We do our best to provide information that will help determine if the animal might be a good fit for you. Please note that behaviors may change in a home environment. We also ask our applicants to assume that any animal they adopt from us will need to be potty-trained and learn house manners, although this is not always the case. In most cases, the listed breeds are also a best guess. Our online animal bios are designed to provide as much information as possible and answer some anticipated questions. We do not have the resources to respond to emails with more specific questions. We are receiving an unusually high number of applications at this time! Applications are reviewed as they are received, but we do not select adopters on a first-come basis. Our job is to ensure each pet is placed into the best fit home for them and that adopters are paired with an animal that is a good fit for their lifestyle. All animals will stay online until they are “pending adoption”. Therefore, if an animal is still listed, we are still accepting applications for him/her! Please do not send inquiries about a specific animal's availability as this can change quickly over the course of the day. The fastest way to get a response is to simply submit an application! We will do our best to notify you by email if the pet(s) you are interested in are no longer available. New animals are posted daily, so please let us know if another furry friend peaks your interest (there is no need to fill out a second application)! Fill out the application completely. Every question must be answered, and it must be signed.-Applicants must be 21+ years old and live within a 100-mile radius of our shelter at 22415 Groesbeck Hwy, Warren 48089.-You must identify at least 1 animal that you are interested in.-Once your application is received, it will be assigned to one of our volunteer Adoption Counselors who will follow-up with the applicant who is the best fit within a few days, or to discuss other options. It could take up to a couple of weeks for you to receive a final disposition on your application so there is no need to check on the status.-Introductions will be scheduled by appointment only, 30 minutes per appointment. The entire household, including current dogs, must be present for the appointment. (Note: Please do not bring your dogs if you are meeting cats!). The introductions will take place outside in our parking lot (or in our cat room if you're meeting cats).-We will perform vet checks for current and prior pets in the household.-Finalizing the adoption will also be scheduled by appointment.Thank you for your understanding.

Story
Hudsyn is a 40 lb, 2-year-old dog located in Grand Rapids who adapts quickly to new environments and is eager to learn. She is currently working on potty training, basic commands such as sit, and learning not to jump. She has begun crate training and will need an adopter who is committed to continuing her training and providing consistency and structure.Hudsyn would do well in a home with children, but adopters should be aware that she does jump and can be mouthy, using playful nips when she’s excited. Ongoing training and supervision will help her continue to improve her manners. She would love a home with another dog, as she enjoys playing and having a canine companion. Hydsyn does shed and will require regular grooming and brushing to prevent matting.A meet and greet in Grand Rapids and a site visit are required before the adoption is finalized.Hudsyn is a sweet, playful dog with lots of potential and would thrive in a home ready to guide her with patience, positive reinforcement, and love.I’m fully-vetted, spayed & microchipped and ready to join your family with an adoption fee of $300. Questions? Shoot an email to projecthoperescue@gmail.com. Ready to make me a part of your family?  To fill out an application , visit our website at www.projecthoperescue.org. I can’t wait to meet you!December 29, 2025, 7:38 pm

Story
Hi my name is Xena! I’m an affectionate 3 year old female Labrador Schnauzer mix that weights 56 lbs. After being at the Ingham County Shelter I went through my training at the correctional facility and really learned my manners and how to act in a home. I love people and show my affection for them with snuggling, impressive tail wags, and lots of kisses! After my training I went to a home that I did really well at; I acclimated to the cat that lived there and we ended up getting along great. I went in my crate at bedtime, and during the day, if I needed to be left alone, I could be trusted in the house. But I didn’t like it when the young kids would crowd my personal space and if they left the door open for me I would run into the road and want to adventure, so it was decided it would be safest for me to be in a home with kids ages 10 and up. I am playful but I know when it’s time to play and when to stop. I love my toys and I’ll probably greet you at the door and then go get one of them to play with you. I have a skin issue that medicated shampoo and a supplement helps but is still being resolved. I do chase squirrels, deer and moles, so having a FENCED IN YARD IS A REQUIREMENT! When it comes to other dogs I need slow introductions and exposure over time and then I can ease into being them. I walk really well with my gentle leader halter; it helps me not pull and reminds me to stay right next to my person. I benefit from consistent routine and having boundaries set for me, including clear communication about hierarchy in the home. My trainers at the facility said that I need exercise, obedience, and affection in that order! I am food motivated and willing to work during training sessions; I truly want to make my human happy and I try hard to please! I have learned a lot over the past 6 months going from shelter to training facility to a home and now another home; I’m trying my hardest and would love to keep learning while also building a lasting relationship with you! Submit your app today! I’m spayed and I’m UTD on all my vaccines, HW, FT, and have a microchip of my own.  RPSM recommends children 10 years and older.  I will require a fenced in yard, either physical or underground. If you are interested in adopting me, please go to www.rpsm.org to fill out an application. My adoption fee is $300.
