Story
Meet your new best friend, Max! He is looking for a furr-ever home where he can show his new family just how much love he has to give. At five years old and 15 lbs, this Poodle mix loves to go on walks and hang out next to you. He has been doing a great job on potty training and is almost there. He would love his family to be able to spend a bunch of time with him, so if you work from home or could take him to work, he would love it. He also would do well in a home with kids or just adults. He wouldn’t mind a dog sibling or be the only pet so he can get lots of attention. In addition, at his foster home, he is learning to be around his foster kitty siblings. Most of all, Max just wants to be with his people. If you want to be Max's forever family, get your application in today!  If you are interested in adopting, please visit the I.C.A.R.E. Dog Rescue website and complete an adoption application: www.icaredogrescue.org/ready-to-adopt Adoption fee includes: spay/neuter • shots up to date • micro-chip • fecal and vet check Breeds and age are not guaranteed. Take home will be the same day Story Bear and his siblings were rescued from Lucerne Valley, CA. The story began when one of our volunteers was visiting a veterinarian on Bear Valley Road in Victorville to drop off some dogs for spay/neuter. A man was waiting to be called for a standard poodle puppy who seemed lethargic. Our volunteer had a conversation with him and he mentioned that his female dog gave birth to a litter of 6 puppies. He mentioned that the puppies were sick since born and they were always having a bloody liquid stool. The man brought only 1 puppy to get checked and the puppy was extremely skinny and dehydrated. The veterinarian wanted to conduct a parvo test and a fecal test but the man did not have enough money to pay. The man mentioned to our volunteer that he would like to get rid of all 6 dogs because he can't afford treating them. Our volunteer said that our rescue can take them and provide them with care. The man agreed and our volunteer agreed to meet the man at his home within 2 hours. She went back home to bring rapid Parvo test kits and she came back to meet the man. Our volunteer tested all the puppies from Parvo using rapid testing kits and all tests came out negative. She then called our leads and the rescue suspected that the puppies have parasites that is causing them the bloody stool. When brought to our foster, the puppies were found to have ticks behind their ears and under their necks. The foster started pulling all ticks from their skin, showered them with a flea & tick shampoo, and gave them oral flea and tick control medication. The puppies stayed in the rescue for long. They received multiple doses of medicines for different parasites until they became parasite free with a healthy solid stool. They received multivitamins with calories to help them gain weight. The puppies received 3 rounds of shots for the 5-in-1 (Parvo, distemper, Adenovirus I, Adenovirus ii, Parainfluenza) and 2 rounds of Bordetella. The puppies are not of age to be spayed/neutered yet since they did not reach the age of sterility. The adopter must enter a sterility agreement with the rescue to get the puppy spayed/neutered at the appropriate age. The puppies are standard Poodles and they are expected to be Large Behavioral-wise, the puppies are of medium energy. They are extremely adorable and unique. They are smart and fast to learn. Good with kids, people, and over dogs. Never been around cats. If you think that any of the puppies matches your criteria in a dog, please consider giving them a home.
