and calm. Every day we go to the park, and while I finish up my emails for the day, she loves to "people watch. Her patience is incredible. She has the heart of a Great Pyrenees but the laziness of a St. Bernard haha!!Needless to say she loves leisurely walks, children, pets, and snuggling with her stuffed monkey. Her gentleness is impressive for a puppy her age, but she is always down for a game of fetch. She is great in the kennel and on the leash, but we are still working on using stairs efficiently."
ADOPTION FEE: $500
We are a foster-based rescue and generally do not have pups available to meet at our office except during adoption events on Saturdays. Not every dog attends every adoption event.
Interested in this pup? The first step is to complete our online application by clicking the "Apply for Adoption" button. Please note that we are only able to finalize adoptions at events for approved adopters. The earlier you apply, the better as it takes time to review and approve applications.
We host adoption events almost every Saturday from 10:00am to 1:00pm at our rescue office (1721 W Harmony, unit 102, Fort Collins, Co 80526)! Check our Instagram and/or Facebook page for info on where we will be hosting adoptions this weekend!
All Aboard Animal Rescue saves dogs and puppies from high-kill shelters in other states. These pups are brought to Colorado, where they are required to be spayed or neutered - breaking the cycle of unwanted litters of puppies who end up as strays! Please consider supporting us in this mission by adopting, fostering, volunteering, or donating.
