Leash walks, car rides, and long hikes are his favorite things, period.Boomer is a sweet, shy guy. New people and new situations take a minute, but once he`s comfortable, his personality shines. He`ll show off `touch,` `leave it,` and `focus` for a reward, and he`ll happily carry a squeaky toy from room to room. Positive reinforcement training is a great way to bond with him and watch his confidence grow.He`s looking for patient people who`ll let him settle in at his own pace. He has little experience being alone, so we`ll help you plan those first weeks together. Respectful kids who give him space may be a good fit. With his tousled curls and warm brown eyes, he’s quite the heart-stealer!His name carries a special story. Anderson was a beloved couple’s “baby,” and after his dad passed away, his mom added James in her husband’s memory. We’re keeping that meaningful name. When his mom’s circumstances changed and she could no longer keep him, Anderson James came to UPAWS to find another loving home.His former owner describes him as sweet and well-mannered in the house. He enjoys walks with plenty of time to wander and sniff, rides well in the car, and knows “sit.” Here at the shelter, we’ve seen him seek out affection and curl against a staff member’s legs—a sweet little reminder of how much companionship means to him.Picture a leisurely walk together, a few belly rubs, and an evening settled on the couch with Anderson James nearby. He would appreciate a patient family who gives him time to settle in, a comfortable routine, and positive reinforcement to make learning together enjoyable.Anderson James finds time alone difficult, so let’s talk about your schedule and how to help him feel comfortable. His former owner also reports that he may swallow things that aren’t food. Keeping tempting items out of reach and choosing toys carefully will be part of caring for him. Our staff can share more about these needs.He has lived with other dogs but can be particular about his canine friends, so please bring your dog for a meet-and-greet. His experience with cats is unknown. He hasn’t lived with children; respectful children who give him time and space may be a possibility.Anderson James has been dearly loved. Now he’s looking for someone to share the next chapter—with companionship, kindness, and plenty of belly rubs.
