Story
Ruby is named Ruby because Scaredy-cat is just a stupid name. She is sweet and gentle until something scares her, then she jumps. She’s good on a leash until something startles her, then she pulls…. And she’s strong. She’s a beautiful girl. Loving and gentle, loves attention but hates excitement. She’s not a guard dog, she’ll hide behind you in the threat of great danger, or if a butterfly scares her. Quiet, soft, and sweet Ruby, she wants to be right at your feet. This dog is sheltered in a foster based, nonprofit rescue. The Adoption Fee ($225 local, $525 transport) Includes Age-Appropriate Vaccinations (DA2PPV, Bordetella, Rabies), Deworming, Spay/Neuter, Microchip, Flea, Tick and Heartworm Treatment and Prevention, and Sheltering. Adult Dogs are Heartworm Tested and Treated as Needed. FOCCAS does not DNA test or guarantee breed. Almost Home believes that every animal deserves a loving home regardless of appearance, age, or physical limitation.  We have come together to give animals in need the safe and happy life they all deserve.  Almost Home Animal Rescue believes that no animal is expendable.  Adopting a friend:The animals, lucky enough to find refuge with Almost Home, are all in loving foster homes. If you are interested in the possibility of giving one of the animals a new lease on life, please contact us. The contact information is listed at the end of each biography.  What you need to do to adopt:If you would like to adopt a pet in need from Almost Home, basically, an application must be filled out. We will check two personal references and a vet reference. If you are approved for adoption, there is a trial period of about one week to make sure this is the animal for you and you are the person for the animal. Along with the trial period, a contract must be signed that basically states that if ever you cannot keep the animal that you must return the animal to Almost Home. Last but not least, a home check will be done. Meet & Greets:An approved application is required. This does not mean that you have to adopt but that you are approved to do so if everything works out. Since we are foster based, this limits the amount of people coming to our homes.  *Due to rescuer being very ill, all her dogs are in desperate need!!! Lilly is a very special girl, after one unfortunate circumstance after another, she finally found her peace and rehabilitation with her fosters and is ready to find her perfect forever family. She is a four year old small sized (pocket) pitty mix. Lilly earned the name, Wiggle Butt, almost immediately after meeting her current foster family because when she’s excited to see you she not only wags her tail, but her whole body! Lilly would love to be your one and only. “Wiggle butt” loves to take her blankets and pillows and make herself a comfortable nest, and she loves to organize her belongings. This includes moving her bowl of food, treats and toys to just the right spot! Her sweet and calm demeanor speaks volumes but just watch! When this girl gets excited, she is like a race car zooming by you! Lilly can be protective of her surroundings and family, which is why we are looking for an adopter that is willing to work with her on behaviors like this if necessary, and is active enough to take her on long walks, but don’t be fooled! She is a couch potato at heart! She would be very easy to retrain with housebreaking. We would be most comfortable placing Lilly with someone who is experienced in dog behavior and does not have any small children or elderly family members because of what she has been through. Have peanut butter... have Lilly! So, go buy a jar of peanut butter!!! *Guest Posting**No Small Children  If you would like to meet your new best friend, contact the Adoption Coordinator at info@almosthometn.org or 865-236-0830. To fill out an application, go to www.almosthometn.org. If you can't get it to work, let us know and we will send it to you in a different format. Adoption fee $150.ADOPTION FEE: The adoption fee for a cat is $85. The adoption fee for a kitten is $100. The adoption fee does include the kittens being fixed and their rabies shot when they are old enough through one of our local vets. The adoption fee for a dog is $200. The adoption fee for a puppy is $250. The adoption fee does include the puppies being fixed and their rabies shot when they are old enough through one of our local vets. Mature pet adoption fees are sometimes reduced. The adoption fee for pure bred dogs and cats will vary due to health and age of pet. This helps support our ill animals and our mutts that get left in the system longer. We do reserve the right to change the fees higher or lower due to the circumstance of the animal but what was stated above are the usual adoption fees.  Microchipped pets will have a higher adoption fee.  Our adoption fees do not cover the cost of the vetting and care the animal has received with us and if it ever does, the money just goes back it to helping other animals in need. April 27, 2024, 12:43 pm

I'm looking for a home where someone will be patient but firm so I can learn more. I don't know many of just the basics but I'm a fast learned. I've never really been given a fair shake. My mommy isn't sure if I'm housebroken or not but I'm willing to learn if I'm not. I really am a loving boy. My foster mom has been treating me for heartworms. I really just need to be sure that I get the monthly treatments at this point. I like other dogs and love people as well. I do have anxiety that I'm on meds for from everything I've been through but a doggie friend would really help that. I am very strong but am gentle at the same time. I really enjoy being outside, so I a fenced in yard is a must! Is there anyone out there who will make me a part of there family forever. I am praying there is. Love, Zion *Guest Posting**I'm not fixed yet but will be before adoption If you would like to meet your new best friend, contact the Adoption Coordinator at info@almosthometn.org or 865-236-0830. Since we are foster based, this limits the amount of people coming to our homes.  Meet Bad Luck Buck: Buck had the misfortune to suffer a gunshot to the rear leg and the bullet exited the leg and penetrated his skull and damaged his eye. He was just left to die. When the County animal control officer found Buck, he was emaciated and in severe pain from the gunshot. Buck’s rear limb had to be amputated. He has now recovered and is ready to find his forever home. Buck is a one year old, three legged, one eyed, neutered male pitty mix who is current on heartworm prevention and vaccinations. He does well with our female large breed dog. We do not think Buck will be good in a household with birds or cats. Buck loves cuddles. Despite all that Buck has been through, he never lost his sweetness. He knows some commands and is potty trained. He enjoys playing outside but is always ready to go take a break in his kennel. Buck would really like his luck to turn around. He deserves it. I am about four years old and I only weigh about 37 pounds. My fur is a silky blue grey along with white patches speckles with spots. I get along with other dogs I meet but I would rather be your one and only pet. I'm a cuddle bug and I love to play, especially fetch. I would do well with kids twelve and up. I have gone to professional training at MLK9. I have been doing wonderfully! They are so proud of me. I am one of the best behaved doggies that you will ever meet! My training comes with unlimited follow ups. My trainer, Sam, would be SO happy to see me. She said that I am her favoritest dog that she has ever trained! She will keep in close contact with my new family if you ever have any questions. I also come with my e-collar so you can keep up with my training even when I'm not at training. If you are interested in fostering or adopting me, they will teach you everything that I have learned and I can always come back for refreshes!
